It has to be said. It has to be called out. Last night Fox News censored one of the most dramatic and crucial presentations made at the opening night of the Democratic convention. Three young women offered their personal testimonies of the anguish, hurt, damage, soul-searching, risks, and recovery they experienced when confronted with pregnancies that nearly cost them their lives due to draconian anti-abortion laws. While these three young women related their tragic circumstances to the crowd, silently both stunned and emotionally-connected, Fox News cut away and didn't, show ONE MINUTE OF THESE TESTIMONIES. I know because I switched over from one channel airing all to Fox which aired none. This media censorship was clearly intended by Fox as these stories were too powerful and heartbreaking for its viewers to confront. Instead, vapid and useless commentary by Kelly Anne Conway and others aired. After the presentations were concluded Fox returned to the convention for a short time. Then Bret Hume and the panel later complained that the Democrats were joyfully celebrating abortion. Such a lie and one that every viewer would know false, only if, Fox allowed these three stories to be seen. Never before have I experienced unAmerican and Orwellian programming such as this by a major outlet that was surely not brave and unafraid. Shame! In support of the importance of the segment on women's personal experience with abortion laws, three out of seven NYT reporters nominated it as the best moment of the night. 1. Michelle Cottle, political writer for Opinion The three women (and one man) who shared their heart-wrenching abortion stories. In the midst of all the good vibes, it was a sharp reminder of the concrete stakes of this election. 2. Binyamin Appelbaum, member of the editorial board The stark power of the personal testimonials from women denied access to pregnancy-related health care. 3. Michelle Goldberg, Times columnist I can’t decide if it was A.O.C.’s barnburner speech, Shawn Fain lambasting Trump as a scab or the women who spoke so bravely about the anguish Republican abortion bans inflicted on them.
That's awful, but not at all surprising. Fox only works by keeping its viewers in a complete information bubble, which is why it's so difficult to "talk sense" into these people, since they really don't have a grasp on reality - literally. Thanks for letting people know.

That's the truth. It should always be noted we heard trump tell Woodward covid was airborne and deadly. He told the public several different lies implying it was no big deal. Donald is 100% responsible for thousands of deaths.
I feel like what you and the rest of the team are fundamentally missing here is that his speech both put to rest any claims of outward animosity and resentment he's holding on to, and also serves as perhaps the final major speech of his political career. If the Republicans are tying his legacy as a do-nothing President to Harris, here he is saying "we did a hell of a lot in 4 years; here's why it was good for the average American." This was a goodbye moment to a man who stepped aside and gave up power; a historical decision. It's not about saying something new. It's about saying goodbye and pointing to who will lead us forward.

Covid was a traumatic experience for large groups of US citizens. Especially blacks, Native Americans, oldsters, diabetics, schizophrenics, asthmatics, and any number of others I have failed to mention. It killed over a million+ fellow citizens and fractured our healthcare system. But apparently, it was a forgettable experience for healthy younger white males and nobody really needs remember it or drag it up again. So much for compassionate conservatism.
it was also traumatic for anyone living with AIDS. I lived through the AIDS crisis in the 1980's/90's. I saw the republicans in action at that time. and they had no compassion. none. they only had judgement. as mr. caputo is showing us right here-they are the same party today that they were back then. nothing has changed. they have learned nothing. this is why they can embrace a Donald Trump. this is how they can embrace project 2025. this is how they can lie with no shame. this is how they have been. this is how they will always be. it is devastating if you really think about it.

Talking about COVID is important. People have forgotten how badly Trump handled it and how Biden steered us out of it. The speakers talked about the death of their loved ones, something NO Republicans would ever do on stage or publicly.
I’ve seen comments on multiple channels from people saying they watched the entire stream when they’ve only watched highlights in the past. I personally had chills many times during multiple speeches because they moved me so much. President Biden’s speech may have felt repetitive, but that’s because we’re still facing the same issues. Also, as a Georgian, I was SO PROUD of Senator Warnock. His speech was electric and inspirational. As someone who has been a bartender off and on through most of my life, I was energized by AOC. I watched a lot of the RNC, and I did not feel the hope and inspiration through the entire convention that I felt in the first night of the DNC. Sure, there was energy, but to me it felt motivated by hate and divisiveness as opposed to unity and inspiration which uplifted so many at last night’s opening to the DNC.

