The BL22 is a little tricky to clean. First, you need the proper size screwdrivers, and second, the ejector is a pain in the butt to replace when reassembling the gun. You have to hold the ejector and its spring in place while putting the bolt back in. Easier said then done. With that said, the quality and workmanship are excellent, which to me, more than makes up for the difficulty in reassembly. It's still an excellent gun. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching my video.

These are an awesome lever action. Very very reliable & very very accurate. My dad bought me one 28 years ago & out of all the rifles I've owned & shot, the Miroku ML22 (Same rifle) is my favourite. My dad bought it off a work mate with a broken ejector spring, so he fixed that & I never ever had a problem with it.

I just got my BL-22 today and I'm thrilled with it. I've shot them on several occasions before and will honestly say they are one of the nicest .22's on the market. Easily accurate enough for empty 12-gage shells at 40 yards. I own several Brownings already, including a BLR in .308 Win and this gun is as well-made as any of them.

Well, my NIB 1970 production deluxe grade BL-22 just arrived. All I can say is a big "Thanks for the recommendation!", and the great video. The BL-22 is incredibly light, and the action is crisp, quick, and smooth. It's also very quick pointing. What a class act! It is also far lighter than my Winchester 9422 and 9422M. Thanks again!

that's some great shooting sir. I do have to agree with you on the quality of this rifle. I ended up with a '73-'74 BL-22 that my father in law found in a basement. It had been laying on it's side with the ejection port up so you can imagine the finish....well he thought it would be a good project for me. The action functioned but....rust. Well long story short and lots of solvent and Ballistol later it isn't pretty but wow what a great piece. Thanks for showing what it can do.

My gun used in this video is a grade 1, which basically is just a plain model. Grade 2 has engraving on the receiver, a gold-plated trigger, checkered buttstock and forearm. I bought my gun over 20 years ago and it was used but in excellent condition. Seems like I paid $135 for it at the time. If you find a used one and it looks to be in great shape, and not abused, I would certainly recommend it if the price is right. Not sure what they sell for now but the Browning BL-22 is an excellent gun.

My dad gave me mine in 1972. Used to be a good shot with it. My son likes the original sights but my eyes can't use them very well any more. Really hesitated to scope it, but gave in as it's the only way I can enjoy it now. The smallest scope, Fixed 4x 28 Leupold (Good value at $200) plus the see through Leupold rifleman sights ($19) let me shoot and my son can still use iron sights for close up shots. The stock is small so see thru sights still let me have a good check weld.

I would also suggest starting with a .22 rifle. Out of all my guns my favorite ones are all .22 rifles or pistols. They are fun and accurate and ammo is cheap. The fundamentals of shooting and becoming a good marksman is easier due to the low recoil and the fact that you can shoot a lot of ammo. You might consider a Henry lever action, or if you prefer a bolt aciton, take a look at the Savage line of rifles. Thank you for the great comment and for watching my video. Be safe and enjoy your gun.

I just had been thinking about getting a Henry Youth 22LR Lever action to teach my grandson how to shoot, but since I already have a Henry 22LR lever action full size rifle I wanted to see what the other brands offer. Now the Henry Youth goes for only $319 at the local Sportsman's Warehouse, but after I saw this video and a couple of others here on RUclips, I decided to get this little Browning BL 22 Micro Midas (which is their kids or youth model). Good video, looks like a good spot to shoot too. I looked at several 22 lever guns a few years ago ad this was one of them. I really thought about the browning, a used winchester 9422, a Marlin 39a and the henry goldenboy. I bought the goldenboy, and it's a good gun, but the best price/quality combo might have been the browning. Also, the short throw and lightness would have been better since the henry is very heavy. Still all of them are very good choices, even though the henry does not have a steel receiver.

Years ago I had a Winchester 94-22 magnum and it was a good gun, but the Browning really has a much smoother action. I just wish that all guns with the Browning name were made in the USA. You can't go wrong with a Winchester or Browning. Thanks for a great comment.

  • @mixup98
    @mixup98  11 лет назад

turtleinahat..let's start with the bolt action rifle. These rifles are usually more accurate than a lever action and it is usually easier to mount a scope to a bolt action rifle than a lever gun. Magazine capacity will usually be around 4 to 6 rounds. With a lever action rifle, depending on model, they hold more ammo, are quicker to shoot, and just plain fun, fun, fun. For target shooting or hunting go with the bolt. For fast, fun shooting go with the lever action.

oncall21....your scope should be perfect on your rifle. I have a Nikon 2x7 on a Ruger 10-22 and a 2x7 scope is absolutely perfect for the caliber. I have a feeling your gun will group very well. I've never shot mine from the bench so I'll be curious about your groups.

I bought the scope, not that the rifle needs one (especially after watching you shoot), but because it is a nice light, compact and clear scope that won't upset the balance of the rifle. For bunnies on the run or up close the 2x is plenty. For target practise and comparing different .22 ammo at the range, I can wind her up to 7x. I'll keep you posted once the scope arrives and I can get some groups to compare. :-)

Miroku is the manufacturer in Japan and they make damn nice firearms, just like have been doing for the past 50 years. I have a late model Winchester 1892, and it's the finest lever gun currently on the market for the money. The older Browning B92's they made are even better due to the higher grade wood they used back then. Browning always had a higher standard for aesthetics.

