  • In this video I tie the 'Jerk' Version of the Polarizer. The Polarizer is a fly that I designed over the last couple years. I developed two different versions of this fly; the 'Jerk' version in this video and also a 'Bulkhead' version. I have had amazing success with both versions; everything from fishing deep points at Smith Mountain Lake to fishing for Snakehead in only a few inches of water in Lilly Pads. I love how versatile this fly is and its intricate action that really entices predator fish.

      The fight is awesome, but the best part is when the fish absolutely smashes the fly!

    Great looking fly, I think I'll give this one a try. Thanks for sharing. Looks like it would be a great large mouth bass fly.

    Fantastic fly! You should try tying in a wave tail vs the deciever style tail for even more kick!

      @hotspotnymphing  2 года назад

      Yep, that would be a great idea! The wave tails also all have the same consistency unlike the natural feathers.

    The polar fiber and dubbing head soak up a lot of water and add bulk/weight. How would this work with bucktail hollow fleye ties on the hook section, to make the fly lighter to cast?

    Good job. How are you getting such a fast retrieve?

    • @hotspotnymphing
      @hotspotnymphing  3 года назад

      Thanks! The fastest retrieve would be a two-hand retrieve, where you stick the rod under your arm and retrieve with both hands. Most of the time I use a jerk strip for the jerk style flies because I find it easier to "walk" them side to side with the rod tip. You can go pretty fast with the jerk strip retrieve because when your sweeping the rod tip your hand can retrieve the slack at the same time.

    How’s it fish on a floating line

    • @hotspotnymphing
      @hotspotnymphing  2 года назад

      This one isn't the greatest for a floating line because it has such little weight it will pretty much float. If all you have is a floating line, you can put a split shot about one foot in front to keep this fly underneath the surface.
