It's not. Wizards has messed up all their formats. Historic isn't as fun as it looks in his videos, explorer is annoying as heck because things like greasefang.
I mean be prepared for a lot of combo decks or turbo aggro that wins on turn 4. You’re going to lose a lot to people who only sweat for wins and can’t just chill-lax and play casual magic in the non ranked queue.
I use cards like this in commander in my land destruction decks because a lot of the land destruction also hits artifacts so makes it into flexible removal.

When there are two creatures killing you, have you considered killing said creatures, and the enchantment that brings them back, rather than lands, while you are being killed?
Ah yes because he can totally destroy 2 creatures AND an enchantment with a single liquid metal coating 🤦♂️🤦🤦♂️ if he targets the 1 drop then the opponent has advantage with more land and a cheap deck, if he targets the enchantment or the 2 drop then the 1 drop destroys his liquid metal coating and his deck fizzles. He made the right play
I love how people think its rude to destroy lands in magic but most think its totalyl normally to just play the most oppressive decks in a meta and thats not rude to other who would love be creative.

I figured because the new sets love artifacts so much that artifact removal would be somewhat stronger... but not to this extent.....
Liquidmetal coating + Splinter on lands was always my favorite way to beat mono-color decks.
I use cards like this in commander in my land destruction decks because a lot of the land destruction also hits artifacts so makes it into flexible removal.
I used to run a modern deck like this pre-MH2, it was so much fun

Hey Chris, I built a similar style of deck but with just mono green. Flaxen intruder was definitely the most lackluster for me too
These kind of decks are so fun (When not played against me...) but the problem with indestructible lands/artifacts can be solved with Haywire mite!
Against the opponent with indestructible artifact lands, karn is EVEN BETTER: his passive makes those artifact lands unable to tap for mana!
The green werewolf that annihilator artifact/enchantments when it attacks flipped 🙃🙂

Speaking as someone who's had the liquid metal coating/ destroy land thing pulled on them. This is totally demoralizing.
