Old School USDM Hunter Find: 1965 Dodge Dart Charger

Quick little rundown of a 30,000 mile 1 of 400 '65 Dart Charger Ragtop left for dead in Lynwood California in 1970. This has been Sir Michael's 40 year restoration odyssey.

As far as I know Dodge made the Dodge Dart GT Convertible 273 V-8 Power Pack 4-speed (man. 4) , model year 1965, version for North America U.S. (up to September). But I’ve never seen or heard of a 1965 Dodge Dart “Charger” in a convertible? 1965 Dodge Dart “Charger” added a yellow paint job (just "Yellow") "999" or "991," which was found on the factory Dart “Chargers”. With a black vinyl top. And the Cragar mag wheels would have had the OEM Cragar centers not the “Charger Centers”.

I'm just relaying what I heard. I know some of these cars also had an 881 code as well. I think the caps were added later, however a quick Google search says LA plant made 180 factory Dartchargers of which 30% was convertibles. There's currently 4 or 5 known charger convertibles.

Wow, I never knew about a Dart Charger! Very pretty and understated!!!!! That bolt pattern is probably 5x4.5.

If that's the small bolt pattern, yes.

Had a couple.of sets of them over the years.

My 65 Dart I had years ago, had a 225 slant six. The air cleaner said, " Charger". What gives? Is there a story behind that by chance?

The car is a wasteland. And the goal to make it look as much as factory as it could? Yeah, right. That color is not factory no matter how old. And Montgomery Ward tires? Class act!
