Thank you for keeping our iconic trains running well into the future. They are a gem, and have truly defined the standard of transport for Sydney, and represent an era of engineering and design ingenuity, pushing the envelope boundary of what can be done in the 80s. Many fond memories of watching trains pass behind the fence at Mortdale station as a kid in the 90s.
Tangaras on Illawara line could do with regular clean up of the interiors. The trains are comfortable, but seats and floors are often filthy. Looks like they aren't cleaned in weeks.
Has a number of pretty significant flaws though and is damn old, also looks significantly worse now that they have to protect the front from train surfers they have added a stupid duck bill shaped covering
Hi Jo met you @ Uniting church Ashfield you were the best looking girl there!! Lol it was on Xmas day iwas on the front table near the stage! I'm really thinking about going back to church? I've had a bad year2024 need a nice person in my life!!
Because our productivity level is now among the world's worst, That particularly affects manufacturing industry. It was declining badly before Covid, but the economic effects of that really nobbled it. It like we've slipped back into the pre-Keating era. Sadly there's seemingly nobody at federal level with the brain and balls to solve it, not a great deal of enthusiasm or understanding of issues at shop floor level, and not enough talent and vision at organisational management level to do what it takes.
@@incurledI read from reddit by someone who worked on upgrading the first TTU test sets that the work was far more complicated than anticipated, and apparently each set of the fleet is wired differently, as if they did adhoc work building each set when installing PAs and operational wiring (it could be a matter of them being wired slightly different per delivery stage). Practically the scope of works would’ve had to be recalculated and it would require more time, more work, more labour and more money, so it was quietly abandoned without mention by the previous government. It now makes sense to revisit this project as the tangaras do indeed have more life left in them and if the current government are adamant on building the next new train in Australia they’ll have to rely on Tangaras to keep up the work for at least another 12 years (could be longer for G sets that are about 26 years old).
lol good luck, how many times has this been announced before? Metro the ESR or upgrade the substations and buy some more b sets. Unreal we keep these dinosaurs alive
They have not yet announced a full refurb for the H or M set trains, although in the H set transition from intercity to suburban, the info displays are being updated to match the lcd displays seen in the b sets as well as id assume other minor tweaks
@@SydneywithSam I really hope they do soon. They need it badly. Or alternatively they could keep them as they are for another decade then replace them with the new sets replacing the Tangaras alongside them and kill two birds with one stone, I guess?
Sure hope it's not like going from Windows 95 to the latest MacBook lol... maybe that's what they did with the metro and why it's suddenly twice as expensive and not compatible 😂😂
They said they’re fixing the doors, and the inside will be made nicer, not a full redo as they aren’t completely overhauling everything, just adding enough nice features to last until the replacements come out
Some new stock on T4 would be an improvement &@@belchy94 we've just had every weekend in July with maintenance on T4 including a 5 day stretch in between I know what having NO train service is like
How much money should we put on T4 not seeing any of these improved Tangara's? Now the second ALP government not doing anything about the entire line being underpowered to the point newer trains can't run on it. Huge mess when the Tanagaras are EoL and we all need to walk but that will be well after the end of this government
Are we ever going to get faster trains and a better rail network? Even Russia has better trains than ours! China is light years ahead! I’ve traveled on Indonesian trains that are faster and cheaper.
Tangaras have the most badass exterior design of a train and the future replacement should look exactly like them

finally someone who understands that nobody can hear tangara announcements
i used to go to school often on tangaras, and being familiar with my train route, i found the quieter announcements quite relaxing...
Great job on extending the Tangara's life! They are my favourite trains.
I remember when these were new and it was so exciting to get one into the city!
The background music is too loud
I know…. That song is “Good Luck Babe” instrumental
chappell roan is never too loud
I can’t hear you!

i love the tangaras! good luck.
Will the seats be reversable?
I hope so
"Polar Express in winter"? They are always boiling hot in winter.
Also, in the almost 40 years of tangaras running, you haven't figured out how to make the windows usable?
tangara edit goes unimaginably hard
Australian well built train, I’m so proud

Glad you did say windows 11, you don't need trains stopping for updates ever 5mins
Tangara needs the waratah exterior design and the air conditioners are badass loud also how long will this update take?
I love me Tangaras! 😊👍
I love old Sydney tangara
When will the Tangara upgrade arrive on service?
Why can’t all trains, trams, buses etc be made in Australia??
$$$$$$$$
Don't even mention vehicles smaller than a bus....

For a minute there I thought that I was looking at Taylor Owynns, the Sydney metro recorded voiceover who does the train announcements.
I thought the ttu failed
Yeah, they’re doing ttu take two to try and get it right this time
@@SydneywithSam Why did it fail last time?

@@pacomarveeny9640 Thank you for the explainer, it's much appreciated.
They really got the Auscision tangara out 😂
I want some in N-Scale Dam it 😂
@@smithy2 😂
also can you outfit all the tangaras with flippy seats
Please keep the old doors closing announcements!!!! 🙏
So I am. It's very emotional i like it (same to V and K)
Look the most important aspect of these trains ahead of anything else. Is there reversible seats please ensure that part of the new Service.
lol good luck, how many times has this been announced before? Metro the ESR or upgrade the substations and buy some more b sets. Unreal we keep these dinosaurs alive
We’ve banned buying any more imports
YESSS Finally!😊
How bout u make the waratahs not feel like a sauna first before u start screwing with stuff that still works?
Comfortable SEATING on trains would be appreciated ❤
They built a new Sydney motorway that’s only two lanes in each direction. For an area with over 5 million people. They didn’t have enough money.
Didn’t have enough forethought
If we are going from windows 95 to Mac book then we are going backwards.
I don't like its backward seats.
Built to last 30 years time to replace.
Maybe let other models go on the T4
Will the Hunter Line line get anything
make it go on central coast
I'm your 100th subscriber
Replace the seats with reversible alternatives. It's what the people want. Anything less than that will be failure
Tangos ❤️
We need new trains to replace the ageing K sets, Tangaras asap and the millennium’s badly need a mid life upgrade.
The Oscar’s will replace the k sets once the nif enters service
@@belchy94 ok, are the Oscars and M sets both getting a mid life refurbishment then

Windows 95 to a Mac book???? 😂😂😂😂 that analogy is like replacing your ear with a foot …. Omg who wrote her script 😂😂😂
Just make sure you dont modify them as to make them to wide for station platforms. Give someone a tape measure first.

can i have the ausicion tangara if you give me it ill vote for you

They said they’re fixing the doors, and the inside will be made nicer, not a full redo as they aren’t completely overhauling everything, just adding enough nice features to last until the replacements come out
Put K sets on the t4, at least then we would have something else to look at instead of tangaras
