V12 manual is a dream combination. Consider yourself lucky
...and a very rare one !
@@asthalisEven overhere,in the Netherlands. We,Dutch People are very BMW minded but the 8 series are very rare
This BMW aged like a fine wine. Also that V12 can balance a coin.
So can the Benzo's 6 litre V12.
I love 90s BMW, three was a button for every function and a digital display for every component. 30+ years later and still looks amazing.
Exactly. Today it's just a ghastly screen that in 20 years will be outdated, yet this design is timeless.
Still my favorite BMW of all time. When you look at this and the monstrosities BMW are making today it's enough to make you cry. This is coming from a guy who only buys old school American cars. But man if I could afford an 8 series as clean as this I'd do it in a heartbeat.
same here. car of my dreams
In this era BMW seems to want at all costs to look like Batman's car
@@armendarizosvaldo26They're targeting the Chinese market and therefore Chinese aesthetic sensibilities these days.
True that! I feel the exact same way.
Back when BMW still made decent cars. They’re a train wreck now, which is just one of the reasons the resale on them is so low.
MAN I miss old BMW! The E90, E46, E39, and E38 were in my opinion peak BMW. The F and G series chassis in my opinion have lost most of what BMW was known for, “The Ultimate Driving Machine”, now they’re the ultimate tech machine. Will be buying a Porsche instead!
Replace the e90 with the e30, e34 and e36 and I agree
And those new 🐽 grilles …
G series M models are peak BMW and I say that as an absolute E36 fanatatic.
F chassis bmw’s are the pinnacle of the ultimate driving machine. Nothing beats the driving dynamics, balanced weight distribution, Short wheel base, and nimble chassis of the f87 m2. It’s the closest thing to the nimble 3 series coupes of the past. But if Porsche is more your speed I don’t blame you, however get ready to dish out overs and take major losses on every purchase.
@@seanpoore500 Porsches hold their value SIGNIFICANTLY better than mass produced BMW’s
V12 manual, wow, a real driver's dream.
I like the different format. Right into the nice V12 rumble.
This car is still so good looking ! Pop up headlamps will never not be cool!
Such a shame they outlawed them
For real
The only thing i would do is upgrade them to hid and have them open only about 70% of the way. This in the tuner scene is known as a "lazy eye" mod. It is also in dire need of a great but subtle exhaust system. It is not only being choked but also that engine needs to be heard man. I would of course keep all the original stuff.
"There are no deals, only cars that may need more loving." This is so true, and not just for BMWs.
The cockpit layout and design of this era was so good.
Still easily one of my favorite BMW designs, such a clean looking car, sporting and muscular yet elegant and understated.
I really liked the silent ASMR type of the walk around the car. Nice touch.
Excepted the engine running for nothing, pure waste of oil.
The interior color scheme is surprisingly clean and modern.
no it isnt at all. clean yes. modern color no way
It suits the winter.
I love dove grey for bmw interiors
Not modern at all.
Not modern at all.
Love. This. Beast. Tank build. V12. 16” normal wheels. Legend.
love the dashboard, straightforward, and business like. it’s only business is driving. no unnecessary screens or gadgets. after all, you’re driving a car, not your living room.
Such an amazing car. That dashboard truly looks like an airplane cockpit without being weird.
And I'm not going to even talk about the design and the engine, those speak for themselves
Great vid:)
we used to have one in the 90s bought it when it was a year old. all Black, and most were automatics. Taking a buisiness trip to Frankfurt, just about 400 km distance in regularily under 2 h. After arriving, you felt like you had just come from a relaxed road trip, didnt break a sweat; very little noise even when hitting the top speed of 250 kph. Thats what this car was made for, no spectacular sports car vib. The same trip with a 1999 Porsche 996 (911) in pretty much the same time I arrived feeling like I came from the race track. Loved the Porsche, but it just felt so great speeding, and each day I wondered if cops would take my drivers licence or if I would still have it at the end of the day :)
I wonder how quiet it is relative to other BMWs of the era. Does it sit somewhere between an E39 and an E38 in that regard?
