    That's unreal. It's amazing how small the entry's are on the coal mines. Did they cover them up in most cases?. The openings had to have been really big back then, and what about roads. They needed to haul the stuff out of there somehow. I don't see anything like that in your videos.

    Need a crew to explore all that. Returning later? Gotta see it all(safty first of course) You should have a meet up sometime. Whats the farthest you went in a mine( time or distance)?

    • @AmazingPennsylvania
      @AmazingPennsylvania  2 года назад +1

      The furthest I ever went was also one of the easiest, mostly just walking for a couple miles. The deepest was the most mentally and physically demanding. It involved climbing down, crawling, rafting, roping down further, then navigating the mine!

  • @jeffreyyoung4104
    @jeffreyyoung4104 Год назад +1

    Was the entrance collapsed after the mine closed?
    I could not tell in the video, but the cable, was it a wire rope? If so, then they may have used it to pull the carts back up the incline shaft?
    Truth is, there may be many drifts to the sides, but as the drift played out, they put a gob wall over the drift as it wasn't needed any more.
    Love mines, but I love caves more! But mines sometimes gets you into a cave otherwise inaccessible!

    • @AmazingPennsylvania
      @AmazingPennsylvania  Год назад +1

      I agree but everytime I think I found a cave it turns out to be a mine entrance. I'd have to travel outside northeast PA to find some good decent size caves

    Are these all in the northern field? I live in the eastern middle and all the ones ive found are either flooded or get way too sketch due to the pillars being robbed. Im jealous haha.

    • @AmazingPennsylvania
      @AmazingPennsylvania  2 года назад +2

      Yeah but it's almost the same situation with flooding and collapses. Overall what remains is a tiny fraction of what was once open and worked

    • @AmazingPennsylvania

      I believe that was only meant for air flow. That opening may have been even smaller back then too

      @@AmazingPennsylvania If that portal was just used for ventilation there might be the possibility on an extensive explore of that place to be able to find another way out at the main entrance of that mine. 🤔 Sooo cool to think that could be possible man.
