Micheal and William are both very different people but at the same time too similar. Like you saw, Mike has a passion for music and dreamed to become a musician one day… but William didn’t believe it was an actual career and wanted him to work on his business like Terrance. William always had to be more strict with Micheal, and that is mainly because he often gets in trouble. But in the end, Micheal was never enough for William… he couldn’t be his brother. He wasn’t as smart, responsible or self-sufficient as him.
In a way him and Elizabeth were in the same boat. Both of them wanted love and attention.
Elizabeth also wasn’t enough for William, he often overlooked her and ignored her, despite Elizabeth doing her best to make him proud. She always followed the rules and behaved perfectly…. But nothing. Meanwhile, Mike acts out and takes his anger out on others, he also wanted attention and he really didn’t care if it wasn’t positive attention.

Sadly that is a real thing my aunt is actually quite neglectful to her kids and so my cousins are growing up learning that negative attention is better than nothing so they consistently do bad things to get that negative attention and it's quite sad

William doesn't realize he damaged his relationship with micheal severely not just by rejecting his son's dreams and interests but also create the problems with his brothers were micheal have low hatred for both of them for Terrance from being dad's golden child and angry from being unable to have his own identity and for chris angry about him having all the attention from being the baby of the family and also fear of being replaced from William approval.

2) i love how William even makes it Clear he doesnt value anything other than academic success at the start.
Terrance says that hes not good at Art or Sports, and william immediately dismisses both as Useless hobbies. Meanwhile those are both Mike and Beths Strong suits
This one line alone shows how little he Values Mike and Beths Talents perfectly.
More importantly if theres ever an Alive AU, i cant help but see mike become a Professional Musician. Not like Pop star Famous but rather he becomes a Music Teacher or He Plays Performances at Gigs like bars and Eeddings and the like

I know every afton is messed up, but the twins are the ones who are REALLY fucked up, I mean, imagine being Michael, being the black sheep of the family, the troublemaker just so you can get a bit of atention from your parents, and then imagine being Terrence, the good child, but the one in the eye of everyone, always under the expectation of perfection, the golden child, the responsible one, whose carry with the example and the family in some times. Always under pressure. Both of them being compared most of the times.

Not only he would constantly compare him and Terrance and belittle him while at it, he disregards his dreams and passion without even trying to understand how or why those are his passions. Hell, William doesn't even let Michael explain himself about what happened at school so I'm not surprised that he doesn't even bother to listen to Michael about his passions at all

And Michael is completely in his right to hate William, as is Elizabeth. As for Terrance, regardless of how he tried to help his brother, he wasn't really listening and he literally told Michael to 'go die' essentially. And Michael did it. So I don't forgive him, William OR CC. Because wha CC did was just as bad imo. Mike didn't mean for CC to get hurt, it was an accident. And CC ended up killing Michael with his mental attacks. So, CC isn't off the hook either :P
