    Why is it that almost all piano/keyboard reviews do not use the same music to demonstrate the piano comparisons. It should be here are the music titles that will be played and each title will emphasize the bass, mid, and treble notes and chords.

    Thanks for all of your videos. I've been virtual window shopping for pianos all day and your channel is a great resource for people like myself. From what I gather, the CA99 is great for anyone who puts a high value on being able to practise in silence with headphones on but would also like the option of being able to play out loud on a digital piano that feels and sounds as close to the authentic, acoustic experience as possible. That being said, no digital piano can match the beauty of touch and sound that you get from an acoustic like the K200 and anyone who's learning to play really would benefit from having an acoustic piano with a real hammer action. I think I'll get the Kawai E200 myself; all of the same internal components and features of the K200 but with a matte finish that isn't going to need polishing all the time, and it comes at a bit of a discount from the K200. Sounds like a steal to me.

  • @yesloow

    Thanks for posting this video! I would have liked to hear more of the dynamic range, repeated notes, and staccato passages from each piano. The mid range of the CA99 sounds quite loud, but I imagine there's a setting to bring that down a bit. The bass on the CA99 sounded better than the K200 to my ears. Perhaps comparing the CA99 with the same mic setup would have been a more equal comparison? In all though, great review! Thanks for comparing these two pianos!

    They sound different. But only a little bit as I’m listening with Apple ear buds. The CA99 sounds warmer and has a better bass tone a and is a bit richer and colourful, whereas the acoustic sounded a bit “boxy” as some uprights do tend to. The CA99 sounded more warm where the acoustic sounded brighter in the treble.
    I would certainly prefer the CA99 in this case as I only like grand pianos in an acoustic type as the horizontal soundboard and gravity action can’t be beaten.

    • @Biozene
      @Biozene Год назад +2

      No surprise really, as the CA99 is the result of recording a concert grand in great detail. Hard for any upright to beat that depth of tone coming from such a powerful speaker system and soundboard. The acoustic supremacists will never admit it though.

    There is no comparison in the sound. The acoustic piano has a much richer, fuller melodious sound. The digital is a sharper sound that cannot compare. The only reasons to own the digital is for headphones and not needing a piano tuner. Other than that, the acoustic is the way to go.

      Tuning acoustic pianos, maintenance, price, and weight/size are the issues. Some (usually cheaper) acoustic models aren’t that great to start. But the tone is superior as is the touch of a well kept acoustic. It’s a bit like the digital audio vs vinyl argument.

    The digital has lots of advantages and sounds as good. The major disadvantage is the lifetime expectancy. I have heard that it might last only 10-15 years before having to do expensive repairs of the components. Maybe not, but that would be my only concern. An acoustic could be repaired easily for decades.

    • @DiegoDourado
      @DiegoDourado 2 года назад +1

      The digital is always in tune and the timbre does not change with time, temperature. Digital is better to sell or exchange for another one after about 10 years. On the other hand, acoustics are expensive to fix and you won't find technicians everywhere.

    I am surprised to say that the K200 sounded more alive and real here. The tones and the resonance were richer to my ears, whereas the CA99 sounded a bit flat and unimpressive. A better choice of music ( jazz, blues, classical, soundtrack ) would have allowed us to see the full potential of both pianos, what a missed opportunity ! To this I will add that I own a CA98 and have played acoustic grand pianos before so I know what I'm talking about. In person, the soundboard makes a big difference... as well as the setting choices you make. The sample grand piano sounds that come on the CA98 are inferior to the main concert grand, don't waste your time with those. The CA98 is far from perfect, but it can handle a wide dynamic range and has a beautiful tone overall. Probably not good enough if you're a concert pianist but plenty good enough for a semi-professional player.

      It's interesting, yes. However I feel that the K200 should be better tuned before this test. CA99 sounds cleaner, because it is in perfect tune and the liveliness ot thickness of the K200 comes from simply being slightly out of tune.
