Always the best blogger. You cannot do away to the Akan language. It is like trying not to learn English and see if you will survive. Decide not to use the dollar and see how you can trade internationally. If Ghanaians were to be truthful,Twi should have been made our second language because it is the most highly spoken language in Ghana

Whether they like it or not, twi is our common language. We will continue to speak twi everywhere we go in Ghana. Twi is the only language that enables Ghanaians interact among themselves without having to speak the colonizers' language! And twi has continued to grow from strength to strength. More power 💪🏾 to the twi language!

You are very right, my brother. America has 50 States, but all of them have agreed on one language, which is English. This doesn't mean that people cannot speak other dialects in their respective homes. It is only in Ghana that we prefer to agree in speaking English instead of our own.
Whether the non Akans like it or not, the Akan language is the way to go.

My point of view here is that Asantes and Otumfour should stop being too nice to these people because no matter what you do for them, they won't appreciate you. Look at the nonsense Kani Gloria is doing in the Asante region???? Can this happen In the Ga region, volta region or even her own Northern region????? No matter how much you bathe a pig, it will go back to it dirt. Stop being nice to people who doesn't value you. And appreciate the people who appreciate you. Even the Bible said in the psalm 91 that I will acknowledge the people who acknowledge me.

Nobody forces anybody to learn any language. Nobody used to learn Chinese some years back. But now Chinese is learned in most countries. Your economic power and business influence dictates how popular your language becomes. When the time comes you will learn the Akan language. Only the myopic confines himself to one language, especially those in the villages. Refuse to learn the Akan language and see whether you can survive in the business environment in Accra.

I think Asante Twi is the central Twi, spoken by most people in Ghana. So Twi is mostly associated with Asante. Years back, Ga people in Accra had same concern.. Unfortunately, Twi is gaining the general acceptance.im Accra. English is widespread today because most inventions and innovations of technology, computer and ICT are led by the USA. In the same way, Twi is widespread cos of promotion of culture and music by Asante. What is happening today in Ghana is a coordinated nationalism by other tribes against Asante cultural imperialism. Asante is to Ghana as US is to the world.

I think the hatred was fueled by Rawlings revolution. Most of the people killed or their businesses and properties seized or destroyed were Asantes. In the beginning of this fourth republic, the two dominant political parties were spearheaded by both tribes. Although the Ewes have lost their spot and dominance in the political scene, they seem to bemoan their fate and hold their suspicion against the Asantes. Who created the Kente cloth, Who owns the name Kente, where Komfo Anokye was from, are some of the issues the Ewes have been dragging with Asantes.

This is all because during Rawlings time ewes were treated as first class citizens when it came to employment in most government institutions, thus they were given preferential treatment over mostly akans and that birthed the perception that they were the most intelligent tribe in ghana but when the tables turned and Kuffour came to power those preferences stopped and fairness became the order of the day. This really angered them because they seemed not to understand why something they have enjoyed over the years come to an abrupt end hence the hatred. They have realized that whenever Npp is in power they dont enjoy those preferences, that is why most of them have been attacking and demonizing Akuffo Addo and claiming that he has done them so wrong and so bad.

      All these could be facts...
U know, guys! I wasn't aware of these tribal hatetred until my university days at the University of Education kumasi campus ooo!
U see ewes always grouping together for things ! Even students' politics koraa
Ewes supported their own, and they intentionally stood for all the positions!
Surprisely, they got some akans to be on their side....long story short, they lost the elections. And an ashanti guy won! At times when I met them and I mentioned my surname, they asked which tribe? Fortunately, I am nzema, so they're OK!
Some of them are good but
      some ooo!😁

Every language deserves importance in Ghana. There’s nothing wrong with Asantes also learning other languages too. Ewes are only protecting their heritage, so is Asantes. Let us not intimidate others with your language and look down on them. We go to school for a reason, why we all learn English and most Asantes refuse to learn English. Whiteman protected their language so is ewes also protecting theirs. One Asante once said: Why are you a Ghanaian and you don’t understand Twi? Now: why are you also a Ghanaian and you don’t understand Ewe or Ga? Most Akans refuses to learn about their environment and later get intimidated when others are speaking their language around them, so is everyone else. We should all learn to tolerate diversity. Nobody wants their language to go into extinction.

But funny enough majority of you Asantes can't speak English. Who forces asantes living in Germany, Italy, France, China to learn these languages? You people are behaving like if you can't speak Twi then you can't function as a Ghanaian, that's a foolish mindset.

Twi is the common name of the Akan literary dialects of Asante and Akuapem. Effectively, it is a synonym for 'Akan' that is not used by the Fante people. It is not a linguistic grouping, as Akuapem Twi is more closely related to Fante dialect than it is to Asante Twi.
Mr Prempey can you tell me exactly which of the Twi language are you trying to defend

In which language has she written her post? Why not intensifying the efforts to de-anglophonise her region and Ghana as well? Is English for Ghanaians or for the British?
Go to Asia, all over Asia, they use their languages for education and everything but, they still spend huge sums of monies to learn English to promote international trade, tourism and for economical gains. Who would go to China to trade if there is no single person in China who can speak English? How could it be possible to interact economically, read and sign contracts in China and other places if there was no one language that is widespread like English?
Such people like these are just myopic and should not be given attention.
