Thank You for a great rundown of the MU1 features. Though I don't particularly like the 'Roon Sound', I am led to believe that this Grimm makes Roon sound very good. I will give it a try soon!

Thanks for watching! It’s definitely worth a try. By the way they made MU2… I haven't tried it yet, but it would be very interesting.

I have heard this with a Dave. It's amazing. So much detail and seperation while still being smooth and (dare I say) analogue sounding. It is an amazing device.

I never heard the MU1 but heard the MU2, it was unbeliveable.

Love my MU1. Use it with AES link to external DAC via Black Cat Cable. The company has very experienced engineers.

Nice review. I will be receiving an Mu1 to demo soon with my Nagra Tube DAC. Hopefully it’s internal clock will be better than the Nagra using the AES out and get me an even better sound. Currently I am using the Auralic Aries G2.1 via USB

I see you also have Aurender, how do you like SQ of MU1 v Aurender, I realise no Roon with Aurender. Thanks

I liked the sound of MU1 better, but the device classes are different. More advanced Aurender, I believe, will be a worthy competitor. By the way, I’ll tell you a secret that there is a very high probability that by the end of the year Aurender can get Roon support.

@@ampli-fi I tried lots of Aurender from entry to top end and they do scale up in sound , I found the N20 probably the sweet spot. I don’t think Aurender will or even want to implement Roon as they don’t believe it is the best sound. I think they are correct , Roon is fantastic I love it as a platform but in terms of pure SQ there’s better. To be honest I find the trade off too small to justify not having it.

"the best Roon server I know." May I please ask, what other Roon servers have you heard?

Thank you for showing interest :) Well, since I've been listening intensively to various audiophile things for the last 5 years, I've tried several during this time. Aside from various Raspberry Pi and QNAP server options, I've built a pretty good (and cheap) one based on a Mac Mini (and it's still on my system just in case). Of course, there was Nucleus and it's ok, but no more. What was really interesting (and relatively exotic like MU1) were: servers from Antipodes (I think it was K50) and from Taiko Audio. Surely if I think about it, there was something else, but I can't remember now (it's already midnight here).

@@ampli-fi Thank you. Yes, I would love to know how the MU1 compares to the Taiko and Antipodes. Also, good sound quality can be obtained by using a separate streamer, such as a Lumin. So many options, it's difficult to know the best way to spend one's money. :)
