- Art has the power to change the way we view the world. It has the ability to bring us together and reflect our humanity on a grand scale. With his global art project, artist and TED Prize winner JR is turning the world inside out, in a big way. He’s using photography as a vehicle for change by, quite literally, putting a face to an issue. His team travels the world taking portraits of people and printing them on large-scale paper to then post in public spaces. His “Inside Out” public art project works with communities online and around the world to print and display their photos and stories along the streets where they live. His soaring installations shine a light on the unsung and give everyone the dignity they deserve.

It’s true. People have their own perspective on art no matter what. A blank canvas is a door leading to nothing. Art is the light at the end of the tunnel.
Theoretically, art is like music for the eyes. No matter if the art is a scribble. It is art.
There is no wrong way to interpret art. When a brush stroke meets a canvas, something is beginning. You can use the arts to demonstrate life and death and everything in between.

Subjectivist interpretation is a belief that only goes so far while projecting to go as far as the imagination can offer, even with music- pick a genre and we can establish an array of fundamental truths about the structure of a song to at least establish a few pillars of objectivity inside a largely subjective topic. That system can be applied to every subjective topic I've found so far, and I don't think art is an exception.
What I'm getting at it I don't think I completely agree with your theory that a scribble is art no matter what- I concede that if we're not applying any general concept of worth both abstract or concrete that a scribble /could be/ art to /someone,/ but the moment you begin applying a concept of worth onto art (once again either abstract or concrete) then it becomes clear a scribble is not art simply by proxy of the worth we've established in the works humans have come to accept as historically great/good/average/bad/terrible. Because if you begin saying anything that a person can apply an emotional worth or connection to is art, even if its a scribble, then why don't I just create an AI to churn out every written angle and scribble possible? Then I can appeal to the abstract worth of as wide of an array of people as statistically possible, under your logic effectively becoming the best artist there ever was by sheer number of people finding "abstract worth" in my AIs 'art'
I'm not saying there's a wrong way to interpret art on an individual basis, but I do think there's an ever present danger of the degradation of an artform when you start saying you can apply it to everything on earth, from scribbles to snot on a page.

Pugmaster000+You are referring to abstract art. There are still artists today that express the same symbolism and display the technique of the art 100s of years ago. There are many different genres of art-not just realistic.

There is a documentary ( Visages, Villages ) that was nominated for an Oscar in which JR ( the guy who wears shades) and an old lady travel through France. They do the same thing that's shown in this video and it's a shame the film was never mentioned.
The 'old lady' is actually the famous French director/cinematographer Agnés Varda, who was a visionary cinematographer of the French New Wave era of cinema, so it was fascinating to see the two collaborate.

Politics is an inescapable thing in life
most artists would feel ashamed to be considered as not invested in a political way. most often art is made by the middle class. to not do something with the stage that you are given when people follow your work is seen as lazy and bourgeois
Agreed but politcs is everywhere however promoting the "immigrants" that break the law to come to a country is wrong and illegal no matter how "humanizing" it is.
