    This is a good interview because this interviewer is asking some real questions instead of the usual dribble. And Mick is enjoying it during the whole sequence!

      Sonja Barend did this interview. I'm from the Netherlands and she had her weekly talkshow and did some amazing interviews. And interviewed big time celebrities. And always treated them like the man or woman across the street who had something interesting to tell. And did her job very well. She's retired now, but still going strong!

    I believe that an interview like this was not what Mick Jagger expected and surprised him in a positive way.

    Sonja Barend comes across as straightforward and honest, asking Jagger things that are on many people's minds, and that is actually much more refreshing and interesting than your more "typical" interview.

    Love the Rolling Stones BTW! Gogo Mick! You're gonna be fit even when you're 100!

    Haha, in the end he's like..."are we still on..?...why?" seconds later he's like: "Enough of this, byeeee!". Awesome.

    I think that he's become the consumate gentleman over time with age. There are plenty of interviews with him in the '70s where he was quite snitty with the interviewer, who are admitedly borish, but Jagger was either doing himself no favors with his attitude or adding to his mystique--depending on how you wish to look at it.

    In the meantime Sonja Barend has retired, a long time ago, while Mick Jagger has just finished his latest tour with the Stones and turned 70.
    A fun moment, when he manages to make an experienced pro like her look a bit shy and girlish, for a moment, at 1:59 Clearly two contemporaries.

    • @herbertdarick7693
      @herbertdarick7693 2 года назад

      And Mick Jagger had a child at the age of 77 and Sonja couldn't match that, but that for other reasons.

  • @aarfeld
    @aarfeld 16 лет назад +2

    Yes, he's really quite gregarious and gets far too much of this line of questioning. You'd think that interviewers would tire of this line and move on. The Stones are aging into a late career very well and with great dignity. Perhaps they'll go out the way that they came in: as a great Blues band like our Chicago heros, who all played well into their 80s. Happy 65th in three weeks, Mick.

    @Squarepeg No.. but stop being polite..In the first plase a journalist ought to ask questions that are interesting to hear and see.. not behave as if he's a just a friend asking friendly questions

      ik denk niet dat ze zit te soppen maar een jeugdige celeb-crush is heel waarschijnlijk
      en dan die vragen van ´jullie gaan toch nog wel een keer stoppen´ wij weten nu nee dus
      maar dat zei jagger ook (ook rond die tijd) dat als john lee hooker en bb king op hun 80ste nog
      optraden dan waarom hun niet dat is 20 jaar geleden

    When I watched this interview on TV I felt a bit embarrassed. But now I guess Mick wasn't annoyed. Sonja is of his generation and a WOMAN. Maybe he just thought: she is asking me the same questions as I do myself every morning :-)

    • @jurjenvanderhoek316
      @jurjenvanderhoek316 2 года назад

      I am pretty sure he did not like it. The questions were stupid and insulting, and she did not let him finish his answers. He is just too much of a gentleman to show his annoyance.

    Jagger remains a real gentleman while the interviewer is a bit embarrassing(as Sonja barend can be).
    Well done Mick.Hope you can still run and jump when you are 80.

      @@kees422 Yes brilliant. The stones are still doing good blues and very good ballads . The are the best Rock 'n Roll ( Live ) band in the world. Even now and also without poor Charlie Watts

    He’s got some patience should have walked off and it would of been justified. I don’t get all the questions about being to old for music I’m 34 now but even in my teens I never thought they should stop. It’s not a job it’s just something you have to do and I’d like to think they’d be doing it in some way without the success and they haven’t had there spirit killed by life. He’s the greatest frontman of all time by a large margin it’s crazy that I’ve seen some people say Freddie when he’s no where near Micks level I’ve never seen Freddie do a rooster 🐓!! Good voice but ain’t got the moves and like Jagger or the danger that he used to have 60s and 70s
