I enjoy your videos. I just received my Mira-9 and used several of your videos on how to use the machine. You do a nice job explaining the details of the operation of the laser. It looks like you are down the road from me. I'm in the JAX area. Keep up the good work!

Besides the "Fill Individual" which you used in this video LB supports an "Offset Fill" option as well. This takes each closed shape and circles around inside much like you might see with a CNC machine, getting closer and closer to center. Works even when things are not "separate" objects. Gives a slightly different engrave pattern, rather than side to side, it circles in, but if you're going to paint anyway, it shouldn't likely matter. Depending upon the layout and amount of space that is not engraved, the Offset Fill can be quite a bit faster than even the Fill Individual method.
Thank you for sharing. After engraving, you can glossy spray it, before spraying white or painting white on it, then remove the paper, that will lessen the bleed I think 😊
I am so glad I watched this video for the hundredth time - I was about to give up on Lightburn because I didn’t know that you can CUT SELECTED GRAPHICS and was creating multiple files in Silhouette 🤪
For making it much faster for mounting those outer additional letters, shapes, etc. you could have had the machine vector trace them on the board. To do this so it's not going to do it where it's on the outside of the shapes (right on the edges) you can do an inner contour of about .008" . Break the contour apart from the original letters, delete any inner contours (IE. like the inner holes in letters like b a p o, etc...) and then have the laser lightly vector trace it on the board. No you won't need to spend time trying to get perfect alignment, and you won't see the trace either since it will be fully covered the .008" overlap of the stacked pieces you're gluing over it. I assume LightBurn has contouring. I use Corel, so I can't be sure.
Nice video and very helpful. Tip: You can use in LB the Circle frame for your circle instead of the Square frame. I like the font for the Bar & Grill, can you share the font name please. Thanks
Thanks! This is one of my earlier videos. Love the circle frame option now that I know about it! Unfortunately that font was on my old computer and I don't remember it. Sorry!
Very cool thank you. I want to make a 3d sea turtle which uses different blues. Does the chalk paint come in other colors? If not can u recommend a paint
Love the video. I don’t have this particular laser, I have the Glowforge Would you know if it’s possible for me to use your same technique regarding stain, clear spray and mask and engrave using the Glowforge? Thank you.
Have you done any testing with engraving speeds and power for your laser? I'm thinking this should be an upgrade from my current machines but need to know how dark and fine of an engrave these can do at higher speeds. So far I've been unable to find anyone with a video test of this. Currently I'm running 6 OMtech machines but they only engrave the quality I need at 250mm/s. Above that speed they get uneven edges .
@@ThatMomWithALaser just sent an email with a file. Hopefully that works to do some testing. I forgot what power your tube is so the power in the file may be different than what I'm used to but should still give an idea of the clarity available at higher speeds.
whats the biggest size project can you work on with this? I want to invest in this machine but really want to work on really big projects as well as small..
Hey Tonya. The biggest piece I’ve made is approximately 28x28. I have a video on it. Let me know if you can’t find it. You could also consider the mira 9 with a larger laser bed. They have some preorder specials with some nice freebies so it’s worth contacting them about it. Here is my affiliate link if you haven’t contacted them already aeonlaser.us/contact?ref=momlaser
Love the video. I tried to look at the links you shared for the materials you used but wasn't able really open the one for the Vynil Ease masking tape. Would you be able to share or repost the link? thanks :)
When I click on that link it is for the glue. When I search for the vynil masking it specifically says not for use with laser engraving. Any suggestions??
@@Birdnson2012 I knowwwww. Growth in popularity plus a pandemic is a tough combo for any business. Aeon is offering a pre-order special to compensate for the long wait. Right now they are including the camera, rotary, and software for free!

They aren't backwards, they're only apperaing upside down because the disk is rotated to allow the laser head to get to that place on the round board due to the physical size of board and the capable workspace of that particular machine. In other words, where it needed to be engraved was outside of the bounds of the machine IF you wanted to see it engrave right-side up (wouldn't work). Hope that makes sense.
Nick Smith thanks, Nick! I score often but was too intimidated to do it with this project since it was my first time 🙈. I’ll definitely be doing it in the future now that I’m comfortable with the process 💪🏼
Better tell people not to overlap that tape like you have it when it's in the area of anything you intend to engrave, or they are going to end up with a raised surface where the tape overlap was.
Thanks! I didn't engrave over the overlapped tape but I've also never run into such an issue. If you ever make a video to demonstrate this I'd love to see it! Please share if you ever do. :)
I always learn a new trick every time I saw your videos. Thanks for sharing!

Too save even more time, spray a coat of laquer over the engraved area. It seals the edges and the paint won't blead out. Thanks for the video!

Is it possible to just outline all of the graphics so that you can actually see where to place your cut out letters or would the outline show?
What is the thickest it can cut through?
Hello Emily, where did you get your transfer paper? I think that’s what it’s called.

Thanks! Yes, they are manufactured in China. It took about two months but Covid was not around at that time. Now the wait is much longer.

What do you glue your pieces to your wood round with?
ej Ramsey I used either clear gorilla glue or titebond original. The links are posted in the description 😃
What is your go to wood (thickness and type) for the cutouts that you glue onto your signs?
I prefer either MDF or birch for anything I paint. If I'm not painting then I love walnut and sometimes maple depending on the look I'm going for.

is there a file for the burger and fries cutout?
There isn't. They are from stock images I purchased a long time ago but don't remember the source.
