Food For Thought: When an Avatar dies, there is a period of time in which technically there is no Avatar on duty, years to discover the next one, even more years of training ideally, so there could be easily 20 to 30 years without a fully realized Avatar, which is more than enough time for the world to fall out of balance again.
Yeah and I also think that's another reason why the Order of the White Lotus exists as kind of a stopgap for this situation. In the mean time, they are the Avatar guardians until he/she becomes a fully realized one. Such an amazing show that makes you think beyond what is being shown in the screen.
the beginning of the first episode always give goosebumps and makes me kinda sad too, that sentence "my brother and many of my friends are gone" 🥲 Great reaction, like always.
Most of the hate stems from the fact the entire story arc isn’t 1 major arcing plot. Due to Nickelodeon only giving them 1 season at first. Then another season. Then another 2 seasons. They had to constantly wrap up each season.
@@kmjkmjkmj Wtf what does that have to do anything?? There are legitimately gigantic and glaring issues with the show. There's a reason ATLA is like universally considered like a 10/10 show, but Korra is nowhere near that (arguably a 6/10 AT BEST if we're being generous)

There are some backstory information that was released on Nickelodeon’s website back when Korra was released. Something few people know that everyone knew back then were the ages and time span. It has been 70 years since Aang defeated Fire Lord Ozai. This show takes place 70 years later. These are the ages of the characters that we have seen so far. Katara= 84 years old Tenzin= 51 years old Lin Beifong= 50 years old Pema (Tenzin’s wife)= 35 years old Avatar Korra= 17 years old Jinora (Tenzin’s oldest daughter)= 10 years old Ikki (Tenzin’s second daughter)= 7 years old Meelo (Tenzin’s only son)= 5 years old Also, Tenzin’s flying bison is NOT Appa. It’s another subspecies of flying bison that was found after Aang defeated Ozai. His name is Oogi. That should be all the backstory info so far.
Legend of korra is one of my absolute favorites it’s a really really nice show and I just know that you’ll enjoy it but of course as mentioned it’s a sequel show so there’s some changes but i’m happy you enjoyed it, also unfortunately it’s not appa because appa was aang’s bison but tenzin’s bison is called oogi
Enjoyed your reaction and glad you're enjoying and viewing LoK as its own thing. I love LoK much. It is clear that the creators didn't want to repeat themselves. You'll see very different arcs for the main characters. Where Aang was a reluctant avatar, Korra revels in it. Also despite being older (a teenager), Korra has lead an isolated life compared to Aang.
In that time, avatar is in danger criminals has a lot of plans how to kill the avatar so white lotus tried to hide the avatar and prep her to become stronger. Also, wherever the avatar is, danger is always chasing her so it may affect the civilians more. So when korra goes in republic city that when the danger started
Keep in mind, the writers intended for Korra to be the opposite of Aang in every way. There are a LOT of people who seem to believe Korra never learns from her mistakes and doesnt change at all throughout the entire show. But if you get to the end of s4 and think shes still the same person she is right now.... she isnt. She just isnt. Youll see. Hope you guys enjoy! My only real regret when it comes to LoK is i waited so long to watch it.

This is one where if you want to enjoy it, you can't compare the quality to that of The Last Airbender, because nothing can compare to Atla. I'm glad to see you guys putting in an active effort not to compare the two and attempting to appreciate this piece as a stand-alone, because if you can let go of any expectations that it'll be like Atla, it's still a pretty decent show. My advice: Seasons 3 and 4 are the best seasons, and while the first two seasons are a bit more flawed, seasons 3 and 4 will pay off!
So glad you two are doing this one! You’ve got a good attitude going into it, looking at it as its own thing. There is hate for this show out there, but my take on this show is that it’s inconsistent. ATLA had the benefit of having a fully mapped out beginning, middle, and end perfectly paced throughout 3 seasons. Korra did not have this benefit and the showrunners didnt know how much they were gonna get, which will be evident as you see it. ATLA will always be my favourite because it’s a perfectly structured story. BUT! I think there are moments and arcs in Korra that improve upon ATLA in emotional complexity, political commentary, action/animation, relationship dynamics etc etc. Korra isn’t perfect, but I really really love and appreciate it despite its flaws, and I’m excited to see your impression of it.
Wooohooo!!! A couple of things : Season 3 is the best, then 1, then 4, and last 2. They do change certain things Avatar had already set up, but it’s pretty good, especially the animation
@@johanluisrivas8016 maybe if your head wasn’t up your ass you could see they changed the origin of bending from animals being the ORIGINAL benders, now to what season 2 of Korra shows. I’m happy to see people who are so open minded about watching Korra! I was super sad that the writers decided to take this direction in the avatar universe because there was word going around saying that they were going to create a short sequel to atla that showed the Gaang going on the adventure to find Zuko’s mother but they ended up going with Korra instead. Honestly, I still have some trouble with Korra even after I have watched 2 seasons because I don’t like most of the things that they made cannon in the avatar universe and it makes me sad to see some of the gaang old after we just saw them as children. After seeing people like you guys who are rlly loving it and are so open minded about it, I’m thinking about giving it a 3rd chance :)
I think the series it sounds like they were gonna make would have been AMAZING and I would love them to revisit a period of time between ATLA were they were kids to were they became adults. That being said….as a show that is connected to the universe but not a complete follow on, I think Korra is an AMAZING show! We absolutely love it! When I watched this show for the first time I was very sad and almost left it but after couple of episodes it did grow on me,I loved all seasons except last 5 or 6 episodes of season 4 that direction was unbearable!
