I almost bought a Salsa Cutthroat just like that, but since all of my riding friends were Kansas State fans, I couldn't show up with a bike sporting Kansas University colors! I really did like the bike, though...
@@assortedmountainlife I ended up getting a Specialized Diverge with full SRAM Force. I ride a lot of gravel and the headshock on that really smooths things out…
We were there between May 17 through the 20th they had the road at avalanche lake close due to bear activity you could not ride any further than this route or whole week.
sorry about that! it was like that starting Sunday the 15th. I got there just as they were closing the road down. it's been a weird year for riders. much more snow, much colder April and May. I'm curious if they're gonna open it past The Loop any time soon. it's just a judgment call at this point if they want to risk it.
Yes, it's possible, but the crews will be working in the morning and early afternoon on snow removal and they'll have the GTSR closed to bikers and hikers at Avalanche campground area until about 3pm. After that you're able to ride up to The Loop. It's possible by May 17th you'll be able to ride past The Loop, but they've been extra cautious this year after some riders got stuck behind an avalanche last year early in the season. Go in the afternoon and you'll be good to go the full allowable distance.
spent 35 years doing the road. in the 80's, fewer than 25 others seen on busy days in the 90's, up to 50 the 2000's 100-150 2010-s 250 and more AND e-bikes (and guns) too much. way too many. way too many with attitudes same with the trails and access to Logan pass. i have pics from atop Oberlin (my early season place to go) at 10-11 a.m. and the lot is barely half full. by 2015 the lot fully filled by 9 a.m. too many people goodbye Glacier. loved my time there. loved every one of the over 3000 trail miles i logged. loved the dozens upon dozens of summits. loved the backcountry camping under the stars. my parents ashes are at the far end of avalanche lake, looking out toward heaven's peak. but i may never be back to visit them. too many people. too many rude people. too many with attitudes. love the park - - - hate the people. the people drove me away. where the hell did they come from and why the hell the arrogance, the rudeness, the sense of privilege, and the hate. loving the Andes now. friendly people, beautiful scenery, great natural foods, and affordable health care and travel. will never come back to the U.S....

Hi there! Do you know if you’re able to bike GTTSR on weekdays? Or is it just allowed on weekends? We plan on biking May 17
