My friends brother in law came up with this car and I just couldn’t believe what Image this was. Its raw power and its attitude is truly unique. Dreamcar!
I have always believed that there are certain showbiz people I don’t find super attractive onscreen, but know that if I were to see them in person, I’d be floored by their singular beauty. I get the feeling that’s the story with this car. It is clearly attractive, and a technological masterpiece, but I won’t dream about owning it until the day I actually see and hear one drive by. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for bringing us along!
"The V12 is not in AMGs future"... That's right, but it doesn't mean that Mercedes will take it completely out of their cars. It will still have a future in Mercedes-Maybach models. AMG means "sport" as well... and with a 2.4 ton heavy V12 model, this is something which isn't suitable any longer compared with the rest of their more sporty car line up.
You could realistically have a C43 cabriolet though. It looks pretty much identical (especially if you change the grille), is much easier to park in big cities, significnatly more fuel efficient (I know it's a sports car, but doing 10MPG just isn't funny anymore in 2018) and only cost you about 1/4 of the S65.
V12 will become historical, just like leaded petrol, carburettor and hydraulic steering. Doesn't mean they weren't great inventions of the time, but sometimes we do need to move on and look into the future. What's the point of saying "I drive a V12" when at least 6 of those cylinders are shut 90% of the time? The upcoming performance hybrid drivetrain (not the shitty one in Prius, more like the one in La Ferrari), e-turbo are super exciting and give unbelievable performance gains (look at the way motor racings have gone) with better throttle response than N/A cars and the running costs will be much more accessible to 99.9% of us. Finally, I can think of one Mercedes car that should and hopefully will continue to run V12 - the S600 Pullman.
Sure, the progress within technology is a good way to go for making cars more eco friendly, but then you'd be driving around on a electrical lawn remover sounding like complete silence, how fun is that? Not to mention the fake sound coming out of the speakers these days.....
it's towards the END OF 2024 and this automobile makes my heart skip a beat with it's design, masterpiece engineering and that suprime comfort and the power it possess underneath the bonet, is something that is specially made with me in mind
My thoughts as well, they cutting out that edge that makes the 65's rule the road as the king of the Mercs. Bad bad move, V12 is V12, not turbo fettled V8 stories.
An exclusive Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet innovation, AIRCAP® is an automatic virtual wind blocker. Utilizing a speed-sensitive airfoil that rises from the windshield header and an automatically height-adjusting see-through mesh screen between the rear head restraints, AIRCAP helps keep top-down driving quiet and draft-free even at highway speeds. And unlike conventional wind deflectors, the rear seats remain fully usable.
Sure. If you are using open roof, basically you are in the City and not traveling with your luggage. So it's fine. If so, let your roof closed while transporting your luggage. I have z4 2009, and it's perfectly fine, having no space in the trunk while your roof is open. New z4 will also have soft top which I find stupid idea.
Any owner of S63 and S65 amg coupe or convertible can confirm me that air suspension lift the vehicle to improve ground clearance? Mercedes states 1.5 inches, is it true? I really need to know
excellent review just wondering in your opinion do you think this looks better externally then the new 2018 bentley gt ? And also does it it get attention on the road thx
He makes you want to buy this car. He may want to work for Mercedes-Benz. I've watched this video at least 5 times an when my money gets right, I will purchase one.
Well there is a big difference. Brabus produces all of its components themselves. And you get a 100.000km or 3 years full and complete warranty. No other tuner offers that. Plus Brabus has 40 years of experience. So I would definitely bring it to Brabus.
Not really. When you put this car in it's segment, with the Continental GT W12, it is actually a bargain. W12 Continentals run anywhere from $250k (base!) to the low 300's. A maxxed out S65 was like 265k at most and that means every option and top spec. So in reality... it's not expensive at all for what it is. It's where it, or was, supposed to be.
Bad design where the Mercedes badge is, there is a gap on top of the badge it looks like something it's missing. Looks like the owner himself modified the car and glued a big badge in front of the car.
E63, G63, C63, AMG GT - super cool cars. But the S class is supposed to be quiet, sleek and luxurious. Not loud and obnoxious. I get it - they produce it because it makes revenue. But it just looks stupid. It's a different type of vehicle. It's a yacht, not a speedboat. The s600 is the best S-class in my opinion.
To me, all ragtops are ugly. Never saw one that looks as good with the top up as it does top down. Additionally, over time, it will wear from the weather. They have fallen short with this one. A quarter million dollar car should have no weaknesses
I fantasize about cruising gently down a trendy boulevard on a balmy summer evening, all eyes on me and The Flamingo's _I Only Have Eyes For You_ on the Burmester. Don't knock it until you've fantasized about it.
Not worth it over the s63 imo. The 4.0 v8 AMG is pushing on a lot of their cars is too good to pass up and spend so much more. Regardless. Beautiful car... just need the night package tho :)
There’s nothing better than this combination of luxury and sporting drive
What a car , in my eyes better looking than bently and RR
No way. Those cars have much better proportions
Definitely bettet looking. I dare to say that, IMO, the coupe is the best looking car in the world.
Arslan Khalid worst proportion ever
@@NovieBigSad The Bentley is about 3/4 ft smaller and the RR is about double the price but slower.
@@azharsattar7653 Aesthetically, the British cars look stunning whereas this looks bloated and cumbersome IMHO
My friends brother in law came up with this car and I just couldn’t believe what Image this was. Its raw power and its attitude is truly unique. Dreamcar!
It's always a sad day when a V12 will no longer bless the roads with its presence.
Very sad hope they bring it back
SO TRUE! FUCK THESE ELECTRICS AND HYBRIDS!
Between 5, 6, and 12 cylinders i worry these are my favorite types of engines
I love my v12 engine

