He is correct, he just didn't mention that carbs turns into sugar. Some diabetics with low glucose readings during the night consume sugary carbs before bed to keep from having a low reading during the nite or possibly not awakening due to being in a diabetic coma. Personally I'm consume only 20 g of carbs a day, and have removed Bread, Potatoes and Rice from diet 10 yrs ago. I also do high impact fitness 6 days a week as well. Fat joe did forget being physically active which is just as import

Omar Little Fat Camps are unrealistic they have u on a regimen and losing weight then u go back in the real world and u got temptations everywhere around you
I have lost over 180 Pounds since Februari 2012 with the same method as Joe. Stayed about 20 grams Carbs a day for 7 months. And i talked/biked 3-4 times a week for about 1 hour. Trust me you can lose the weight, I agree with Joe. Carbs in the MORNING! I cheated many times with Pizza/Chips and so but did not gain weight, Why? Because if i cheated i only ate one pizza a day and nothing more (Calories..).
The part about the bread surprised me. I wrestle and I eat a lot of wheat bread for some protein and grains. I had no idea the body turns it into sugar. I'm going to have to stop eating it now.
8 лет назад
Bread won't affect you in moderation. Carbs only turn into sugar if you don't burn them off. If you wrestle, you def burn them off
@TheMetallicatz The way Joe is approaching this is via a Low Carb/Ketogenic diet (like Atkins) and the way it works is completely different to counting calories to have a caloric deficit. Either approach works but a diet like joes is harder to stick to, eventually though when he's at his goal weight he slowly get back on a normal diet if he wants to or he can keep going - I just hope he doesn't put it back on.
@TheMetallicatz Thats incorrect, Atkins even marketed his program as a high calorie diet and it is. IMO it's not a healthy diet (probably healthier than being obese though) but that's the truth.
@DUCWIDT when you say 'completely different to counting calories to have a caloric deficit' are you insinuating that the physiological effects are different? Aside from your body adapting to use ketones instead of glucose then I would disagree. If you mean it is a simpler way of staying in a caloric deficit while not having to worry about counting every calorie then I suppose that could be seen as true, though that matter is fairly subjective
My brother & i met him about a month ago in famous Katz Deli in NYC... he really has lost weight..he was nice took a picture w/ my brother & they talked a couple of minutes...Nice dude!
@DUCWIDT Yes sugar will be converted to (a combination of) adipose tissue & muscle within a caloric surplus, however the first law of thermodynamics still applies and always will apply regarding energy intake in relation to weight management. With that being said if you were only eating lean protein sources & vegetables (for example) then this would allow a much larger volume of food to be consumed without an increase in weight, but only due to the caloric content being low (relatively speaking)
Just start looking at the labels on a lot of the food you already eat. If you take what he already said for example about rice(he really meant white rice, brown rice is good for you in moderation, same with certain beans), bread(everything but wheat basically), and pasta, you'll be on a good path. Also, a lot of seafood is lean, meaning that it doesn't have many carbs and has a lot of protein, but you should look up low fat recipes for that stuff so you don't just douse it with butter and whatnot. Also, pork and chicken are very lean meats, but not beef(aside from some steaks). If you're going to cheat with sweets or any of the stuff I mentioned, do it in the beginning or very early in the day. If you follow the advice I just gave you, you're guaranteed to lose a lot of weight. Good luck to you
By what ever way he lost the weight I say well done. I'm about 350 at 6'2. I'm a powerlifter and they say in the game eat, sleep, eat some more and sleep some more. Until a year ago I got the diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, high blood pressure and the whole list. I was on metformin for six months then I went on Insulin. It usually takes 7 years before you go on Insulin. I go to the gym five days a week but my eating is out of control. I'm going to do the gastric bypass.
@TheMetallicatz Joe talks about how carbs are easily converted to sugar - I'm saying Sugar is easily converted to body fat whereas foods like meats and animal fat is much more difficult to be converted, the truth is on a diet like Atkins you can eat a hell of a lot more food than you can when you are consuming even a balanced amount of carbs,
it works, started this for my self 2 weeks ago, done away with all the bread rice and pasta and eat fruit salads eggs cheese and meat, already losin weight

And most importantly: get some excercise routine in your life. Not only will it help u lose weight, but it will also help you get more healty. Also, change up your training routine: one day you run, the other you go swimming and next time maybe a competitive game of tennis, squash or even ping pong. Keep it intense and keep your heartbeat at a good rate for at least 20 minutes and rest when necessairy, but see to it that u reach an hour of intense movement at the end.
