Yes, I’ve found the same thing, the aluminum discs perform so much better in durability and smoothness of page turning. They’re worth the extra expense, in my opinion. And they look so beautiful. There are actually other brands that make aluminum discs, but Levenger has the best name recognition. Thanks for sharing. :)

Just bought the Staples brand - first time user. Thanks for the review!

This is really excellent. I have the tul plastic. I want to get the metal discs. I love this notebook system.

For people that have one brand hold puncher, but you’d like using the other brand paper. You can use tape to go on the outside and just re-punch it also depending on what type of tape you use it gives it an extra hold to where it will last longer and the paper will not tear. I have a lot of notes that I want to keep for years to come, and I basically tape all of my edges just so they don’t tear.

Thank you for this overview! I'm buying my first set of discs and will likely go with aluminum. ❤❤

This is so interesting, thank you. I'm currently experimenting with Atoma discs, both in aluminium and plastic, but haven't decided which is best yet. I have used ARC in the past, in every size, but all the Staples stores, here in the UK, have closed down. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for watching! Levenger has a sale right now. Good time to buy the aluminum... ☺️

Love the heavy-duty Levenger punch, and the Levenger size/shape hole as well. Just don't drop this plastic punch on the floor :-( That said, it still works, and I can easily punch through cardboard and plastic to make my own dividers and things. FYI - Levenger-punched pages stick out over the tabs of some of my HP dividers, also a sad thing. I bought a HP punch just because I love the Work+Life planner dividers (and found I could use them permanently, covering the first half of the two month spread on the back with attractive coordinating paper).
The silver aluminum discs that came with that planner look nice - but overall, the aluminum looks a bit too fancy for the cheap plastic look of HP. LOVE the look, feel and smell of Levenger leather foldover notebooks and softfolios. I just wish they had a wider selection! If you crave a delicious leather experience, Levenger is awesome. Pay attention to the styles that cycle in and out, and wait for a sale to snag something pretty (like I did with the pearl white leather).

Hi. I just came across your video! So happy to have someone explain. Question which paper has the reinforced edge so it doesn't tear when you pull it out. I am going to get the aluminum disc and i am running out of my paper that had the green dotted lines that were reinforced. Looking all over for it. Does anyone know and can send a link?

Thank you so much for watching! I haven't used paper with a reinforced edge. I haven't had issues with paper tearing since I use that thicker smooth HP paper. But maybe someone else knows and can respond to your message.

I have watched so many of these videos looking for a disc size comparison and no one ever dives in on that.

I think I just had to purchase a bunch of different sizes and use them as needed. But I understand that seeing each size in comparison would be great. I'll look through my stash and see if I have enough different sizes to make a video.

@@creatingwithyana I’m transitioning to discbound and trying to decide what size rings to purchase - 1.25 or 1.5. Any thoughts?

@@Greatsoprano12 when I started disc bound I got 1" and right now most of my binders are comfortable with the 1" discs.
