Tell Jay that he didn't experience the full effects of LSD exposure from your trap because the Lexapro chemical and its vast buildup in the brain very seriously renders many of the most common, and most commonly exploited, neurotransmitter levels, functions, and junction activities very closely controlled and essentially inert. A standard dose of psychedelics / hallucinagens for individuals recently exposed to antidepressants in even small quantities (let alone large ones like with Jay's chronic buildup) is almost always completely or partially disaffected and completely powerless and useless. Similar effects of blockages are common with the chemicals found in "molly" (i.e. MDMA, MDA, MDMC, etc.) So Jay inherently requires more Molly to adjust his neurotransmitter ratio such that he approaches the effects of empathogens or entactogens. And he never experiences the full effects; hence his desire to use compulsively and his ability to avoid or recover from the post-session depression and brain drain. Ultimately, you could call this Lexapro impairment a shield. Or you could call it a waste of fun with chemicals. You decide. -Top 1% of my graduating class: Enrolled in the world's absolute premier (or runner-up ranking depending on the year) graduate institution for neuropsychology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, abnormal psychology, psychometrics, Psychiatrics, Medical Schooling, Medical Research, University, Corporate, and Classified Public Laboratory Institution Experience, Real-world Application of the Sciences, etc. -Firsthand experience with chemical exposure experiences for over a decade. -Undergraduate, Graduate, and Post-Graduate Doctorate Research, Education and Professorial experience exceeding ten years. -Similar experience of fandom of LoS (~10 years). -Lifetime fan of comedy - Including George Carlin HBO Specials at age 3 (that I know of, maybe earlier) and George Carlin narrating Thomas the Tank Engine tapes since my first weeks of life; well before my first birthday. Interesting episode. FYI, regarding the 2 min convo starting at 1:50:28 , Lexapro (escitalopram) which Jay says he takes is used as both an antidepressant and an anti-anxiety med. It's a depression med that also treats anxiety. Viva la harm reduction! thank you erowid etc

holy shit.. I started lexapro during this bs and it is a real game changer... symptoms exactly the same as big J. thanks for sharing dude glad it's not just me!
Ive been getting really bad anxiety lately for the first time in my life. Im 38 years old and never had any issues. Now especially when im at the grocery store i kinda start to freak out in my own head. Its really weird. It feels like im getting a adrenaline rush out of nowhere. My freiends and family tell me to go see a Dr. And take antidepressants. But im not depressed and dont wanna get on some kinda drug. I feel really helpless which i think is making it worse. Nice to get this off my chest.
Prescribing SSRI’s for anxiety is common. They may not work for you but they might help take the edge off. I got put on Zoloft for my anxiety but I didn’t like it, made me very monotone and zombie-like.
Hearing big jay talk about the exact same type of thing I’m dealing with atm is genuinely very helpful a few weeks ago I was at work, I work in a kitchen and the other chef I work with couldn’t come in that day and so I was all alone making food for everyone it was supposed to be an easy Sunday but turned into one of the busiest services of my life I was making food with out stopping for a solid 9 hours before I realised I didn’t have enough dough made to finish the long line of cheques I already had left n that combined with the type of person I’ve been for the past 3 years were I just try to show my strongest side at all times never giving in i just broke n had a full blown panic attack looked like Toney soprano as I slowly hyperventilated into a non conscious state ever since then the shakes n the fear and the panic attacks have been very prevalent on a weekly basis, I have a good understanding of my own mind n what sets it off so I’ve been taking steps to fix it n ease my self up but it’s difficult when I got responsibilities n my body just won’t let me take care of them, but honestly hearing big jay describe all the exact same symptoms n how it affected him has been the most therapeutic part of my week thank you
Wow... another clue to help me figure these weird symptoms out. Thx for doing this ep big J and Ari 🙏 like it's crazy how relative this is. Ive been taking Remeron for a few years now, I never had the eating thing, actually, I never had any side effects from it. And it doesnt do anything for my depression, I just take it for my difficulty with sleeping. Its brave of you to go into that right-drug quest, I started it years ago with Venlafaxine, but that was a horrible experience, that, in addition to watching a friend of mine go through that rinse repeat process of going on a drug and then kicking it, was enough to make me not want to go through that. So I resigned myself to a life of crippling depression for my then foreseeable future. Now I am just a functioning depressed so thats nice.
I agree strongly with your sentiments about the bravery; most people do not realize how wildly inert, dangerous, or as a whole volatile the outcomes of partially modified brain chemistry can be. I for one, as myself neurochemically, and as a Professor in The Johns Hopkins University transitioning to Princeton, absolutely despise Remeron. But I don't mind Dilaudid, Fentanyl, Sufentanil, and Alprazolam, to name a few. Point being, to each their own, and I praise that which is therapeutically ideal for you individually. I hope you make progress on the Remeron, and as a fellow fan of the show I wish you the best. -9
