Great tips! I esp liked finger placement & grooves... Nut action is CRITICAL! Bb is much more challenging on my Kohala versus my low action Enya X1-C. The advantage is when I can get a good strum off Kohala, then play on Enya, it's a zen moment ...🙃 so definitely check nut action...

Thank you. I have avoided playing Songs with a b flat in them but after practicing for a short time I have managed to do it. Now to tackle the dreaded E chord.
Phil Doleman - what also helped me was watching a video you had done on holding the uke. I found it easier to do the b flat without a strap as I was relying on the strap and holding the uke incorrectly. Thank you once again. I am going to bask in my glory before attempting E though😄
Well I've tried all the other methods, but this idea of having the index finger up much higher might just work. I'm off to try it. You'll hear me celebrating if this works.

I'm extremely thankful for your videos. There are not many people out there with your talent of explaining what's important :) Could you explain how to notice whether my Uke needs to be set up properly? I started with a cheap Baton Rouge, and while I definitely want to buy a better one some day, it actually stays in tune fine and I would really like to fix it, if it's got a too big height. But I don't have a better Uke for comparison. Is there for example a certain distance between string and fret bar that I should aim for and might measure with a caliper?
Hi Jost, Thanks! A good rough guide to the height the strings should be at the nut is if you can slip a business card between fret 1 and the strings and have it stay there rather than fall through. 12th fret action is a bit more of a personal preference, but I like it to be somewhere around the 2.5mm mark (between the top of the fret and the bottom of the strings) but I do have some ukes that are closer to 3mm and they play just fine. I use guitar picks as thickness gauges.
