Have this anorak, and love it. use it for most things, but mostly casual outdoor use. Wore it in the 1.th December snowstorm we had in Denmark - this it did not handle well. So use it for anything else than really bad weather.
So you wouldn't recommend it as a rain 'jacket'. I'm looking to buy a good rain jacket, for my commute to school/work on a bicycle. I live in Copenhagen.
When fully waxed it is windproof, wash that wax out and you have a much more breathable piece. With the right layering underneath 5-7 degrees won't be an issue in the Vardag Anorak.
Looks good. Really likes it, however not sure the sizes. I am thinking between L and XL, checked onsite and L size in chest has 104 cm exactly what my chest has, however I would like to have some extra warm jumper under the jacket, therefore my question is if XL will be better choice?
taking into account the outdoor market has been flooded with variations of SoftShell & HardShell jackets. i just can't see where this fits in. how is this anorak going to be better than a fully waterproof & windproof outer shell?
It's just a nice, breathable outer layer when it's not absolutely hooning it down. I'd wear it over a cosy fleece when taking the dog for a walk in the local woods, or popping down to the pub in it. Harry
Great video review and beautifully shot. I tried this anorak a while back and got trapped inside it in John Lewis. That might just be me being basic though!
Couple of questions: 1. Are the side zips two-way (aka pit zips)? 2. How accessible is the kangaroo pouch when wearing a backpack with waist belt? Thanks
Nope. The side zip is on one side only. It's designed for ease of getting it on and off as well as ventilation. The front pockets have good sized openings so you could access with a normal waist strap on a rucksack.
There is a large side zip that should make putting on/taking off a breeze. We've heard mixed reports that you can exit through the top too to ensure glasses remain firmly in place, but that would guarantee a loss of dignity and potentially balance, so we'd probably recommend the side zip and over the head method...
If the logo placement is traditional for anoraks that’s cool, personally I would have preferred it on the sleeve, hem or chest. I just tried the Kaipak from Harry’s video and it was a bit small, next I’ll try the next size up or revisit Skogso, Keb or this one!
Got a kaipak. Not waterproof. Mine got destroyed on Scafell pike when it was blowing a hoolie. Maybe I should of reproofed it before going out in it…oh well!!
@@trekitt what I do find is with fjallraven is that it’s not really for British weather. That’s just my take on the brand. I love the stuff but I can’t quite put it into a use full out in the field bracket. Apart from my keb pants

Ben Does have quite a long torso, but if you've already tried the Vardag Anorak in person and not found the length to be suitable, that's fair enough. The back length is measured by Fjallraven as 79cm, both the Singi-X Anorak (86cm) and the Anorak No.8 (88cm) have longer back lengths, maybe one of those is more suitable for your needs .
Is there anything in particular you couldn't watch? Hannah now works at Montane and Paul is still here but focusing more on the 'how to's' and more techy videos. Harry

Agreed, Fjallraven produce some thicker, more weather-resistant options for severe conditions, but this is ideal for everyday/light outdoor use. Harry
Even if it was waxed?

Have this exact colour. Love it, agree it's roomy. Wouldn't be my mountain jacket but a big fan for evenings in town or on woodland walks.
Yep, spot on. Not a mountain piece but ideal for everyday use/low level walking. Harry
For that reason i recommend a jacket for £45 .Still a big mystery why this jacket is £250
@@mensinanis5274because it is a quality item.
I like this anorak i have the fjällräven no.8 anorak, that anorak is te best there is!
Good review, thank you.
Hi, was this windproof and do you think it’s enough for weather with 5-7 degrees? Thank you.
When fully waxed it is windproof, wash that wax out and you have a much more breathable piece.
With the right layering underneath 5-7 degrees won't be an issue in the Vardag Anorak.
I know they are slightly different jackets, but given the choice would you get the Vardag or the Skogsö? great vids btw!
I'd probably go for the Skogso for trekking/backpacking and Vardag for everyday use/occasional hiking.
Yay for Tess!

Possibly, but I can't say for sure. Might be a good idea to order both sizes and send back the one that doesn't fit.
Hi, went to one of the London stores and tried them on. Happy I have found them, due to ended ordering size M. Thanks for respond too
Hello! My height is 178, weight 85. I ordered size L, will it be too big for me?
I have read a review of some who wrote he is 186/85kg and S fit him with space for under layers.

Hopefully you made an escape eventually, being stuck in an Anorak in John Lewis is not the survival situation any of us are prepared for.

What Niall said!
How does one get in and out of such things? Will I lose my glasses, sense of balance or dignity in the process?

Is it deep olive or deep forest colour? I cannot find this exact colour..
Ben is wearing the Deep Forest colour in this video.

Will be about right I think. It looks good when a little looser anyway so I wouldn't go too small.
@@trekitt thanks
Hey, did you buy the anorak? If so, does size L fit?
Hi, I bought an anorak, but it's size M. It fits me perfectly! There is room for a sweater or jacket. L will be big@@victorll8731
do not have the deep olive color anymore sad😥
Deep forest is pretty close though: www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/fjallraven-mens-vardag-anorak-deep-forest__42715
How noisy is this fabric? Rustle free?
Whilst not totally silent, the fabric is a lot quieter than most outer fabrics, especially when the wax has softened through use a little.

Most Anorak's do have a central logo, but I'm not sure why! The Vardag is definitely roomier than the Kaipak, Skogso and Keb. Harry

The Vazrdag Hydratic Anorak has been released since this video was filmed, which is indeed waterproof. Now we have the choice of either.
I bought one second hand and the sleeves are short af
The sleeves are definitely on the shorter side on the Anorak, no reaching overhead!
Number 1 functional need for an anorak - is it waterproof in bad weather? Answer - No. The end.

No, not waterproof. It acts more like a softshell.
