    My favourite little aircraft . I would put the 141 hp turbo rotax in the front. Lite engine. Apparently a 160+hp version is on the drawing board from Rotax.

    This is "Aeropract", it was created in Russia in 1991 somewhere by a student at the Aerospace University in the city of Samara, where Soyuz launch vehicles are being built. It was his diploma. Evo was immediately invited to Antonov Design Bureau and he left for Ukraine. It seems that they did business with some Arab from the Emirates. And he still moved this project of his own after 25 years. I was sitting in the cockpit of this plane at the airfield of the parachute school in the city of Tolyatti somewhere in 1991. (Sancheleevo) This is 100 km from Samara.

      @@augustopinochet7198 that’s cool. I think in your link that the version was a modified version of a Quickie Q1 single seat. The Q-2 was a 2 seater and ours was based off the Q-200 with an LS airfoil, less of an anhedral canard angel, Revmaster 2100 series 65hp engine, and had a mid canard gear setup. Fun plane cruising 130knots at less than 4 gallons an hour.

    Why the narrow gear instead of the canard-tip position?

    • @brettgerber795
      @brettgerber795  2 года назад

      Not sure why it was designed that way, but when we sold it, there were full blueprints of it. It actually handled way better on the ground than our other standard Q-2. Flew great but downsized our canard fleet when we finished building our Velocity.

      David H., depends a lot on the engine and avionics installed. Mid to upper teens is common but I’ve seen some with over $14k just in avionics.

      The new owner I know put quite a few upgrades in it. It was flying but we recommend a new gear leg setup along with tires and breaks (the original Q’s were more of a go-kart style and at the speeds I felt needed to be better since I was landing our Long Ez and Velocity at similar speeds with a lot better breaking authority). They also did new cylinders and heads, radio, transponder and probably an intercom. We put over 130 hours on it but after finishing the Velocity, sold both Q2’s and the Long Ez.

      It is a MK-II gear setup. Different canard airfoil (if I recall correct it was the LS) and anhedral. When it sold the plans for the setup went with it but I believe just a few had it and might have been also the same setup some Dragonfly’s uses???
      It actually handled on the ground way better than our other standard Q-2 that had the conventional wheels at the canard. We did not care for the composite gear legs on this and felt it weak & would not hold up in an off field landing. The guy who bought it changed them out. We ended up selling both our Q-2s and my Long Ez after we finished our Velocity.

      Cheers Bret ,
      Its like a baby brother 2 the Velocity which is my favourite larger sports aircraft. Which engine is in ur Qickee & also ur Velocity.
      Burt Rutan was way out there in his think'in on Canard design A Real Clever Dick. Whats ur thoughts on a 141hp turbo Rotax on the Front of the Quickee thx.
      The Velocity has quite a few options with engines. Have seen them with a LS V8 & recently l saw one with a turbo prop .
      Thx 4 sharing on ur Quckee .
