The first thing you need to do with these TP Extender's is to Reset them! I wasted lots of time setting the 850RE up (and another similar TP model). So as a last resort, I plugged it in and held a biro tip on the reset pin for 2 secs until I got some blinking. Then I unplugged, re-plugged next to my router and used the Method 2 IP setup. It worked first time then.A 5 minute job in the end, once you know how.

What if the wireless light is only solid. It doesn't change, despite me resetting it and unplugging it. I think it may be faulty or just a shite product.

Would the router recognize the extender or would you need to reestablish the "handshake" connection. You answered this PERFECTLY with visual, when you unplugged and replugged the extender to the outlet. The admin access portion was helpful as well. If I were in the woods inside of a nylon structure, I would be a "happy camper" at this moment.
To anyone having trouble using these methods, I figured out the easiest method. If you have an Ethernet cable laying around, plug one end in the router and one in the Ethernet port on the extender...wait a few minutes and they should connect!
Just watched two vids on to how to set up extender, the first was long boring and not so laymen terms,second was this video shorter quicker nice voice which I had no problem listening to. Much better video for this extender!
My extender WAS working fine. After a power outage, it lost the extended signal. Brought it back closer to the router. Plugged it in to Electricity and pushed the restart button on it with a sharp object until only one light was on. Then, pushed my WPS button on my router and pushed the middle white button on the extender. It took a few times to do repeat the entire process (even resetting the extender again) but it finally worked all ALL lights are on the extender. I moved it back to its extended location, and 80% of the lights came back on after a minute or so in this location.
I did step 2 since my modem doesnt have WPS and the setup never goes past the rebooting of the exteder. I already stayed in the same step for over 10 minutes and nothing happens. Any suggestions?
I can't even being to describe the problems I have had with this device it connects and stays fine for a while but then it disconnects and then I have to restart my god damn router because even with the extender unplugged, it stil won't connect.
If u have this problem, it is because; 1. You placed your wifi extender in a dead zone spot simply place it closer to the router. 2. Your router’s wps is off in the routers setting. (Look below for sollution) 3. Your router’s signal sends a 5.0Ghz signal while the extender is a 2.4Ghz signal. Simply change the settings. Look below how. 4. Your router is old and you should buy a new one To fix option 2 or 3 go to 192.168.1.1 on a internet browser, fill in username and password, this is twice admin or twice user. Somewhere in this setings menu u can enable wps and/or change your signal to 2.4Ghz. Thank me later The extender is not the problem here.
We just got a new more powerful modem/router, now I have to reset the two extenders - Arhhh, Hope your instructions work… the first time was easy, because they were new. Now I feel I have forgotten how to do it. Wish me luck 🍀
I got one of those. I set it up the way it is described in this video (my router has the WPS button). All the lights behaved exactly as they were supposed to. But when I look at the Wifi reception of devices in the 2nd room to where the router is, there is zero variation in wifi reception (they're still with 40% or less reception, which is completely unchanged from not using the device at all). I also tried setting up this extender everywhere between the way to see if that was the issue but with no results. edit: Never mind, I just got a 20% increase in reception. It's kind of underwhelming though 😅
mine is exactly like the 3:40 the wireless LED is blinking, is that suppose to be keep blinking? and because i set it to clone. i didn't know whether my phone/mac connected to the main router or the extender.

+Dan Cristian change your network ip manually to 192.168.0.250 And subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 Then connect this router through lan cable. Open browser type 192.168.0.254 and then type user id and password, admin, admin. Now you can access the router page. After setting it, change your ip to Obtain automatically.

Mine is also solid blue. I don't have a wireless PC, just an old desktop. All of my wireless devices are Android devices. Option 2 is not an option. Does this mean that my Extender is virtually useless?

I have connected the extender to the network. And the computer can access the internet through the extender. (TL-WA850RE).However, the computer could not access the network drives which is connected to the original wifi network. Could you please advise a way to connect to the actual network drive which is connected to the original wifi network.

Decided to try it with a new xfinity router and the WPS system worked without a hitch. I did have to hit the reset button, however. That reset button is located on the button.
For some reason the connection goes out on the extended when there is still a connection near the router. Is that a problem for you? And if so how did you fix it?

It seems to work for me if it's not flashing anyways. Tried it with the solid blue, pushed the button down for a few secs and is now working :)

I upgraded its firmware. Its working without dropping the signal now. Mine is V3. So check sticker on the repeater before downloading the firmware

If u have this problem, it is because;

If you have connection problems or whatsoever, just buy a FritZbox extender. I think They make the best Extenders in the world.

How about if you're configuring the repeater with a PC that doesn't have wifi. It should be possible to configure it over a standard lan cable.
At what least distance is required this extender to be connect with main router in order to maintain the signal with the main router

WPS turns off automatically, you know? after a minute or 2 leaves pairing mode
its best to plug into a wall outlet because it receives the wifi more clearly extending and boosting the range from a wall

I use a wireless wifi usb dongle for internet so doesn't have any wires or wps buttons. How will I connect then to extend my range??
