This is the controller that I have. I absolutely love it. I upgraded from a Numark mix deck. Also it can powered with only the laptop, you have to make sure the laptop is charging. Thank you bro!!!
Just bought this as a backup controller! Owned the SR for years and was a solid little unit, it finally became unreliable and this will replace it for pop up events and I love that it is small and lightweight compared to the FLX10 and 1000 SRT especially in a flight case.
I also have the sr2 and have had it for years. I’ve played on a lot of controllers, for an beginner to intermediate dj it’s definitely a great controller to start with
Currently have the Pioneer DDJ-SB was thinking about upgrading to either DDJ-SB3 or the DDJ-SR2. Both are DOPE!!The SR2 just has more features and with added turntables more firepower!
What a complete and beautiful review of this amazing controller. I've been on a RUclips binge of controllers for quite some time and I gotta admit, your review of it is one of the best and most complete reviews I've ever come across. Thank you for explaining what posts later means, I wasn't 100% sure and now I know that I had the right idea but you still explained it well and reassured me. I was going to go for the 1000SRT but I don't think that would serve my needs right now and it's also almost $1,000 more expensive. I currently own the DDJ SB2 and I've seen beginner and intermediate and even professional DJs use it so I know I don't really need to get anything else but I would like to invest and get this controller because I know that at some point I would need it anyway so why not get used to it right away and have my SB2 as a backup. Thanks again for this great review.
Upgraded from they DDJ SR to the SR2. Just to let you know my DDJ SR went through some heavy usage on the road. I traveled with this unit in a flight case. I upgraded to the DDJ SR2 and I love it. The unit never sits, daily use and has been out on many events, I never had any issues and I squeeze every bit out of this unit from the sampling to the pitch features and It's true what you say about the software effects but when you manipulate it enough it gets the job done. It's compact and a fantastic mobile unit. Thank you for your channel bro, I really enjoy it, Double thumbs up.
Thanks for the content i will be getting one today !! Been looking around to upgrade from my SB2 . i was gonna get the 1000 or SX but I'm gonna take your advice and get the SR2 . Great job !!!
The SR-2 is a worthy controller. I strictly use it as a back up controller behind the 1000SRT or the Rane 12s and mixer setup. Great content as always!!! 👍🏾

Great video and bang on!! -This is a controller I would put on the "essentials" list and should be one of the founding members of any equipment roster or main uint for a variety of gigs. Thoughtfully provisioned with a variety of hookup points and features it checks all the boxes. Additionally, this controller will get you used to many of the features found elsewhere the Pioneer line if you start adding multiple setups. Lastly, post COVID I expect will be a trend for more restaurant and small venue gigs as places try to encourage business and the DDJ-SR2 is a portable versatile controller that will serve you well for those type of gigs where space and power options are limited compared to a venue with a purpose built booth.
Tomorrow I am buying this. I have a Pioneer ddj sb2 that is hardly used. Still in prestine condition. I will put it on the market. Can't wait to get my hands on this SR2. I just wish it had longer range tempo sliders. Not a deal breaker for me though. ✌
You convinced me to buy this one. I almost bought the Rane One controller. But when you mentioned the lack of XLR outputs on the Rane One's, I totally went and got this one. 👍
This controller is bus-powered (doesn't require the AC adapter), but if you're gigging for long, I wouldn't trust the bus-power 100% (plus it's not as loud as it will be in ac power). For short performances, it's fine. The needle search is a huge feature I use to skip the track to the middle on the fly, and adjust the gains to match the previous tracks, but controllers now have the search as buttons (like the DDJ 1000 SRT) that do the same thing. Otherwise, solid controller, very portable for travelling, and has everything you need (minus a 3-band eq mic channel). Awesome video!
I love my SR2 it was the perfect choice for me cause of the XLR outputs and also compact yet loaded with features. The only thing I wish it had that’d be awesome is the jogwheels like the ones on the SX series that light up more than just the ring
@@snaxx101 it's more of a luxury than anything, it'd just be nice to have for convenience purposes. I also wish built-in effects were included but that's not likely since its a $700 controller

I used to own the original DDJ-SR. My biggest gripe was being USB powered only because it would suffer from feedback noise when you turn it on. This looks just like the DDJ-RR all the way.

Thanks as always for the video. I currently rock the ddjsb3 and was looking at what yhe next step would be either the SR2 or Sx3. The SR2 seems perfect execpet for the lack of on board fx. Anyway to get around that w/o shelling out extra $ for 2 additional channels i wont use just to get the fx on the sx3
Take the Sr2, Sx3 doesnt allow u to have full control of the X fader curve. Theres a button to control the Curve instead of a knob. Look into this before you make your choice.
Keep in mind if you use it as a standalone mixer none of the effects work. Not even HI, MID or LOW. Just the crossfader, channel volume, channel trim and master volume will work.
I'm looking into getting the Mixars Primo. I was debating between that or this because of Pioneer's reputation, but I think the Primo offers more for the money. It has bigger jog wheels and longer pitch faders.
Agreed. Sold my SR2 for a Primo. The sound quality is superb on the Primo. The phono preamp alone shits all over the SR2. Mixars is partnered with RCF so they use quality parts. No Aux, LED Jogwheel playhead and small pitch sliders that is what the SR2 is missing. Primo is all around a better deck imo.

DJ barr the controller is awesome DJ this was the first one I was looking at before I got the pioneer ddj sx2 you should have tried the cdj with the sx2
The only advantages of FLX6 are 4 channels (controversial, because a few DJs really use more than two), bigger jogwheels with position indicators and club layout. On the other hand, it has neither external inputs (which makes 4 channels not very useful) nor pro outputs, while SR2 got both RCA phono/line inputs with DVS capability on each channel and also XLR master and TRS booth outputs. For me, obviously SR2, so I bought the one in 2019 and it never failed me since then.
The original DDJ-SR was my first professional grade controller. Got me through my frist couple wedding seasons. May have to look into the SR2 for at home and keep the sx3 in the case.

I looked at these for a bit, as a smaller option for events where my MC7000 and flight case is a bit much...just cant give up the sound quality and features of the Denon....especially the mic inputs. The short pitch faders was also a big reason I didn't bite on an SR2. I'm still looking into possible solutions that would be more conpact for certain situations, but haven't found one that gets me excited enough to order up a 2nd setup.