Dude, this is a celebration for Democrats . You aren't steeped and INVESTED in our traditions and policies. That was what Night One was about. A celebration of achievements HARD fought and won. Lessons learned. Love for our President and his tremendous 50 years of service and heroic sacrifice. We aren't critiquing his speech the way you are. Night Four is the reach out to Mod Republicans, Independents and Undecideds. The next nights are future focused.
All Biden had to do in his speech was no harm, and beyond that, he was free to do anything he wanted. In my book. And he did no harm. In fact, he looked and sounded healthier that he has in a while. Probably all that stress of running being taken off his shoulders. He wanted mainly to talk about his accomplishments? Ok. He just sacrificed his career and gave up the nomination for the good of the country. A patriotic act Trump couldn’t fathom. So, let Biden do what he wanted.
I was transfixed by last night’s speeches, and felt so damn proud to be an American and a Democrat. Hilary, AOC, the Union leaders, Warnock, Jill, Biden’s daughter, Kamala’s brief appearance, the media clips, the women speaking on their abortion experiences, SO MANY POWERFUL MOMENTS. And the very best part was President Biden’s speech. I was so moved by the obvious care and love he’s had for us and his long service in government. He deserved to speak as long as he wanted to sum up so many accomplishments. And the staccato you mentioned (though I personally didn’t notice it) may be a speech mechanism to control his stuttering, so you can eff off with your criticism. I get this channel isn’t pro-Democrats but rather never-trumper. But more respect would be appreciated, given your primary audience. Read the room-we’re pumped, ready to embrace joy in the journey again, and don’t need your buzzkill attitude.
Sour grapes. What did you anticipate? This was a thank you and fact based information. He is a hero! Where is your compassion, love and energy for successful past 4 yrs moving forward

