@@SchuminWeb Cool, I honestly don't know why Metro didn't use this opportunity included the 4000 Series in the contact aswell, even in 2001, they were about 10-11 years old, maybe thats to young for a mid-life rehab, but Metro could've easily rehabilitated them in the Mid to Late 2000s. Still sad their gone.
@@dreamyyx_3762 Yeah, the 4000s were waaaaaaaaaay too young for overhaul. I also completely get why they retired them early rather than overhauling them. It was a relatively small series, and considering how much the design specs changed on the cars, it makes sense to just order more new cars and get a full 40 years out of those rather than rehab older ones that only have 20 years left in them.
@@andreivillasana2798 3000-Series actually took about five years to complete. The first 3000-Series railcars to be rehabilitated were delivered in 2003, and the last cars were rehabilitated in early 2008. My last unrehabbed 3K ride was April 18, 2008 on 3289.
Oh, so Metro had already started rehabilitating the 2/3000 Series even before 2004? I thought they had started around 2005, lol.
I want to say that the contract was awarded in 2001ish, and then the first rehabilitated Breda cars entered revenue service in late October 2003.
