What is an RTU Unit? RTU stands for roof-top unit. All the components, including the coils, compressor, and fan, are packaged into a single unit on the roof. Traditionally, most HVAC systems have some components that exist outside, and some that exist inside.
The RTU HVAC unit provides all the heating and air conditioning needed for your space. The heated and cooled air reaches different areas in the building via ductwork and registers. You’ll also have return registers to pull air back into the system.
Other types of HVAC systems have separate components. In an air-cooled split system, for example, the condenser is typically located outside, and the evaporator and fan are inside. Also, you’ll need a separate boiler or furnace for heat with a split system unless the system is a heat pump.

I know what's wrong with it, it's York they need a better unit.
Haha that's a good one 😂 Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
Doesn't matter what brand it is, if you don't take care of it!
@@chris66b55 Facts 💯💯💯
On those older York boards you can bypass the compressor delay. If you hold the test and reset buttons on the board it’ll let you bypass it. Good stuff!
Central cooling is good and economical. Well done, you are a great technician
I say that unit needs tender loving care.the business matinance guy needs a good talking excellent work dude your the man
Interesting and helpful video. Well explained. Great job JMT.
Thank you! Glad you found this video interesting & helpful. Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
You got the touch (and the experience) bro!
Haha thank you! It's all about attention to detail. Thanks for watching & commenting. Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
Great work and well produced video, always great to compare procedures without the bull thanking you.
With a really low discharge temp . cleaning the evaporator coil is the priority . loved to know what the full load amps on the evaporator blower motor . got to check if you made a follow up video . Thanks for showing
Thank you, I follow you from Barcelona, Spain
Thank you, Good way to explain how to find the problem
Thank you
Thanks for all the clarifications. Can you simplify the explanation?
Sometimes I'll use electrical tape and use that to mark what it is and where it goes. Most manufacturers use a number system with or without a letter as well. Trane is a perfect example. Every wire is black and you absolutely need the wire identification to know, unless you mark it. I just replaced 2 of the 3d scrolls on an intellipak. Everything started up with no issues because i marked the wires and used the diagram to confirm.
Mark your contactors too.....helps the next guy or an inexperienced guy out.
Great video and awareness too bro. Great find keep up the hard work and thank you for your videos!!!
Thank you! It's all about the attention to detail👍Sometimes your eyes are the best tool. Thank you Robert! Enjoy your weekend🔧⚡️
A new York in … New York 💪🏼
Haha big city of dreams! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🙏🔧⚡️
Hello pls, rotary compressor and Copeland compressor which is the best?
Great job bro 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻..air cooled package unit.
Thank you! Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
Oriet bro👍🏻🤙🏻
Question the y’all found out why the mini splits are having the same issues it looks like the boards and compressor are going out with the same issues?
phew!! another amazing job & video! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback 🙏🔧⚡️
What’s your video set up?
20 ton unit? The way things are going you may not even be allowed to maintain these in a few years...
I need to look up the model but it's between 10-15 tons. What do you mean I may not be able to maintain these in a few years? Is it because R410A is being phased out?
@@JumpermanTech It's New York. You'll never know what the harebrains in office are going to do next. They've already banned gas in new construction.
Don’t waste your time the leak is on the condensing unit. They use the aluminum coils at the copper connection. Every single one of these units leaks in the exact same spot. And if it’s not there, it’s under the pressure fitting on the discharge line right at the compressor. It cracks as well due to vibration.
Can an apartment in the hostel whose key is missing cause us a problem with the cooling system and the apartment is on heating?
What was the return temp? And what was the code you cleared when you reset it?
Return was around 75 degrees & I didn't notice any error code. The unit never was able to receive an error as the face of the thermostat wasn't on its base to even start the machine. Also, it doesn't look like the low pressure control is working as it had a low back pressure for 410a & kept operating. Thanks for watching!
If you notice in the beginning of the video you had a 6 flash code. That’s a low pressure lockout on circuit #2.
@treborwhite Thank you for that! I didn't notice that. I believed it was circuit 2 that was running. Found it strange that circuit 2 would come on first instead of circuit 1. The pressure was definitely really low for R410a. I was surprised it was running.
@treborwhite OK so the LED on the left that flashed 6 times is flashing a code indicating an issue. Noted👍
The cutout is 50psi so it likely turned off again after you left since it was running just above 50psi when you were gauged up, given what you’ve found I would be looking for an airflow problem
Really cool job. The question is what camera are you shooting with and how many video frame settings. Is it 4k or FHD 120fps?
❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! I am using the GO PRO HERO 8 BLACK. It is capable for 4K but I'm actually shooting in 2.7K because the 4k overloads my computer and freezes up. Not sure about the fps. I would need to look into that. Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week🔧😎
@@JumpermanTech Really amazing. Although I have a GoPro 10, I am not good at using its options. I wish you success and give you good news for your really quick response. You are a wonderful person.
@@JumpermanTech Unfortunately, after recording, I transfer the videos to the phone via Wi-Fi, but it seems that transferring the GoPro videos to the phone loses their luster and quality😴😴😴😴😭
When you walked up to the unit, the flash code said low pressure compressor too, and then you reset it and did all this extra work but still have not fixed the actual problem
those like to rubb out above the txv"s
Thank you for the tip! I need to do a follow-up here. The back pressure is low but the head pressure isn't. Need to spend some time here. Stay tuned for new videos every week!
You can spin the covers around on those contactors, so the specs are right side up 🤟
Also the 6 flash code on the simplicity board was a low pressure lockout on circuit 2.
Appreciate the advice! Thanks for watching!
@treborwhite Thank you! I seen you wrote that in another comment as well. I haven't dealt with much York packaged units so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks for watching!
Is this in New York?
I think you should check the refrigerant charge before change the contactor and fix the real problem first and at the end replace the contactor. I am going to give you 2.5 stars.
Follow up
Definitely need a follow up 👍 Thanks for watching!
Think you were getting an error code too. Why wasn't the other circuit running?
You could of switch the front cover plate to not read them upside down
Thats a good idea. You mean the contactor cover plates correct? Thanks for watching!
@@JumpermanTech you can do the back mounting plate as well. So the coil line’s up with the control wires and mounting screws. Make it work for you. So when the person sees that you took the time to make it look right. Respect! I worked for JCI/York for years as a start up and Warrenty tech. I always did that especially if they knew your a factory dude. I retired after 35 years last March. I miss the crew and the accomplishments fixing things. Just my body couldn’t do it anymore. I enjoy retirement , grandchildren and my Harley driving on the west coast overlooking the beaches 🏍
@samuelaranda4568 Thank you for the tips! I can understand the way you feel. Wow 35 years. This is a very difficult trade to be in that long. Congratulations on retirement! That's awesome man, enjoy that bike & beaches. I also ride a motorcycle. Enjoy with happiness & good health 🙌🔧⚡️
Wow, those old contractors looked burnt.
Oh yeah! I pointed it out to management & they approved the contactor replacements. It was a smart decision for the future 👍
It's a full jumping
Why not pull the old contractor set the new one then re wire it smh makes life easier way easier
Great work and well produced video, always great to compare procedures without the bull thanking you.
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback🙏 Always something new in this field. Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
