Just wonderful, I keep replaying these beautiful concerts. Such a source of joy and beauty in these challenging times. The music and the amazing performers bring such happiness to my soul and spirit.
yes a lovely intimate concert by established and growing stars... What a treat is has been to see the inside of the house, looking out to the Garden, rather than the other way round. It will change the way I experience the festival in coming years.....I hope...
I am perplexed by how Theotime plays without the chinrest! I have played without a shoulder rest for many years, but thoroughly rely on my chinrest to keep the fiddle from falling down! Such facility! Love the steady stream of videos lately.
Great performance and great recording, by the way. Slightly surprising microphone placement for a harpsichord, but the final result is excellent! As a baroque fan and amateur recording engineer, I appreciate the amount of work put into both performance and production. Thank you for this New Year gift! What follows is just a note; you may or may not find it interesting, but anyway. As I can see, the sound is normalized to approx. -23 LUFS, which is as far as I know the TV standard. RUclips loudness limit is -14 LUFS, and most videos are close to this level, so this video sounds substantially quieter, thus making listener reach out for volume control. I personally find -16 LUFS to be a reasonable integrated level for my amateur classical music productions. Just a note.
To keep the viewer entertained, I guess. You see, the nature of a chamber performance is such that there is not much movement in it, and a static view can easily become boring. But the exact pace of switching views is a matter of taste, of course.
@@mariashuliakovskaia9707 Totally with you, and I find it so annoying that I even have to stop watching it, though I do appreciate the quality of the filming in itself...
@@baroque_engineer Well, as a viewer I certainly don't need to be "entertained" in any way, when watching a filmed concert. I want to get an overview on the artists, some close-ups, yes ; but I don't want to feel as if the director was afraid of me getting bored! How could we ever get bored anyway, with such music and artists? :)
Perso elle me submerge Mais merci Excuses JPhilippe
Estoy Esperando.
Lovely concert to hear as long as you don't watch. The constant intercutting, panning, and changing focus distracts from the art. Fire the video crew and get some simple stationary cameras.
When you are a performing artist, please go to the hairdresser and try to look representative. When I show up like that at work, I will be sent back home!
@@LilieRolie Thanks for agreeing that the quality of the vid increases without looking at it. This however is RUclips and not Spotify. When I just listen I hear a pseudo romantic interpretation and hysterical tempi changes that do not justify the era of the composers. People without any historical or musical education will love it.
I think that's too harsh an assessment (sheep-like, really?), but it's true that her charisma and delivery convince people that she is the complete package vocally - and that's not correct. When she is on the opera stage with other singers she doesn't have the 'close-up' scenario like this that magnifies her strengths and makes the size of her voice a non-factor.
Décidément je suis une fanne inconditionnel de
W christie et des arts florissants . J adore tout !
What glorious music making. How lucky for those of us who were fortunate enough to see/hear Les Arts. Florissants live.

You know you're at an untouchable level when you can get away with wearing red socks with brown shoes.

As the chin rest is an 19th-century invention, most Baroque violinists do not employ one.

Heavenly music! Does somebody know the name / artist of the 10 second intro music?
Pure delight
beautiful
Are these wonderful recordings available commercially in the (sad)post Brexit UK?
schön zu hören
Gemans music is iron, Italian is birds, French is flowers.
A beautiful first piece. Thank you for sharing...There's too many cameras and too much camera moves to be able to watch and listen.