i watched this review 50 times oh my god this car is a masterpiece only the new Bentley GTC can compete with this car
Own the Bentley, just drove this Mercedes for a week. This is a masterpiece of engineering that surpasses the GTC or Dawn.
Words fail me, thank you for yours!
Kenneth Coleman Thanks, Kenneth!
That price just blew me away. Beautiful car though. Definitely catches my eyes on the road.

No. MB said it themselves, the V12 is going extinct…
Best S-Cabriolet review I have seen! Good Job!
Glad you liked it!
'So beautiful it hurts' that we can't all have it 😋
i don't think rich people cares about depreciation. they'll just buy whatever the car they want without giving a crap unfortunately.
Why unfortunately?

Buy it in 5 years.
billandyeng I highly doubt someone who can afford to pay for this car is worried about MPG.
It's almost perfect. "Almost" because I liked the previous grille and front more.
"almost" because lacks awd that is essential for a well rounded granturismo vehicle.
Probably the worlds best engineered
soft top luxury cruiser
thanks for this amazing review ! this v12 sound is so magic
It's only $250k? then what make a typical Bentley and RR $300 - $500K+?
Whoever Whoever Brand...
The V12 will still be built for Maybach and Pagani, but as Steve mentioned, they will not be used by AMG anymore. Too bad I say!

I would if I could. I’ve sat in the Bentley coupe and was not overly impressed with the material feel, although it is a beautiful car as well.
So Steve, did you enjoy the S65 more than the Dawn?
AJ Lee I did. Just more fun to drive.
some times...a dream is just a dream
This car has it all.
What a beast and a great video!
Yes. We love it.
A used 2017 model with around 15k miles is $140,000 on the market. That’s a steal compared to $260,000
Oof Ouch Owie the depreciation and maintenance costs hurts. But who cares. If I were filthy rich, I'd buy one and worry not much. Super elegant car.
It’s less than Aston Martin and Rolls Royce
@@jmextinction2158 Exactly.
I dont like the soft roof but the rest it’s beautiful lovely
I dont know why but when someone say perofmarnce combined with luxury my first taught is Maybach 57s.
That’s dumb for AMG to omit V12 engines in its future for Mercedes Benz. It should always be offered as a higher price option.
My thoughts as well, they cutting out that edge that makes the 65's rule the road as the king of the Mercs. Bad bad move, V12 is V12, not turbo fettled V8 stories.
Those gauges I mean ipads look so cheap on a near 300k car. Look at how well the gauges of a Lagonda has aged
What's the purpose of the wing-like structure that comes out from the top of the windshield at 5:55? I apologize if I missed its explanation.

In Austria this car starts at 334.399€ / currently 380.000$
I didn't want to give the coupe version back, either.
why would you need to use the wireless charging on your phone if its already charging as its plugged in? Beautiful car.
CarPlay only works with a wired connection. So if you want the convenience of wireless charging, there's no CarPlay.
Being an owner of a Cl63, S600, and SL600 the V12 is hands down faster then my CL63 and I have 5.5L V12s not the 6.0 like the S65