Right? I saw a clip from Tim early this morning and he was also a Debbie-downer. He said he wasn't "moved". The thing is, no one can make you feel anything. We all choose, even if it's reflexive and subconscious, how we react to something. So with Mark, his reaction says everything about his own emotional health. And no, I'm not saying he's mentally ill. I just think this instinctive reaction is a learned behavior.
Remember, these guys are our temporary Allies. After Rump is defeated, they will be back to chasing the next shiny object the republicans throw in front of them. And trashing anything and everything we hold dear!
Listening to this analysis I understand the reason the Republicans were susceptible to hijacking by a personality cult. The centrist right can't see beyond their own narrow framing and fall into complacency. A little humility would help them understand where they go wrong.
Red State Senate seats are in PLAY!!! Please support our down ticket candidates!! Small Dollar Donors can give Kamala a WORKING MAJORITY in the SENATE!!!
I have never watched a DNC convention in the past I had planned to. I did enjoy it. I will watch the next 3 days as well. I applaud Biden for his presidency and stepping down. I loved all the speeches. AOC was motivating.
My take on Biden’s rather long speech was that he wanted to highlight accomplishments of the current Administration and imply that the Harris/Walz team will go forward and build on these accomplishments into an even better future. Part victory lap (well-earned) and part a glowing arrow pointing into the future. Long, but well done. Thank you, Joe!
Do either of these people understand that we cannot afford to memory hole Trump's horrendous job of dealing with COVID? People died who shouldn't have. Many people.
I agree with many others here Caputo is off the rails. It was an elegant speech by an elegant man who has contributed so much to this country, and who deserves our full appreciation, and does not deserve such comments as you have made. I believe his time to shine was greatly deserved, and history will honor his commitment.
Rafael Warnock, AOC, and Jasmine Crockett knocked it out of the park in their convention speeches! These stellar Democrats will lead us in the years ahead. Harris & Walz💙🇺🇸
I think not only are a number of people on the Bulwark missing the point of the cheering for Biden, but that you are missing the bigger historical point. I believe that crowd was genuinely celebrating a man who has given our country a lifetime of service. Yes, it culminated ultimately in him stepping aside, but what you are missing there is that was such a patriotic moment and only heightens his patriotism and service to our country. While I do not put him on the same scale exactly as Washington, think of how much people remember him for being willing to give up the office as much as they remember what else he gave us during his life time as a patriot.
No, I'm not ready to forget Covid and Trump's mishandling, and I don't think lots of Americans are either. That incompetent, immoral, ignorant handling of Covid killed my brother.
Trump posted at the beginning of this month are we better off than we were 4 years ago. Every example that they offered last night, including talking about covid, answered Trump's own question.
Agreed, we were applauding because he is a great leader! He pulled us from a recession and brought jobs back to the US. I don’t get how you have missed all of this?
@@01SaltyWitch I've been with the Bulwark since the beginning and I am feeling the same. This video and Tim's video last night were way off the mark both in terms of tone and analysis.
When he said, "he went late; he glitched; it was shouty, slurry stuff," I genuinely had to rewind because I thought I must have missed that he turned the topic and started talking about Trump. We obviously didn't watch the same Biden speech last night. He was fantastic and it was very moving.
I didn't see it as placing Predicted Biden last as a front to him. Look, I'm sure people on the East Coast are more than able to stay awake and watch the entire convention. President Biden was the perfect person to close out last night😊
Mr. Caputo, you are full of nonsense!! I watched the entire DNC, every speaker was phenomenal, and President Biden was superb!! Sometimes you guys misread the people. I fully remember the Pandemic and my heart still breaks when I remember the loved ones I lost!! And, BTW, I love Obama, cerebral or not!!
Hilary was the best speaker among many great speakers. Just a great night and Joe was awesome, such a great man. Great example of what a class act Politian is.
The love we the people feel for President Biden is true and general. He is the best President to date!!! God bless you President Biden. Llet's go, vote Blue 💙
Goodlord. Do you understand abortion isn't a single womans issue. It's a I don't want pregnant woman to be septic and die issue? Have you ever loved anyone with a uterus?
Caputo couldn't be more wrong about why all the people were cheering so loudly and enthusiasticly for Biden during his speech last night. Democrats are truly, truly thankful to him for lifting us out of the horrifying cesspit-version of America that was Trump.
One of the things y'all got right is the through line from Obama to Biden to Harris. Married women don't care about abortion rights? Really dudes? Speeches have never been Joe Biden's strong suit. To expect more from him in that regard at this point in his life is missing the point. Half a century of public service. Every time he flashed his twinkle-eyed charismatic smile last night is the Joe Biden I've watched for decades. It will never be too old for me.
So many people on the Bulwark are incredibly disrespectful- so noveau Republican. Rick Wilson should school them. These two are bizarre. Who describes Obama as dull?
and I believe that if the Republicans had run a Nikki Haley ticket the bulwark wouldn't even exist. they'd have returned to their smug tax cut selves. actually they haven't even shed their smug Republican selves
When I listen to an "expert opinion", I expect that opinion to be based on reality. And not ONE word about Jasmine Crockett? That was a waste of 18 1/2 minutes.
Abortion is a single woman's issue? Seriously? Wow. I'm a hardcore democrat but I listen to pretty much everything The Bulwark publishes. This video is the lamest thing I've seen from The Bulwark. Sarah Longwell must have been sleeping while you fellas were having this little chat.
I totally agree with the rating of the best speakers!!!! Hilary and AOC were the best in my opinion. Biden’s daughter was a great speaker and that is what made Biden tear up! Such love you can see in that family! Biden deserved every minute he wanted to take last night, he probably saved this world of an evil 2025 monster, at least for 4 years! Biden is a hero and got more done than all the best presidential speakers in decades so he deserves all we can give him to make his sacrifice go down easier. His most poignant statement was that he was too young at 29 years old and now he is too old. The current authoritarian Republican Party will not give up! Sad and scary and hopefully not true.
Just a reminder. I'm watching this channel mainly because of Brian Tyler Cohen and the temporary alliance with Tim Miller and the Bulwark to defeat 45 and put him and the rest of the world out of their misery. When I see and hear stuff like this, I think, "Oh yeah, they *are* still Republicans..." and I ring in the automatic discount.

