Akira is a fucking GIANT. He gets really overlooked, but if you put in perspective what he was doing at the time, you can put him on par of the greats. Fast licks, tapping, double hand tapping, sweeps, melodies and GREAT riffs. He had it all, with a great sound too.
I love your song lessons because there is no fluff. You expect the viewer to be somewhat proficient and don't treat every lesson like it's the first time we've held a guitar. Thx for the hard work!
Akira is a bad ass. Saw them live in the 80's. Loved several of their albums. He is a genius with his solos for sure. The Solo from "No Way Out" is incredible, love it, you think its over and he keeps going. And the main riff from "Run For Your Life" is so damn cool (hard to play for me)! And don't forget that EPIC intro to "Ashes in the Sky" off Lightning Strikes! That is a masterpiece by itself imo. Tell me that doesn't get you pumped up?!
I saw Loudness on their Thunder in the East tour. I recently found the Loudness program that contained the album cover picture they signed their autographs on. Along with that, my booklet of autographs of Yngwie Malmsteen and Rising Force, Talas, Riot and Accept,(Balls to the Wall tour) and etc. Akira Takasaki is an awesome guitarist. Thanks for this Chords Play Of, David. This takes me way back to my favorite 80's era.
When I first started out I worked all summer to buy a big SUNN amplifier. The volume knob was labeled LOUDNESS. Fast forward to the 80s and here comes this Japanese metal band called LOUDNESS. My friends were like "Loudness?" But I understood 😁
The other thing I love about Akira is that even though his solos are technically amazing, they're also all completely singable. I can sing all the solos from TITE by heart.
I LOVE Akira! His solo's were like Yngwie, VH, Moore & Schenker, mixed into one. His riffs were always like classic Accept, with that awesome mid paced chunk.
Wayback in the year 1987 when I was a young guitar nerd, I saw Loudness open for Yngwie Malmsteen as main support with TNT as the opener. I did not really care about YJM and I knew that Ronnie Le Tekro was very good, but I went to see Akira and he did not disappoint. I think I still have one of his guitar picks around somewhere; a little jazz three sized with his name on it, but spelled “Akilla”. It was cool!
I got to do a show as a stage hand with Loudness at Cardis in Houston around 1986. Amazing band and amazing fun times those were. Enjoyed the times and their music and still do.
I still have “Thunder In The East” on vinyl...Akira was the dude that introduced me to this little known guitar brand called ESP...they were from Japan and you never saw them in the states...I wanted one so bad...ah, those childhood memories!!
Saw them at the Hollywood Palladium and a week later at the California theater in San Diego with Warrior and Malice. Like Hell, The Lines Are Down and Heavy Chains were always my favorites.
Once again David you out done yourself love it buddy I always have loved this band my favorite song is crazy nights and let it go and many many more songs thank you this is been very enriching 🙏👍😎🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸❤️
Akira had the best pure metal tone in the eighties. A lot of it had to do with the way he picked the strings, kinda a quasi pinch harmonic style, only with chords rather than single notes. Great stuff.
I saw Loudness back up Motley Crue in 1985 ... Akira was the better player that night but Motley Crue owned the arena ... Akira’s solo spot was incredible ... the first time I saw a player using looping for backing tracks to solo against in a live setting ... up the irons mates !!!
The feedback is good. Not too familiar with this outfit but some killer riffs and will certainly be scoping them out. Crazy Doctor is great fun to play . Nice one 👍🇬🇧
Akira deserves much more recognition than he has gotten in America. Few guitar players with his shredding talent have the ability to make interesting music for decades the way he has. Most run out of ideas after a few albums. Absolutely, you should do more lessons that focus on Akira.
Japan has given us some serious talent over the years. Akira is a well-respected influence all around the world. Galneryus is another top-level metal band from Japan. My favorite is LOVEBITES. Miyako and Midori are the new heavy-hitters in the metal guitar world! Miyako was born in Osaka, back in 1990. Must be something in the water out there!
Merci David, vous rendez hommage à Loudness, et c'est beau ! Mais Thunder in the east mérite un épisode complet !! S'il vous plaît,pensez y ! Thank you David, you give beautiful Trinité to Loudness ! But Thunder in the east deserve a complete episode, please, think about it !
