  • In my previous video, "Macro Focus Rail to Automate Shooting Stacked Photos", I used a timing belt and stepper motor to move the camera for automated shooting of focus stacks. In this video, I modified that project to use a lead screw attached to the stepper motor to drive the camera platform. The cost of the lead screw kit was less than $10 and included the lead screw, pillow block bearings, coupler and lead screw nut. Only a few additional printed parts are necessary and are available from Thingiverse in the MontanaMonk projects: www.thingivers... All files for parts printing and for arduino programming are available for download on Thingiverse as well as additional discussion.
Flower stack shot with Nikon Coolpix P610 with Raynox DCR-250 Super Macro Snap-On Lens. Focus stack produced with ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2023. Video edited with Davinci Resolve 18.6. Additional photos shot with Sony RX10iv. Parts printed with Creality Ender 5. Parts designed and exported to STL with FreeCAD 0.20.1. STL files sliced with Cura 4.11.0.

Hi there, I am creating my own version of a macro rail, converting a Nisi 180 into a motorized rail, and i found your video really inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