no vets on the bulwark .. all well off white folks ...
Talking about COVID is important. People have forgotten how badly Trump handled it and how Biden steered us out of it. The speakers talked about the death of their loved ones, something NO Republicans would ever do on stage or publicly.
My mother died of Covid so I take it personally how Horribly Trump "handled" Covid. One million people died
Any man who respects the women in their life will fight for their rights as much as his own.
Absolutely!
Any American should fight for the rights of another American 💙🇺🇸
We don't think he was responsible for the pandemic. We think he was intentionally negligent, and lots of Americans died because of that negligence.
Sure, there was energy, but to me it felt motivated by hate and divisiveness as opposed to unity and inspiration which uplifted so many at last night’s opening to the DNC.
fellow Georgian here... let's go blue, shall we??? and I agree the RNC with their "deportation now" signs sent such a different signal... sooo positive last nite.. and we love joe biden,,,,,
@@bikingal4283 Yes!!! Any video I see talking about MTG and her antics, I make a comment encouraging the 14th District to review and support veteran Shawn Harris in November! I’m in the 3rd District, and I am supporting veteran Maura Keller! Harris/Walz 2024! Blue through and through!

Georgia you can do this even better than 4 years ago! You all rock. 💙💙💙💙
Caputo is full of it. Biden delivered a great speech.
Agreed.
Yes he is! Joe did a great speech I don’t care what he thinks
@@jeanbergeron6451 I agree!💙🇺🇸
Agree
Agree.
Amen!!
This was a thank you and fact based

Where is your compassion, love and energy for successful past 4 yrs moving forward

President Biden brought me to tears
Same here!
I love that man. His Presidency saved us from spiraling out of control, and I will be forever grateful to him.
Pauses video to head to comments to make sure this is better then the Bulwark's take last night.
Yep after reading comments sounds as bad as their take last night. Republicans at heart (or rather have no heart).🤦🏼♂️
Thanks comments for saving me time.
No it's not.
Seriously. These guys have sucked for 3 weeks
@@kyriedandrow6778yeah they can't see beyond their elitist East Coast perches. plus they can't get over the fact that Shapiro wasn't chosen. because Shapiro is basically Republican lite
I think Caputo is TOTALLY WRONG. It was a great speech. I've never heard Caputo give a speech.
Caputo ‘s comment was lame.
I am amazed that people like Caputo can make a living doing nothing of value. what has he created or entertained crap!
Donald Trump is a two bit Union Buster , a man who would sell this Country for a dollar
In short… well said!

UNNECESSARILY CRITICAL OF PRESIDENT BIDEN 👎
And don't pretend Biden hasn't significantly improved your life, Mr. Caputo. Such disrespect is really sad, as well as infuriating.
True!
Obama has never been boring at any Democratic National Convention. Never. IDK WTF you're talking about
It was a great speech, and Biden is loved! Hillary was awesome! AOC is great and has grown. Biden is loved by Americans!
I have never watched a DNC convention in the past I had planned to. I did enjoy it. I will watch the next 3 days as well. I applaud Biden for his presidency and stepping down. I loved all the speeches. AOC was motivating.
excluding abortion and covid as irrelevant subjects? Is that the pinnacle of these guys wisdom? wow
Wow! I loved President Bidens speech. He’s such a good man and president. Too bad you support Trump! 🤬
We are applauding him for his self sacrifice and his lifetime of public service! Thank you, Joe! We love you!
Yes, that's what I was commenting about also.
what bs this guy says about Biden... his speech was great..
It gave me goosebumps to listen to Biden and I’m not even American! Gave me hope for the world as a whole🇨🇦
i agree
Joe Biden was a phenomenal VP under Obama. I wish he had run instead of Clinton in 2016. He would have been a successful two term president.
I wonder if thats the period he had a lot going on especially with his son who passed.
@@Rell-z9k It was.
he was too busy dealing with another horrible family tragedy
Well, Clinton would have won if it wasn't for one mans actions though; James Comey is to blame for Trumps four years in office.
You know there's not a shred of Grace in the entire Republican world
I like to think of people who were planning on selling "let's go Brandon" merch stocking up RIGHT after he got the nom, just to play it safe 😂😂😂😂
They display it quite grossly don’t they
Jasmine Crockett was also phenomenal!
I was very impressed!
She was my favorite of the night. Also Ashley Biden.
Indeed she was, her speech was short, sweet and powerful just like Jasmine.
I am a married suburban woman and I support Democrats! USA 🇺🇲 USA 🇺🇲 VOTE BLUE 💙 HARRIS WALZ 🇺🇲 2024🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
On Biden: I don’t agree. It was a great speech!!! He did a tremendous job summing things up!
Shame on you! He went out with a bang!
A million of us died from Covid; we dont just forget that. That, I blame trump for. We cannot forget them, ever
No, I'm not ready to forget Covid and Trump's mishandling, and I don't think lots of Americans are either. That incompetent, immoral, ignorant handling of Covid killed my brother.
So sorry 🙏
Trump posted at the beginning of this month are we better off than we were 4 years ago. Every example that they offered last night, including talking about covid, answered Trump's own question.
💙💙🚩🚩I DONT LIKE HOW YOU CRITICIZED BIDENS SPEECH WOW🚩🚩🚩
Agreed, we were applauding because he is a great leader! He pulled us from a recession and brought jobs back to the US. I don’t get how you have missed all of this?
Wtf? Sounds like a hater by 30 seconds in.

