    This is beautiful. I'm glad the fisherman recognized that they exploited this lake through fishing. Now is time to allow the fish to make come back. Sometimes, we never know what we have until we loose it. Thank you SLICE for showing us this part of the Mexican culture.

    Es muy cierto el lago ya está muy contaminado 😪🤷🏽‍♀️ recuerdo cuando crecí el lago está muy bonito ahora ya se secó mucho recuerdo como si fuera un sueño se pescaba mucho la sardina y el pescado blanco le llamábamos huerepo todo eso se acabó por el drenaje de Patzcuaro 😡 crecí en un lago donde nadamos todos ahora ya no se puede hemos acabado con el lago 😪 y dice mi madre que las carpas acabaron con las sardinas y el lirio también es malo para el lago y el Gobierno no hace nada lo digo pk a nosotros tenemos acceso al lago .

    Apparently the “whitefish” of lake Pátzcuaro are a species of freshwater silversides. Which is interesting since they aren’t considered table fare in the states.

      In reality it is the extremely large avocado orchards which are destroying the lake and the water drain as well.

      Not sure if you are just being facetious... Every country has its poor and downtrodden, unfortunately. Mexico is no exception. Beautiful country, rich in resources, commerce and culture. There's still a huge disparity in wealth.
