Tori is just incredible. The fact that a record company hasn't already signed her up tells me that record companies are idiots. They produce so much garbage these days. And when there is finally someone like Tori, who can sing and has talent, is available and they don't snap her up, it's mind boggling. I'm convinced that nobody in the recording industry has any eye for talent and they are continually satisfied with producing junk. Tori will be a star if the public has any say in it. Tori, make a record, I will buy it. My friends will buy it.
I believe Tori has all the attributes of a potential star. She's very humble, which I view has a true professional. I hope that her talent is nurtured by people that have her best interest.

Trying to sound like someone else will not get you anywhere. Only one Karen Carpenter and she aint it. Question, who did Karen Carpenter try to sound like? Answer, herself. I suggest this wanna be do the same and sing in her own voice. My guess is she cannot and wants to be known for trying to be Karen.

Recently I heard, what I thought was Karen, a Carpenters song come up on my RUclips feed but I was away from the computer. I walked in and sat down thinking it was a Carpenters video, I was shocked when I say Tori. At first I thought she was lip syncing. I had to watch more, the more videos I saw I knew it was authentic. Beautiful young lady and an amazing voice.
Tori recently collaborated with Chris May where they produced, arranged and released a version of "Georgia On My Mind." Chris May co-authored the book "Carpenters: The Musical Legacy" with Mike Lennox along with help from Richard Carpenter. I wouldn't be surprised if Tori and Richard finally got to enter into each other's creative circles thanks to Chris' efforts... Godspeed, Tori. You're making "Kace" proud. To quote Barbra Streisand when she encountered Karen at a social gala: "You have a marvelous instrument."
Wow... I just got finished reading that book (in a day or so - as soon as it was delivered!), and I JUST discovered Tori YESTERDAY! It must be kismet. Or the conjunction of some good constellations or something. Shame that TODAY (4/25) is the concert in Downey... If I'd had a little more lead time I'd have flown out from Florida to attend.
I would love to hear Tori perform with a symphony doing Carpenters music! I recently went to a Tribute to Selena Symphony performance and it was an amazing experience.
I dearly love Karen Carpenter's voice. Listening to Tori Holub's voice and its similarity to Karen's, made me realize that Karen's voice was brought to life by Richard Carpenter. The popularity of THEIR (not her) music is due to Richard's genius for arranging songs... not just any songs, but songs that exemplified and showcased the special quality of Karen's voice and vocal range. Richard Carpenter made The Carpenters what they were. Like an astute investor, he parlayed his sister's voice into a recording genre that brought joy to millions of people around the world. He was a musical genius.
He is, but in the end, I feel like his pressure may have had a hand in her demise. Too much perfectionism. So yes he completed the Carpenters sound…and without her he was unable to create another popular sound after she passed. Be careful what you covet-
It's great to see someone honor Karen Carpenter by infusing new life into the Carpenters' songs. There will only ever be one Karen Carpenter, but Tori does have some of Karen's sound. I truly appreciate what she does. She has real talent, a lovely voice and likeable personality. Definitely one to watch...

Tori, sing always. Your voice is amazing. Covering Karen is a limited body of work. Had Karen lived we would have heard twice or three times more. Do not limit yourself to covering that which came before. SOAR!
I think I've reached the point where I'm awestruck by how much Karen, Ann, and Olivia sound so much like Tori. Tori has her own voice, and such amazing timbre and range. Tori is truly one in a million in her own right.

Well, I shed tears listening to Tori. It's probably not "fair" to compare her lovely voice to Karen but I have to. I know everything has been said, but it was a shock when Karen passed, and to hear Tori sing like her is amazing. Such a lovely young lady and I thank her for bringing this back.
Everything about Tori's cover of "...Just Begun" is so precise that I still get chills every time I hear it. When I know it's done recently, and it is exactly like the original - which was astonishing in its day - my brain tries to reject it. I get hyperactive, and have to force myself to sitstill. It's absurd, but I'm also an old soul. That's only because I'm almost 60.
Honest to God Tori, you give me goosebumps. So close to Karen's voice, if I close my eyes, I can't tell the difference which is the ultimate compliment. I hope you continue to get recognised globally and achieve the success you so richly deserve.

