Some diabetics with low glucose readings during the night consume sugary carbs before bed to keep from having a low reading during the nite or possibly not awakening due to being in a diabetic coma. Personally I'm consume only 20 g of carbs a day, and have removed Bread, Potatoes and Rice from diet 10 yrs ago. I also do high impact fitness 6 days a week as well. Trust me you can lose the weight, I agree with Joe. Carbs in the MORNING! I cheated many times with Pizza/Chips and so but did not gain weight, Why? Because if i cheated i only ate one pizza a day and nothing more (Calories..).

    @TheMetallicatz The way Joe is approaching this is via a Low Carb/Ketogenic diet (like Atkins) and the way it works is completely different to counting calories to have a caloric deficit.
    Either approach works but a diet like joes is harder to stick to, eventually though when he's at his goal weight he slowly get back on a normal diet if he wants to or he can keep going - I just hope he doesn't put it back on.

  • @DUCWIDT
    @DUCWIDT 13 лет назад +1

    @TheMetallicatz Thats incorrect, Atkins even marketed his program as a high calorie diet and it is.
    IMO it's not a healthy diet (probably healthier than being obese though) but that's the truth.

    @DUCWIDT when you say 'completely different to counting calories to have a caloric deficit' are you insinuating that the physiological effects are different? Aside from your body adapting to use ketones instead of glucose then I would disagree. If you mean it is a simpler way of staying in a caloric deficit while not having to worry about counting every calorie then I suppose that could be seen as true, though that matter is fairly subjective

    @DUCWIDT Yes sugar will be converted to (a combination of) adipose tissue & muscle within a caloric surplus, however the first law of thermodynamics still applies and always will apply regarding energy intake in relation to weight management. With that being said if you were only eating lean protein sources & vegetables (for example) then this would allow a much larger volume of food to be consumed without an increase in weight, but only due to the caloric content being low (relatively speaking)

      Just start looking at the labels on a lot of the food you already eat. If you take what he already said for example about rice(he really meant white rice, brown rice is good for you in moderation, same with certain beans), bread(everything but wheat basically), and pasta, you'll be on a good path. Also, a lot of seafood is lean, meaning that it doesn't have many carbs and has a lot of protein, but you should look up low fat recipes for that stuff so you don't just douse it with butter and whatnot. Also, pork and chicken are very lean meats, but not beef(aside from some steaks). If you're going to cheat with sweets or any of the stuff I mentioned, do it in the beginning or very early in the day. If you follow the advice I just gave you, you're guaranteed to lose a lot of weight. Good luck to you

    And most importantly: get some excercise routine in your life. Not only will it help u lose weight, but it will also help you get more healty. Also, change up your training routine: one day you run, the other you go swimming and next time maybe a competitive game of tennis, squash or even ping pong. Activate and give impulses to all the muscles allover your body to get your metabolisme going at a healthier rate and build some muscle where the fat is reducing. Keep it intense and keep your heartbeat at a good rate for at least 20 minutes and rest when necessairy, but see to it that u reach an hour of intense movement at the end. This at least 3 times a week. Breakfast is the most important meal, it will provide you with the energy needed to get results. And when u have access to it I would recommend a sauna after an hour of intense training.

      Fruits are pure sugar. The only good thing they have in them is fiber and vitamins. Avoid fruits and take a multivitamin instead and get your fiber from vegetables. Vegetables, chicken, and fish are the healthiest foods. Whole grains are good too, just don’t eat carbs in excess.

    • @sacredsecrecy9620
      @sacredsecrecy9620 2 года назад +1

      @@VforVendetta07
      Yeah right, just supplement with artificial usually also ridiculously overdosed multivitamins, because it's SO much better than the natural food! You're talking nonsense. Fruits are not "pure sugar", that's what they turn into when you concentrate them into smoothies, juices or dry fruits. But when they're fresh they provide you with all kinds of necessary nutrients you can't overdose on. Just need to keep the amounts in check of course because of sugar. However, because of the fiber the normal amount of sugar you've taken in with those fruits, absorbs slowlier into your system, so it's not a big deal. Our bodies naturally can handle certain amounts of sugars, fats and proteins, because they literally need all of that to function. But when you go overboard and consume more than what your body requires, that's when it's getting problematic. This goes not only for fruits though, but for any food source. You can also consume too much saturated fats with dairy and meat, which clog your arteries. And that's why a balanced diet is important. Veggies and fruits have no saturated fats, which is why they're needed to balance that out. As long as you eat everything in moderation your body is able to regulate itself and use everything for its health's benefit. That's how it works. Stigmatising one isolated nutrient and cutting it out completely, which leads to a restrictive diet, is ignorant and no solution, but rather creates new problems. For example, through overcompensating with supplements, like you're doing. That is definitely not the better alternative, trust me.

    @BlackiDaIraqi1, You hit the nail on the head!!! I'm 6' tall 170 lbs. I have a slender build and I workout about 3 times a week!! I find that my body craves carbs for fuel. Brown rice and whole wheat pasta is the best!! Along with nuts and seeds.

    Fat Joe is lamenting beans, but from what I've read beans are very good for you, including for diabetics. You can't overeat anything of course... Most foods have carbs which turn in to glucose, but beans aren't as carb-rich as rice or potatoes.

      You have to do your research, beans are high in carbs with only a few grams of fiber. Pretty much if a vegetable is mushy it’s usually loaded with sugar.
