Love the mental approach with the problems with hitting. Were totally the jones, and our little guy has tons of talent and it has hit me square in the nose. On our way to being the lovejoys!! I never had this issue when I was a kid and always remember my dad leaving me be and when I hit a homerun one game he gave me a highfive and gave me props for things I did well but I dont remember him once being negative or telling me how to do things. Its all related and I'm stoked I found you clint because its spot on and I'm gunna dive in head first with myself, my son, and his mother!

Love it Rick, spoken like a true Lovejoy!! It's soooooo hard not to over-coach your kid. I did it today a little bit and should know better! Being aware is like 90% of the solution. Good luck to your boy Rick!!

Clint McGill Thanks. Its a wake up call, and its about time there was a mental approach to it all because after all, its 90% mental and 10% physical. I like the approach that being nervous and a tad scared is a good thing and the emotions of the game, its just all about how we percieve it and how to channel it. He loves to pitch and does it well but has complete control of the ball and its in his hands the whole time. I was a pitcher myself and believe it takes a mentally tough kid to be able to stand on the mound and be consistent, and he keeps his emotions in check and never gets to high or low and smiles a ton. I know he has it in him because he shows it on defense. Its all mental with his batting, the pitch sequence explained in that story is him to a tee, standing tence, hesitent, and when he does hit it, its a dribbler to a defender. The program is a tad spendy but I think knowing the problem and changing the wording and way I talk to him will help a ton.