That for this interview. I know Tori may not want to do tribute shows but it gets her voice out to the public and recognized. Burt Bacharach wrote many of the Carpenter songs. I love all genres of music but the Carpenters brings back my childhood; a very wonderful time in my life when life was sooo less complex. The thought of seeing a musician play the Carpenters songs again would be a must see!

I can't get over than Tori wasn't even born when Karen passed away and she has such a love for her music and the other music from then. I hope doesn't take the golden ticket and lose what makes her and her music special - Something To Believe In could have been a Carpenters song.
Today's music, is so miserable. No frivolity. No purple people eaters. No yellow polka dot bikinis etc. All so serious. Full of messages that the singer / composer perhaps is ill equipped to promote. To hear Tori revive Karen, is a service to music and our enjoyment. I hope for more like her, that admire musicality.
Lee, great interview! I already was aware of Tori from the brief videos she'd posted up to this point, but the video she and Jim put together has really brought out her true talent. Great interview Lee! I just discovered you...see you have been around for a spell and have some nice videos. It shows how obscure youtube niches can be. Hopefully there are many others like me that notice you through great interviews like this one.
What a great interview. Tori is so humble in that she doesn't realize how close the tember of her voice is almost identical as Karen- which most of the world considers the greatest female voice. She nailed the inflection, but no other singer I've found has that tember. Now Tori needs to find new music which Karen AND Richard would have recorded and the world will have a new catalog of songs which will always be a classic.
Speaking of which. Tori just released a re-recording of Something In Your Eyes. She performed it at the 55th Anniversary but wasn’t happy with the resulting sound. So she made a “Studio” version. It’s on her channel. OMG.
This was a great interview. Tori is so genuine and down to earth and she sure as heck sounds like Karen. I have to believe that Richard is well aware of and impressed with Tori's voice. "Something To Believe In" sure sounds like a song the Carpenters would have sung,

Tori is a talent in her own right..........but that smooth clarity singing Carpenter's covers brings tears to my eyes.

Lee, great interview! I already was aware of Tori from the brief videos she'd posted up to this point, but the video she and Jim put together has really brought out her true talent. Your interview has shed more light on the person and her background and will, I'm sure, boost her exposure. Thanks for your great and capable work. Great interview Lee! I just discovered you...see you have been around for a spell and have some nice videos. It shows how obscure youtube niches can be. Hopefully there are many others like me that notice you through great interviews like this one.

What a great interview. Tori is so humble in that she doesn't realize how close the tember of her voice is almost identical as Karen- which most of the world considers the greatest female voice. She nailed the inflection, but no other singer I've found has that tember. Now Tori needs to find new music which Karen AND Richard would have recorded and the world will have a new catalog of songs which will always be a classic.
Speaking of which. Tori just released a re-recording of Something In Your Eyes. She performed it at the 55th Anniversary but wasn’t happy with the resulting sound. So she made a “Studio” version. It’s on her channel. OMG.
This was a great interview. Tori is so genuine and down to earth and she sure as heck sounds like Karen. I have to believe that Richard is well aware of and impressed with Tori's voice. "Something To Believe In" sure sounds like a song the Carpenters would have sung,

Thank you, Lee. I just stumbled upon your Stellar Interview and Video, of this Superbly Talented young lady. I couldn't believe my ears...hoping she is awarded a recording contract! She certainly deserves it. As a side note, 'We've only just Begun', was used by a major bank in their TV ads, back in the day. Again, thanks for your superb video and Interview. I wish Tori well, and will be on the lookout for her recordings. ⚘️🎶❤️
I've followed Tori for a good while, and she is overflowing with talent. Her speaking voice is amazing as well.
Yes, just listening to her speaking voice one can tell she has a wonderful speaking voice.
