Andrew Bird is undoubtedly one of the best violinists I have ever heard/seen. this kind of mastery can't be taught in schools, it's got to come from within, and that's why I love what he does so much. there's nothing about it that screams pretentious. it just exists as a tangible, beautiful thing.
I hadn't really heard any of Andrew's music until today. I knew he had been on stage with one of my favorite bands (My Morning Jacket) in the past, but I didn't look into him until I found out he would be playing the main stage at The Forcastle Festival in Louisville, Ky. on Sat., 7-14-12. I will be there mainly to see MMJ end the day's music on that same stage, and I wanted to make sure I staked out my position early in the day. I am really looking forward to Mr. Bird's set! He is Great!
sorry for the late reply... when this was originally hosted on pitchfork's website, the tracks i uploaded were all they uploaded so i doubt he played that song for this specific performance.
seeing him live compares to nothing else i have experienced in my life. he is beautiful.

Is he wiping a tear at the end? Or is that just him predicting the audiences reaction? Absolutely stunning.
I feel like I died and went to heaven when I hear him.
The term "musical genius" is thrown around alot, but Bird more than earns the right to be called one.
I completely agree!
Back here for the millionth time and I’m more than happy about it
