- How many more techy things are we gonna find in this game?! A much more difficult katana cancel to execute. This is really hard to be consistent with, so hopefully this tutorial helps anyone out trying to master the dash attack cancel, and also get some new info you've never heard of before. I've been an algebra tutor for freshman in High School, I also was a hip hop dance teacher. So breaking things down has always been one of my favorite things to do, even when it came to explaining all the animation cancels I know within Legends 🙏 when I'm out of retirement from gaming, I'm planning on posting more tutorials

That square L3 move literally gave my left stick a serious beating that eventually made it super loose.. im still sticking with the circle square.
😂 I almost gave up on learning this tech because of how inconsistent I was at it and also wanted to stick to circle square. Worth learning, but my L3 is taking a toll off of so many presses

This seems to be one of the harder techs. When pressing L3, do you also have to tilt the L joystick forward? Also when I try this tech, I often times do the slower square attack or the next square attack in the melee combo. So I resort to L3, then Square, then R1, which of course is not the same and is much slower.

I normaly use the tecnique of perfect parry to do something during slow motion to revive my allies,just press L1 to perfevt parry and imedeatly use R2,it give a lot time to revive your ally and it make a lot easier

Maybe a pack of easier/intended techs for those who don't want to learn cancels? ⚡⚡⚡ never fully push down, swift swipe over triangle+circle⚡⚡⚡
+ do not use left joystick, while whole moon master cancel act
Minimize the duration of your button presses on the triangle and circle buttons. Normally, your fingers press these buttons with "normal" strength and duration, as they have pressed a button countless times. This standard press, however, won't trigger the Moon Master cancel.
To perform the Moon Master cancel, you must retrain your fingers. Here’s how:
Swipe Across Buttons: Use two quick swipes across the triangle and circle buttons.
Edge Starting Point: Start your swipe at the edge of both buttons. This technique helps achieve a shorter press duration.
Avoid the Center: Pressing in the middle of the buttons tends to result in a longer press. Starting at the edge and swiping across minimizes the input duration.
Focus on making triangle+circle input as brief and light as possible. Your fingers naturally want to apply normal strength and duration, but for this cancel to work, you must override that instinct. This means put your full focus on the keydown press, if it's to long no moon master cancel.

The swipe over the triangle and circle (quickly, edge, never full pressdown) should be as quick as touching a hot surface. You wouldnt touch a hot surface instinctively like a normal one? same here, quick, edge, never full.

Hi, does adding more 12% melee damage on weapon, 12% kunai, etc. + 25% melee damage equip with samurai skill does more damage with the animation cancelling attack?
When I press R1 to cancel the Dash Attack, It just throw the Ghost tool. I could do it if I used all the Ghost tool though.
The timing is kinda funky. This is a bit of an older video and made from my PS4 running on 30 fps and not my PS5 or PC where 60 fps is consistent. The audio cue to press R1 is a bit after the sound of the character's grunt , the visual cue to press R1 is when the katana is all the way sliced to the right. L3+square should be pressed immediately after R1, you just have to make sure you're not holding R1. I'm planning on making a future updated video on this animation cancel to better explain it and have a better visual representation of it

Just wanted to know when you're doing the dash cancel do you need to tap L3 to the direction you are facing when doing the inputs? I've been practicing the other cancel animations but this one seems the trickiest.
Is it left analog + square + r1 at the same time? I notice when i try it... i can see my ghost weapons icon at the bottom enlarge for a second, and that doesnt happen when i see people do it correctly. Or is it run+square, then delay the r1?