They are fantastic and probably the best quality lever action .22 still made today, Steve receivers and walnut, no zinc or pot metal, cost reflects that.
The speed and smooth action make them a great little fun for pest control, follow up shots at the flick of your pinky finger.
Only real downside is I found the sights on mine terrible to focus on, had a peep sight fitted and it worked much better for my eyes.

I have a Henry lever action .22 and a Savage mark 2, they are great! Out of everyone that I've let shoot those, the Henry is more enjoyable to them. The savage is the more accurate of either. Both can shoot .22 shorts, longs, and long rifles. Another difference are the feeding systems, the Henry is tube fed while the Savage is magazine fed. So in the off chance that one needs to be reloaded the Savage is quicker if spare mags are ready.

BL-22 likes: Short throw on the lever, you don't have to move your trigger finger, because the whole trigger group is integrated with the lever, unlike traditional lever action where the trigger remains mounted in the frame. Quick take up shots and accuracy downrange is the result! The hammer does have the half cock position option, as traditional. Trigger pull runs about 4 lbs, with small amount of take-up, you can feel where the sear is engaged and resists lightly and lets off crisply. Smooth bolt travel and the brass ejects out the side, unlike the original browning design. The rifle will shoot everything from .22 short CB subsonic to high vel stingers HP's with NO issue. Thing is super easy to take down for cleaning, but tricky to reassemble, like a Ruger MK-II pistol tricky, but not impossible. Most of the time it's just easier to hit the action and barrel with some Break Free "Powder Blast" run a bore snake for scrubbing and cleaning, then finish off with BF-CLP, wipe down and you are done.
The downs:The sights are "OK" decent, the tip off scope mount is screaming for a rail sight system, or at least a nice tangent peep-sight system from Brownell's. Thought the finish on wood and bluing is great, wood dents easily and bluing scr's just as easy.
BEST danged lever action on the market, even though I LOVE a good Henry's and their butter smooth lever action, better balanced weight, I still reach for the browning most of the time. In NO WAY knocking the excellent Henry, still a one of the best bangs for the buck out there!

In fact, I don't believe I've ever seen any lever-action rifle with a plastic stock. Maybe some of my viewers can help.

I just bought a Browning BL-22 and is it very nice. The price must have came down a bit. Cabelas price December 2017 is $550. Browning has a $75 rebate until 12/31/2017. That makes my cost $475. For a very nice Browning. The Walnut Stock is super glossy. I'm not sure how that is accomplished as Walnut is a open grain wood. Excellent !

Barry.....I've never mounted a scope and this gun or fired it from a bench so I can't honestly tell you if it is or isn't a serious target gun. The gun is certainly accurate out to 50 yards with iron sights and I seem to hit what I'm aiming at but for serious target shooting I would suggest a good bolt action rifle.

I have one & have shot thousands of rounds. Mine is the walnut stock thats checkered grip style. I had it from when I was a kid and now mys son shoots it too. I just wanted to say I have never field stripped it for full cleaning. I clean all my guns after use with a full field strip but not this or my Henry big boy in 357mag. I only run a good cleaning down the bore and wipe out the action with tooth brush , q-tips ect with a CLP. I find the dirt goes forward unlike a blow back system. FYI: both Henry & Browning never recommend taking their lever action down all the way they say its not necassary and I agree. Owe yeah I bought 1500 rounds of the aguila super colibri 22lr 20 grain bullet primer charged only, so the story here is this gun works that bullet like a champ because it will not cycle in a semi auto and it is silent ! All you hear is the hammer coming down on the firing pin ,click............. really cool stuff !

Scott....I agree, the BL22 shouldn't be completely field stripped unless absolutely necessary. Years ago I had to replace the firing pin in my Browning and I had no choice but to disassemble the rifle. Hopefully my video will help somebody who would rather fix their own gun instead of taking it to a gunsmith.

Love the sound of the ricochets. Is that a road in the background or am I seeing things?
I got my BL-22 in 1974 and it still shoots well. Love that little Browning.

Very proficient with that rifle! Fun gun indeed. I suggest you try out a Ruger 77/44 - an other fun gun on a whole new level.

Fellow Aussie and Miroku ML22 owner (same rifle different stamp) I bought one of these at a gun show for $300, dinged up pretty bad, rebuilt it ironed out the dents and sanded it back looks awesome now, woods easy to fix and a few dent's will just give it more character. Just be careful pulling these right down though, they're a bitch to put back together. If weight is what you're worried about, these things weigh like a toy gun, synthetic would feel too light I think.

Since the subject is Browning. If it's possible can you do a video with a Browning AH5 Sweet 16 Belgium? My dad gave this gun to me for my 18th birthday and just want to hear what you have to say about this weapon. Thanx

To me this rifle has the runs on the board over the Henry and second hand Erma's and Winchester 94/22's. You pay a bit more but it has the features and accuracy to justify the cost.

Nice job! Especially letting us all know where the rifle was manufactured...Japan. I like to know I'm not buying a firearm from Russia or China that has a legendary name brand. I believe some Remington or Winchester are actually now made in Russia.
