“Aff” actual name is Six and the character y’all playing name is Mono. 😂 it’s a whole ass story between those two fr. And the reason why Six dropped Mono is due to him not saving her when the “thin man” (the tall ass man) took her when Mono was hiding under the bed. Six or “Aff”, had another friend she couldn’t save in the game ‘Very Little Nightmares’, she won’t stay with someone who can’t help her or if she can’t help them. Alsooo, the “thin man” and Mono are the same person. The thin man(future Mono) is hunting six for abandoning him and the cycle repeats. He meets six, they both go through trails together and six ends up dropping him. Mono need to let her go fr but he just didn’t want to be lonely anymore and he was still pretty pissed for what six did to him and started hunting for six, that’s how the cycle repeats with those two.
Fyi this is all theory stuff. Me personally I don't think it's a time loop since we see the Thin Man operate outside of the loop which we see in the comics. It's more likely that Mono just simply took the Thin Man's place, same as it's implied Six took the Lady's place. It's like a cycle of abuse that is thematically tackled through the lens of children, growing up in a harsh world filled with adults who seem threatening to them, only for the kids to grow up exactly the same as the monsters they're trying to survive against. They develop powers after surviving long enough in the Nowhere, this being symbolic of a child growing up to learn how to better adapt to an adult's world, turning that into something that can signify change, or something that continues the cycle like we see here. It's also implied too that Six might also dislike Mono due to the music box being destroyed, as before Mono tried to destroy it, Six was friendly towards Mono. They even trusted him enough to share the music box with him. It was when Mono finally destroyed it that Six decided to betray him then and there. The music box was Six's only means of escapism, with escapism acting as the main theme of the second game. The viewers get violent when the TVs get turned off, with the Signal Tower using the desires others have to escape the cruel world in order to try and feed off of them. It drains away their life using media as an outlet, something easily digestible. Thematically speaking that's similar to how some people operate in real life, the ones trying to hide away in their homes under constant fear of the outside world. If they're only sitting in front of a screen all day wasting time that could be spent making memories and going to see the good the world has to offer, then they're really just wasting the already short lifespan they have as a human. They'd rather remain hermits and trade said time in order to stay confined in their own little bubble where they control what the consume. Anyways, sorry for the yapping. I tend to do that for things I like a lot. Again, this is just my personal theory and I don't want to act like anyone else's theory is wrong. I just took away something different and that's okay. These games are made to be seen through more than one perspective.
I see it as a time loop. When The Thin Man captures Mono (the character you are playing as and him in the past) we never actually see him kill you like some of the other enemies in the game, the entire time hes trying to prevent the inevitable betrayal of Six (the girl you called aff). Him capturing Six can be seen as some form of revenge but I see it as him trying anything in his power to stop her from dropping you at the end of the game. He is destined to fail at saving his younger self from becoming him. Now why the betrayal happens. When captured Six is clearly mistreated/tortured by The Thin Man, seen by her fucked up mangled state. This would lead for a large hatred and as seen earlier in the game she clearly shows signs of trust issues. When Mono defeats The Thin Man it is the first time in the entire game he isnt wearing the bag on his head or a hat of some sort. The only time Six ever gets a full proper look at his face is after she catches him, like you said she wouldnt catch him if her intention was just to drop him. While Six is holding Mono she takes a long look at his face (recognizing him to be the person who just tortured her) and hesitates before dropping him, thinking she is preventing her friend from becoming The Thin Man when all shes doing is causing it. The signal tower then turns him into the thin man and sticks him in a time loop where we will forever be failed to save himself. There is also a theory that The Lady at the end of the first game is a grown up version of Six when it comes to overall lore i always saw both games as a metaphor for the transition from childhood into the harshness of adulthood if you're looking for another game similar to this id recommend Inside by Playdead

If you get all the glitched shadow kids, I think that's how you get the post credits and you can watch it on RUclips somewhere but it shows Six (Aff) coming out that last TV with the hunger from the first game and Shadow Six appearing and pointing at a poster for the Maw, the ship from the first game. Apparently that hunger is because of the void Shadow Six left in Six's body or something like that and in the original, whenever Six ate something and the screen flashed, Shadow Six would appear in some frames.

Those random flashing lights are called artifacts. It typically means there’s a problem with your Graphics Card(GPU) sometimes you get it if there is an unstable overclock. I’m not sure whether you’re on PC or Xbox though. It is possible for it to happen on a Xbox but it’s a lot more rare. Try to make sure whatever you’re using is getting proper cooling and if it’s a pc it doesn’t have a high overclock besides check if you still have a warranty you might need to replace it.

what i think happened at the end: Theyre in an infinite time loop, the thin man (Michael Jackson guy) is actually trying to warn mono (the character you play as) to not follow six (aff). mono obviously doesnt listen and continues to follow six. mono always gets the thin mans powers because thats him. Mono was the thin man the entire time, trying to warn the other mono to not follow six so he can finally end this time loop, but its futile.
