Congratulations on getting up there (NM). I remember when I first saw your channel, I believe it was last year, when you said that you intended to become NM. You did it, in little time. Heartfelt congrats.
Soloman, good morning from chilly West Michigan. I discovered the "Hippo" a while back, and I am a fan! I play it a lot and usually win. When I don't, it's because of stupid blunders... The thing that I like the most is it forces me to slow down and develop. It lets me wait to see what the other guy is doing. Thanks for the info. Keep it up. RG
Hey Solomon, Big Fan of all of your content ESPECIALLY the hippo. I’ve been using it almost exclusively at my club and have found people only have success when throwing knights and pawns down the board sacking pieces. Any advice on this?
Excellent video. Especially enjoyed the Queen sac variations which if didn’t see here might otherwise avoid for failure to realize the winning counteracting mate possibilities. Well done; bravo.
Another good tactic is to build the hippo opening and move your queen back and forth until they come to you and just hold the wall and hang on with all your might.
1st thank you for all this free adcation videos 2nd i ask you many times what we should do against pawn attk advance version please if you can answer me 😅
Great video! I don't want to bug you about checking out the games I emailed, but they're both along this line as well, Queenside castle and attack. They even have the same idea happen with Ra1.
Many thanks for another instructive Hippo video, Solomon! 🦛💪🏿 As players get used to playing the Hippo, they will realize that it's actually a very aggressive opening *especially* if your opponent castles on the opposite side, or castles too early. And this video does a great job showcasing why it's even more dangerous to castle queen-side against an angry, angry Hippo.
Next title Hippo Attack Defensive Strategy xD

Can you do a Hippo vid on when or whether or not to castle? I have difficulty trying to decide sometimes.
This might be the best Black Hippo video of them all👍
Good stuff as usual Solomon. This video gave me more clarity about the proper plans vs queenside castling and it’s most appreciated!
loved this one chess giant!

Hi Solomon! Can you make a video on how to deal with Austrian attack?