They were worse last night. Tim was insufferable. I think my time and patience with the Bulwark is wearing thin
@@01SaltyWitch no doubt!
😅 You are correct!! Totally my sentiments with them. Great vibes must be getting boring for them and they need to manufacture narratives.
Caputo you are the biggest cynic. You should go back and follow Republican politics.

I’m on the East Coast. Went to bed around Jill Bidens speech. But was able to wake up and listen to Joe Biden speech. I enjoyed the convention
Wow, you two completely missed the point. A very idiotic conversation with very little substance or information.
I loved Biden's speech. Maybe because I am not a cynical political commentator.
You seem to not be recognizing the character the depth of their integrity. It seems your comments are pretty superficial.
President Biden deserves our patience and respect. Period ❤.
I cried during Biden’s speech! I’m so surprised you have that opinion of such a beautiful moment
These guys got it so WRONG.
I think Joe made a great speech and honestly his act of selflessness was CLASS ACT AMERICAN
I loved Bidens speech
Biden earned every second on that stage
Hilary was the best speaker among many great speakers. Just a great night and Joe was awesome, such a great man. Great example of what a class act Politian is.
The love we the people feel for President Biden is true and general. He is the best President to date!!! God bless you President Biden. Llet's go, vote Blue 💙
It wasn't a great Speech? I couldn't disagree more. The Biden slander amongst political pundits is just silly.
Goodlord. Do you understand abortion isn't a single womans issue. It's a I don't want pregnant woman to be septic and die issue? Have you ever loved anyone with a uterus?
the best part of this show is in the comments-
Caputo couldn't be more wrong about why all the people were cheering so loudly and enthusiasticly for Biden during his speech last night. Democrats are truly, truly thankful to him for lifting us out of the horrifying cesspit-version of America that was Trump.
My favorite speakers were the UAW president, AOC, and the Senator from GA.
Alot of men care about their wives, sisters and IVF.
I felt the love for President Biden watching from home! That was the point
AOC is one to watch in the upcoming years 👍
I’m loving seeing you guys slowly becoming aware that you’re being swept into the dustbin of history.
For gods sake. Trump/jared said out loud they thought people would die in blue states. 😊

Abortion is not a base issue. The majority of Americans are pro choice, like 2/3rds
That's where you underestimate Hilary Clinton as so many do.
I’m shocked how bad you guys are misreading. Biden, his speech, how ppl feel about him and why they were applauding.
It's funny to watch Republicans grapple with the free expression of human emotions... everything goes through their reactive judgment filter first 😂
Caputo is too negative and maga.
When I see and hear stuff like this, I think, "Oh yeah, they *are* still Republicans..." and I ring in the automatic discount.
same and same! thank you! you put into words exactly how I feel! thank you!