the 850 was the replacement of the 6 series, which was at its time a great car. Developement cost of the 850 surpassed the 1 000 000 000 marks (about 400 000 000 Dollars at the time) being the most expensive, which included lots of new technology later added to other models. At the time, they were cut of at a top speed of 250 kph. Tires, if I remember correctly had an Index of ZR, meaning they were rated for vehicles going faster than 240 kph; they had a very smoth ride, so, again, at the time it was probably the most silent (sports) car of the era. Other cars had soundsystems that adjusted the volume according to the noise the speed was producing, making them louder; I dont believe that ever happened in the 850. Are tires with the High speed indes, Z , W, ZR even sold in the US or elswhere? Wouldnt make much sence if you cant drive it, since the wear on them is incredibal high; I had a pair that lastet only 8000 miles... have a good one
@@jorgbo3909 I have ZR rated Michelin Pilot Sport 5 on my E39, and they have done over 26,000 km and still have around 50% tread left
That 1989 Camry was like “someday I’ll be featured in Tedward’s channel… someday” 😂
Ted, she's an absolute gem...and that V12 mill is lovely. One of my all-time favs from that era.
Have two M20 E34s, also had M50s, M51 and E32 7 series with the M30 before. Love these old BMWs, they are great cars.
Can you do more life lesson drives where you just talk about life and advice us

One of the best piece of engineering by BMW. 850i, E39 and m6 grand coupe most beautiful cars made by BMW.
They should have put the S70/2 into an M8 just because.
"One of the best pieces of engineering by BMW" boy you don't wanna know how they made (I should really say strapped together) that V12...
Absolutely fantastic indeed! Nothing beats a V12 and a manual😮
@@braulioaol5140is it basically just two M20B25's glued together to make that V12? If it is then it's not that surprising tbh...
Also...In my opinion, one of the best interior designs BMW has ever done, this one seems a thousand times more elegant to me than so much damn wood simulation.
v12 + manual = heaven🙌
BMW been spot on for years, that’s still a beautiful car
BMW M70/M73 are fantastic engines. They are not feeling punchy at all with all this smooth acceleration from idle to the redline, but will actually go like stink if you look at the needle on the speedometer... The moment I first drove an E38 750i I knew I had to have it. When people say that diesels have good torque, they honestly have no idea what they are talking about... I thought so as well until I got my big V12.
8:30 onwards...that V12 sound is just gorgeous.
One of my childhood dream cars, great video as always!!
I like the silent interior tour. Feels like I'm actually in the car.
The most beautiful BMW ever!
I used to detail cars on the weekends back in college and the BMW dealership across the street had us do a few of these that came in off the truck. They were so nice! I remember feeling like a million dollars driving it the 1/4 mile down the road back to the dealership. I don't ever recall seeing a manual one though, but it was long ago. Great video, thank you for the trip down memory lane.
My dream car back in the 90's.
i love the startup sound of any V12's. the starter motor, those 12 cylinders firing up, that whirring sound, sound so exotic n beautiful.
Former co-worker has the V8 version with slight power optimizations and more capable suspension
Magnificent car
I just know this would feel so good on the autobahn
One of those cars where 150 feels like 60 in most other cars.
a lot of nostalgia in that car....the mega phone inside, cd changer in the trunk and the coin holder on the door panel for tolls
I’ve always liked these cars. The power plant is cool but the looks are cool too.
oh my god, that car looks amazing
for sure buying one if i get the chance
Fantastic car, one of my all time favourite BMW's.
It’s *SO QUIET* despite being so fast & powerful!
7:20 And to me that's how a car should be. Who has the time for track days anyway, not to mention people gets mad about buying a car that costs more for way less. Car should be comfortable with a nice interior, fast while having creature comforts & reliable.
Such a beautiful car. Excellent spec as well…..I always preferred the E31 with 16” rims.
pop up headlights, v12, red gauges, those sounds, that fucking car phone... hahaha
very elegant in all white color scheme
and I thought we had bad roads in Romania. Really love the car man.
A clean, crisp style of today, not a car with all sorts of poor appearance. No fennder flares, exaggerated wheels and tires, just clean and crisp.
V12 manual and pop ups are all it takes for some nice edging :D
Just my dream car! How lucky you that had the chance of feeling and enyoying that automotive masterpiece!
this is the best looking bmw ever made and this particular configuration is the most desirable. most are automatic so this is rare
Had one of those, as manual, long time ago. The difference in performance between 6 speed manual and 4 speed auto is dramatic.
sounds like a pair of straight 6s strapped together, but with a bit more rumble. it's lovely. I miss these BMW interiors, makes me miss my E39 530i M-Sport.
I had the same car. It was awesome until everything on it broke
32 years and still drives excellent.
Hey bro Love from India 🇮🇳 ♥️i like your reviews about cars learnt heel-toe downshift from your video 😊
This and an R107 are part of my dream garage.
