    I'm a fan of mineral, especially when they're as nice as on this Bulova.
    Mineral glass is less reflective and makes the dial stand out more.

    Very expensive for a watch with a base Miyota movement. But it sure is pretty.

    • @RoaroftheTiger
      @RoaroftheTiger 2 года назад +5

      I agree. That Movement doesn't justify that Retail Price. But the '82So' is their Best Variant of the "8000" series. So much so; That they actually do some decorative work on it. Also, It's the exact movement used in VARIO'S Trench Watch.

    I like this watch but I wish they had a different color options like a traditional black dial. It is on my radar.

    The A- 11 was the Principal WW II Watch issued NOT only to American Pilots; But Also, Servicemen in Leadership Positions i.e. Platoon Leaders (typically Young Lieutenants) & "Non- Comms" (Sargents & Corporals) The Mil- Spec Case Size was only 33.5 mm. But the slight "bump up in size is fine. P.S. The Lug size on the Original was Only 16mm in width, So the 18 is very welcome. Which is unlike what Bulova did with their "Mil - Ships" Diver ! The Original 'A-11' came with an O.D. Canvas Two Piece Strap. And It was SHORT by today's standards. As It was too short for Any Wrist of 6 1/2 Inches !

    I don’t understand why companies keep releasing watches with only 50 m of water resistance? If this watch had 100 or 200 m of water resistance, this would be a great all-around vacation watch. But with only 50 m water resistance, if you were to go on vacation, you’d be forced to bring at least one-if not two-more watches with you.

      I've swam with plenty of 50m watches. No issue at all...

      Are you planning on diving 200m ... i think probably not . I'm sure it will be splash proof for the pool

      @@hadenoldfield4557 50 m water resistance isn’t enough for swimming in a pool.

    • @handcoding
      @handcoding 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@BrianDPrice1 That’s not how water resistance works. To swim with a watch, you need to have at least 100 m of water resistance, given the additional forces on the watch created by swimming itself.

    18mm lug makes a watch look so much smaller than its diameter.

  • @finesse49
    @finesse49 2 года назад +1

    According to a couple of references I found, the original Bulova A11 had a 30mm case. I doubt they'd sell very many nowadays at that size.

  • @bt3750

    Super thick plus the nato strap. It has a Miyota movement so could be thinner.

    I have an original A-11 by Elgin and IMO this watch is not faithful enough to the original. The increased size is great (the original is about the size of a quarter), and I like how they've preserved the basic proportions of the watch in the larger size, but the colors of this edition spoil everything, making it look like a fashion watch. It should have a matte black dial and white seconds hand. I'm bitterly disappointed, as I've been looking for one of the original brands to create a reissue of the A-11 in a larger size, but Bulova's total disrespect for the original colors makes this one a non-starter for me.

    Nice looking basic watch. If it had a sapphire crystal and killer lume, I might be interested.

  • @gordonanderson6216
    @gordonanderson6216 2 года назад

    I can't see the point of that strap attachment, if you are going to accept that the strap is going to pass over the case back, then just use a single pass nato, much simpler and more secure I reckon.

      Everyone wears watches differently. I have worn watch everyday for 7 years and have one scratch on my hardlex, no other crystal of any materials have been scratched by me. Even my swatch (the box scratched that). Maybe wear your watch like you have a watch on and don’t worry about the crystal.

    • @yoinkhaha
      @yoinkhaha 2 года назад

      @@RandomRobReviews Well everyone’s entitled to their opinion about watch crystals, and you are right everyone wears them differently. Which is why it’s important to give the viewer the information they need, which is that mineral crystals scratch and can’t be buffed. Every one of my minerals is scratched except one after 1-3 years of use on them. It’s very common. It’s great you are so graceful, but these crystals WILL irreparably scratch, them’s the facts.

      Facts? Be careful now. You CAN remove scratches from mineral. It has been shown many times on video from other channels.
