In honor of female duets featuring gorgeous music, would love to see your response to this amazing performance! ruclips.net/video/7eO0hhfq5RM/видео.html Melanie C and Emma Bunton singing I Know Him so Well
I love how “Loathing” and “Defying Gravity” have dissonance to demonstrate how at odds they are, and then “For Good” has these beautiful harmonies to show how they have reconciled with each other.
Love this version - still nailing it 15 years after it opened on Broadway. My absolutely favourite part of this song is when they switch parts on "I do believe I have been changed for the better". Cheno is famed for her high soprano but I LOOOOVVEEE her low note on this line. Clever bit of writing too, showing the characters can now truly see each other's perspectives
Once you’ve seen the two of them break down into tears during their final performance together, you truly understand how much they care for each other. Even after all this time, the two are still the best of friends and sound *glorious.*
people forget that being in a musical is more than singing you also have to act. kristin and idina will always be my favs because no one acts the parts like them. their for good is my favorite because of the emotion they bring into the song!!
This was the musical that introduced me to Broadway....it has such a strong emotional connection and I still love it, almost 15 years later. 😍😍😍 especially these women. So good.
Same..at 16 i watched wicked as my first musical on a trip to London with my school band, and lion king next day. It got me into learning about Broadway and livestage Musicals. Fell in love ever since. The musical truly hits different. For good and defying gravity hand's down my favorite tracks. What a wonderful duo. 15 year's later, im now 30 but i can still vividly remember the scene in my head.
My mind may be playing tricks on me, but compared to there original recordings...... this version feels like the are remembering more then preforming. It’s blows me away every time I listen to it
I love this song so much! All the seniors in my high school choir sang this as our senior song the year I graduated, so it holds a special place in my heart. Every time I hear it I remember how it felt to sing it at the last pop show performance knowing that I would never perform with those people again. It was such a bittersweet feeling.
That piano starts and a tear rolls down my eye every time. And for fun my favorite karaoke songs are Mack the Knife, Werewolves of London, La Bamba, and Sweet Transvestite.
This song does a thing that I absolutely A-DORE about the harmonizing between Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked. Earlier in the show with any duets and harmonizing, Elphaba has the low range and Glinda gets the high one, speaking to their relative roles in the show and to each other. In For Good, they swap registers and Elphaba takes the high range and Glinda takes the low, which speaks of their character growth so much. Glinda is more grounded, more aware of the world and Elphaba has become more confident and more at ease with who she is.
Love Idina and Kristin so much. They are beautiful ladies who have absolutely stunning and magical voices and whenever you hear them sing it just stops you in your tracks. I wish everyone would stop believing the rumours that they hated each other because they love and respect each other which you can see in any interviews they had together and/or individual interviews. There is one interview where the interviewer asked Kristen straight out if the rumours were true about the fighting and hating each other and Kristen said no and that having Idina be elphaba and standing alongside her on stage that she wouldn’t have had it any other way. There is no hatred between them only respect and love and as you can see and hear in this performance of for good that they mean every lyric they sing to each other and because of all that time they worked together side by side and all the wonderful moments they shared together that they will forever remember them, be grateful for them and that they know they changed each other for the better and for good. Love you Idina and Kristen. ❤

now that the series is over, I'll be opening the poll for the Wicked videos I missed or deserved a second chance soon just like with Six and DEH. Don't worry!
Just a question, would her breath be effected by her asthma, I know when I played the flute in high school I struggled getting through long phrases coz I found it difficult to deep breath properly? I don’t know if that would be similar or not to singing but it was just a thought (I also have asthma).
Actually Ari's grandma was working on the set of wicked and she introduced a ten years old Ari to Kristin saying that she wanted to be a professional singer. Kristin gave her one of he Glinda'd wand/prop and tell her to always follow her dream. Maybe this wand did have some magic who knows?

Also, in For Good, Elphaba sing the high harmony while Glinda sings to lower parts, which is a contrast to how they sing in the rest of the show

Stephen Schwartz is nothing if not clever.
EXACTLY. In fact, they switch parts sooner than that, with G going lower and E going higher. Listen for it.