One of my absolute dream cars that I never actually want to own.
850i, 850CSI, E9 3.0 CSL, and M6 from the 80’s are favorite BMW’s of all time. The funny thing about the 850i’s at 100 mph the windows go up automatically.
Fantastic, as always.
Those were the peak BMW days
I never seen e31 850i manual wow !! I think this car is kinda extremely rare !! Even good condition !!! Thumbs up !!!!!
One of the most desirable BMWs ever made. So classy, understated, and elegant.
this is a cool car. nice v12 cruiser
I owned a 1996 850 in azure blue with light silver grey interior. I sold it while still under warranty before it could BMW, Break My Wallet. I remember driving 135 mph across the Arizona desert.
No new BMWs look this stylish and sleek.
I have a 1998 850ci individual, I love it so much.
all these beauties and now they come up with i5 i7 toys.
Very Beautiful Car ❤❤ when I was a kid I had a poster with this car in my bedroom.
favorite childhood car, still a marvel
Cudos to the owner for keeping it so pristine! I am not much of a BMW fan but this 850i is a uniquely cool and fantastic example! 🤘🏻
First car ever with CAN BUS. This car was technical marvel at the time.
Still such a stunning looking car I miss pop up headlights
one of the coolest cars ever made. thx 4 sharing.
I had a toy one of these. These are so neat
this and the E38 are the two most beautiful BMWs
Those glorious enveloping dashboards must return.
V12 and a manual in an old BMW, what else could you ask for? Toned down spec for a relaxing video, to be fair no "intro" for the no commentary intro was even necessary. Very relaxing watch.
Always love to take a break because I know when I'm back I'll have the next couple morning/afternoon coffees packed with my favourite creators' videos. 😁
This really was peak 90s BMW.
My ultimate dream car. I don’t know when or how but I swear I will own one some day. That’s also very close to my dream spec too, the white looks gorgeous on them
I was just chatting about tin cans and 5 liters.. they changed history...and this bmw video posts up.
Such a beautiful E31.
I think the E31 is the best looking car BMW ever made. Of course the 850CSi is the ultimate but this is still a very good looking car. It captures the handsome muscularity of the BMW saloons of the time, but in a pretty coupe body.
THIS IS ART . just this.
The segment from 1:50 onwards is just superb. I unsubscribed quite a while ago, due to the lack of interaction with the car's features on several videos... I'm so glad to see them back! I hope that you keep it up.
2:34 That was breathtaking. It's always scary to open and close the sunroof in old BMWs in terms of saggy fabric.
That looked like such a peaceful morning drive, Ted. The BMW v12 seems drama free in nature. I love old BMWs like this, E30, 2002, Bavaria, Z3, but I’m not a fan of the modern Turbo ones.
An absolute dreamcar, very rare to see them in white. Love the sound of the V12 paired to the manual. Beautiful car inside and out.
Looking great with that beard!
Love the looks of that thing 🔥🔥
So cool! I personally like the shape.
People always say that the automatic suits this car more... well i kinda agree but that 6spd manual is fantastic🤌🤌 never realised how quiet these are inside
You can tell this car was built back when you didn't need 20"+ wheels and stupidly ginormous grills to make a vehicle have a presence.
Perfect technique closing the hood only touching the center portion. The front outer corners of the hood are extremely easy to bend due to the cutouts for the pop up headlights. Once bent, very difficult to get the headlight cover panels to align properly with the hood.
Thanks for working through the gears quietly with the radio off. What a motor…and a manual! This car sounds and looks like it should: a big expensive GT.
This was a large car back in its day, only the 7 series was longer…but the visibility has to be outstanding with those slender A and C pillars. Is this BMW’s most beautiful in-house design?
8:07 mid 90’s cars with the thin doors were so nice before side impact ratings made doors all thick and chunky. You don’t realize how much a thick heavy door adds not only weight but makes the cabin feel small.
Calming.The car and the video.
Your videos are class keep them coming ha
My favorite BMW ever.
I had 4 models of those as a kid when the 840/850 was first produced carrying them everywhere with me - always have been enamored & still amazed when I see them in rarity these days 🔥
such a beautiful car
Охринеть! V12 на ручке! Те времена, когда делали настоящие автомобили. 👍
Lovely car. My boss had one as a winter car…interesting on snow.
Обожаю классические модели BMW. Какие они были классные, честные, живучие... 👍👍👍👍👍👍
не то что сейчас, ломучие гаджеты на колёсах.