Isn’t the water stance surge strikes with the water master damage bonus faster than this tech?
Getting headshots with the skipping stone bow is really hard because it descends to the center of the body. Any advice?
Sounds counter intuitive, but I highly recommend turning on aim assist in the accessibility options to lock onto heads much easier.
If you're referring to ricocheted arrows hitting the body, that's been part of the game's updates/nerfs a couple of patches ago. Ricocheted headshots are rare to hit

Overall the DA cancel is better, katana cancel imo is a bit more consistent. DA cancel + way of the flame + sticky bomb on one Oni is such a good combo and melts him so fast. There's a dude named Ryan who discovered a new tech that I wanna make a tutorial on but I don't have time for it right now because of work. Moon Master cancel is a new thing; it staggers brutes in two quick MM cancel strikes, and it's so good because it's so much faster, but only limited to the 3 spin strikes. I have a new combo I tried after a dodge from a slow brute oni attack: MM cancel - katana cancel - DA cancel, it's fun, but so much button presses 😅

And ye I'll be waiting for the moon cancel showcase I was thinking about that legendary sword that does X2 dmg at 20% chance with those animation cancels that should remove everything what you say?
@@idragoi4878 all good dude, we all start somewhere getting to know new games. To my testing, whether it's DA cancel or katana cancel, they both deal the same damage, it's just that DA cancel's quicker, but harder to execute while the Katana cancel's timing is easier and more consistent yet just not as fast. I think you're referring to either masamunes edge or another legendary, and doing any one of these cancels with one of those legendaries is really good in terms of damage because the damage boost effects still apply.
Sooner or later either I'll give a tutorial on the Moon Master cancel, but that Ryan dude has been teaching people the tech too. He's on the Facebook Ghost of Tshushima: Legends page and I saw thats he's been teaching people the tech and it looks super cool too

As far as I remember masamunes is a moon katana so should work only downside is that with MM can't have way of flame .. also wanted to ask does it matter with what stance katana you ani cancel? Yes it's possible! I was trying to practice doing it myself on my own mouse and keyboard, but still trying to figure it out to get it consistently. I haven't gotten practice it much due to my busy schedule, but I think with enough muscle memory you can get it down 💪🏽

Is it only working in Legends or can you do it in the main campaign too ?
You can do the dash attack cancel in the main campaign, just not the perfect parry bow cancel

Is it just me or did they patch the dash cancel? Couldn't pull it off consistantly earlier today. Square+Circle still works. Might stick to it for my controller's sake though.
I played a little bit earlier when I saw the update. I wanted to test out all the tech, and this still works the same for me, same with reload canceling

Hello, But Can You Cancel The Animation While Doing The Surging Strikes Of Water Katana?
You can cancel the animations of surging strikes, but surging strikes is already fast enough that it isn't necessary to cancel any of the five strikes unless you see an incoming attack you would need to avoid

Question Again, Do Way Of The Flame + Explosive Blade On Samurai's Ultimate (Hachiman's Fury) Increase The Damage Of The Ultimate Of The Samurai?
@@jagrjr45 yes it should. If you have the "Damage Increase" perk on a charm or any of your ghost quick throw weapons, that will significantly increase the damage when combining way of the flame + samurai ult because way of the flame is considered a ghost weapon
Between Moonmaster cancel and dashattack cancel, which one is faster?
Moon Master is the fastest cancel. It strikes just as fast, probably faster than water stance surging strikes as long as it's an enemy that doesn't flinch

Yes, it works very much the same. Here's a recent solo run that I did where I use it pretty often after I clear the first set of enemies. Do these techs still apply in 2023?
Yes, DA (Dash Attack) cancel with both variations for movement and combat, and perfect parry headshot can still be done in the current version of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. Keep in mind perfect parry headshot only works in Legends, not in the main campaign when playing as Jin

I cant see the advantages of doing this. It still takes the same amount of hits to kill Oni
Faster strikes compared to water's surging strikes because there's no prep for only five hits, you constantly keep striking without pausing for another prep with just another five strikes. Sticky bomb + way of the flame + DA cancel kills Onis so much faster especially in a situation where you wanna save other resources and it's just one Oni left. Also traveling with this tech in between zones on nightmare helps you avoid the hwacha better
