This is a fun game that in my opinion got ruined by forced replay content. Let me explain. The levels in this game are rewarded with extra stars for 100% pac dots/100% fruit. The stars are necessary to unlock new levels. Unfortunately, most levels have locked areas with the remaining 5-10% dots so you can't get 100% completion on most levels in your first run. After defeating the final boss, you are given a master key. This key can be used to unlock these hidden rooms. Along with that, the REAL final boss level is unlocked and it requires almost twice as many stars as the previous level. So what do you do? You replay almost every single level to acquire all pac-dots/fruits for the stars you require. Since this is such an absurd and boring concept, I decided to leave it out of the video. Then, once all that is done, you get to kill the final boss which is almost a replica of the previous final boss. Then, game complete! Whew.
Forced replay....To be fair.... it's called Maze Madness. Thanks for the explanation. I've never played all the way through. I'm looking forward to it.
Totally 100% agree with you. I bet it sounded great on paper since during that specific time, game designers were still trying to figure out how to craft good games. They probably thought it would be a good idea at first, but it's not like they had much to go off of. Oh well, hopefully they learned from that mistake or had that realization at some point. At least the game is still mostly fun.
@@abluntuser940 by the way this franchise will never go back to the platform style because no one cares about pac man anymore, the competition of mascots was very competitive, and what people prefer most is mario or sonic, there are others, but I only mentioned the best known ones .
There was going to be a sequel to this game, but it was cancelled supposedly due to Namco shutting down and becoming Namco Bandai. Which is unfortunate, because I would have loved a sequel to this great game.
I had this old game on my PS1. Good times. I beat the entire game. I beat all of the time trials, I beat Mesmerelda, her pet gobblin and vice versa. I would avoid the Game Boy Advance version of this old classic.
my mom has an old play station and she has this game and we haven't turned on the play station for years, but i always remember having to play this game with my mom when i was younger because the ghosts scared me lol but watching this is so nostalgic
WOW!! They actually show cutscenes and surprisingly the exact same music for it. You can really tell this is the first time namco did a pac man spin off game for N64 since namco museum.
I loved this game as a kid along with Pac -Man World 1 and 2, oddly enough the soundtrack is what I remember most, I likes most of the levels and worlds, except the Egyptian stuff. Also wasn't there a race in the ice levels where you manned a sabertooth tiger sled? Or was that only in the PS1 game?
Right where Pacman belongs on Nintendo why they never made an enhanced version of Pacman World on N64 is bizarre as it feels weird playing Pacman World on PS1 as it just feels like a Nintendo game seems out of place on the playstation.
This video really takes me back, thank you! Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of a sledding mini-game though? I was sure the game had one but can't seem to find it 😭
That wouldn't have been unusual as the GameCube was only a few months old then. However the N64 had a fairly short lifespan and was already killed off in 2002. As already mentioned this enhanced port came out in 2000.
Really why did 1:53 the Scenes Like That? It was Supposed to be Animated in the Nintendo 64 but it isn't. The Scene Animation it has to look like the PSX or Otherwise...

The replay part is fun. Its like finding new stuff on old levels. Old concept.

This is my jam when I was a kid.
Loved this game when I was a kid for the dreamcast! Lol at the fact that the dark wizards in the cleopatra levels scared me as a kid.

I agree Cleopactra was an optimistic banger.
That goblin boss gave me so much anxiety as a kid, I'm so thankful my brother passed it for me
My Favorite Pacman game of all time

This is the best Pac-Man game! On N64/Dreamcast
Looking at this game just makes me wish that Pac-Man World was on the N64 as well
If only Namco wasn't selfish
It was planned, but they scrapped it alongside the Sega Dreamcast and PC versions
@@TheVideoGameNutt a PC version of Pac-Man World does exist but it was exclusive to Korea

Why ? I was about to order one... is it that bad ??
Haven't heard this awesome song in 20 years!!
I love how the saber-toothed cats in this game have the classic mountain lion sound effect .

I've noticed that Mesmerelda's name is a clearly reference to the villain in the Pac-man tv show "Mezmeron"
Damn, i was not expecting it to look this good
Me and my brother would play this for HOURS and laugh our asses off … I miss my childhood .. 😢
I used to play this other Ms Pac-Man pc game.

Still bizarre how Ms. Pac-Man gets to have a game on the N64 and Dreamcast while I don’t. Good for her though!

Now this game have the possibility to be on the N64 for the NSO.
Funny how games were back then where you have to replay it to try to get 100%.
Needs commentary but thanks for showing the mess ups as well that hels a shit ton.
When I hear yeah sounds like...well use your imagination 😂
I had this game on my gameboy advance

An N64 game from late 2002 when the GameCube was around.
This actually came out in 2000. I think the 2002 was just a typo

Do you know if you can save the game in classic mode for this game on nintendo 64?
Yes you can save it to the N64's 32KB memory card.
