One of the albums of the decade for me, no question. TFF are one of the best bands ever and HUGELY underrated

As a fan since the beginning, I really like this new album and it's grown on me with subsequent listens. I think it could have benefited from the technique of warming each track into the next with some short instrumentals that incorporated elements of both. Certainly that's not a new idea but it would have given it a more cohesive flow. However, as is, overall it is a magnificent majestic return after 18 years.

The more I listen to this album the more I love the songs. 8.5 for me. The CD from Target has two extra songs. They are coming in concert to Tampa and I hope I get to go.

Great review, I really enjoyed it. TFF are my favourite band, I'm 63 years old now and I've loved them since I first heard Mad World in 82. I agree End Of Night should have been the final track on the album. Every other track on the album is dealing with something. We have climate change, BLM, The Me Too movement, death, in the wrong hands this album could be so depressing. End Of Night offers hope, it's like there is light at the end of the tunnel, End Of Night = End of the dark times, end of suffering, that's my take on it. Bruce Springsteen released an album called Tunnel Of Love, and if I remember right it started with an accoustic track, I think he was going through a divorce at the time, all the songs seemed to be about dispair, except the final track Valentine's Day, which offered the listener hope. The Tipping Point reminds me of Tunnel Of Love, and more so if End Of Night had been the album closer. I'm biased but I would give this album 9/10 Tears For Fears have only bettered this album once, and that was their masterpiece The Seeds Of Love. I'm not a fan of calling the album after a track on the album, there is a line in my favourite song on this album called Long Long Long Time which should have been the album title, and the line is - Save Me The Last Word. If it is to be their swansong, Last Word would have been a good title to end on.

I can only listen to this album in certain situations. If I’m in a great mood this will be the last album I reach for. LOL great comment by the way with a lot of really cool information. Thanks for the comment

I'm a huge TFF fan and have been since The Hurting. I loved the song The Tipping Point instantly when it came out. Most of the other songs take several listens but then they grow on you. The more I listen to the album the more I love it! It's quite a diverse album, and I don't get bored listening to it or feel like skipping a song. I agree though, End of Night sounds like a good ending to the album. I think it means despite all the personal troubles & everything going on in the world, there's always hope things will get better. End of night is like end of darkness, so there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Agreed. So why do you think Stay ended the album?

@@RedMugMusic The album starts with No Small Thing, which begins with an acoustic guitar and Stay, also begins with an acoustic guitar, so it ends the same way it starts, like book ends.

The tipping point is their fifth album together as tears for fears I don't think I will count my opinion the other albums only with all that ensemble as tears for fears.i give this album 8 out of 10

i like the new album - 'Master Plan' is by far my favorite track. that said, for me, there's too many tracks sung by Curt Smith here. sorry, not a huge fan of his voice - it's very thin and wispy compared to Roland's. Curt's voice certainly has its place (Stay is quite nice) but overall i would rather listen to Roland. i think 7.5 is a fair rating.

Good review, TFF Is highly overrated. Try to listen to the 2 bonus tracks that came with the deluxe version of it I believe Tarje’ has it or had it. They are: let it all evolve and secret location, both tracks probably better than some of the ones on the regular album. Just my opinion.