Missing Akira's tone a little but so glad you are sharing Loudness music again \m/ For newer stuff The Sun Will Rise Again is really great. Love this episode brother!
Thanks for expanding on Akira’s technique... really insightful and informative. I’ve been a huge fan of his style and tone since hearing TITE, back in the 80’s. I’m my opinion, a number of his riffs and solos are some of the best ever put out there
Thank you!!! Love Akira’s playing. Glad you gave some love to the early Japanese releases. Was turned on to Loudness by a Japanese classmate in high school back in 85-86. Some of his best leads are in the outros of songs like Clockwork Toy.
Lightning Strikes is a Great album too. They opened up for Motley Crue during Theatre of Pain tour. Note: Dub the chords with the side of your thumb while picking, you'll get that Mid/hollow tone sound. Thanks B🐓!
Great lesson Dave. I remember them getting some airplay here maybe on the 1st couple of albums? They were pretty good and knew how to write for the times. Glad you caught some creative nuggets from this band to share with us. We appreciate it.
Another great video. Akira Takasaki is an awesome guitarist and one of my favs. Would love to see a video on Magnus Henriksson or Chords from Eclipse if you're up with more recent stuff. He's got some amazing skills.
Seen - Loudness in the Crow bar , Sydney , 2 years ago ! , Shame , Munetaki Higushi has passed on . An in gredible drummer !! , 3 piece Dynamo . The sound in the room was pumping with huge bass ,,Big drums and heavy over driven tones and screeching lead breaks , Legends of power rock n Metal ! ( lightening strikes ! )
Saw this band at Harpo's in Detroit it was a midweek show they were going to warm up for motley Crue that weekend I believe. Hardly anyone was there and I got to stand about 10 ft away from the guitar player the whole night. They sounded great live.
@@ChangGang I heard the same thing and didn't have to go to a jam packed Joe Louis arena to see them two days later either. Loudness was really hustling playing local venues in between their motley shows.
I was lucky enough to see Loudness for my 21st birthday in Tokyo at the Budokan and hang with the band after the show. Mike Vescera was the lead singer at the time. I had heard and owned Thunder in the East but I became a huge fan after that show. Great work covering Akira's technique. It would be great if you could cover more of Loudness stuff. As a suggestion, could you do an episode on X-Japan covering Hide and Pata's guitar work?
There are soo many Other ryhthym parts that Akira incorporates which makes him probably the most underrated rhythm player of All time~ he just gets props for his solos but it's Much More than THAT~ Great video,. I wish you'd do More on his uncanny Rhythm and pinch technique,. NO guitar player incorporates Evert facet of Rock Guitar player in a musical fashion BETTER than Akira~
I seen them on the Lighting Strikes tour It was headlined by AC/DC. Also Quiet Riot and Yngwie at the Legend Valley music center in Thornville Ohio back in the mid 80s. It was the Who Made Who tour for AC/DC. Great show. Although some people were booing Loudness because they were from Japan. I love Loudness! They totally kick ass!
Loudness lead licks part#2 lesson. Check out the solos in the band name FISC. The guitar solos are not bad I like the diminished scale run the the song toyko nights by FISC
Loudness is an amazing band, Akira is great. You should check out X Japan, in my opinion the best "metal" band out of Japan, they have some amazing songs
Those were great riffs! Have you checked out Zak Wylde latest videos. It’s great to see legends keep on rocking. We need to keep rockin! You should start writing some stuff !

Thx for the hard work!
Agreed...Dave keeps it moving and interesting!!!!
"Crazy Nights" is one of my all-time favorite riffs. And Akira's tone is absolutely vicious!
It's what I refer to as an intimidation tone!
Akira's tone on this and Warren DeMartini's on the 1st 2 full Ratt albums are what made me want to learn to play.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy Doctor is epic. My first concert was Poison, Ratt, and Loudness. I was 5 and my Mom took me LOL. My Mom was awesome.
I saw Loudness on their Thunder in the East tour. I recently found the Loudness program that contained the album cover picture they signed their autographs on. That Crazy Doctor riff is killer.
Totally killer. I saw Paul Gilbert play this on a vid a few weeks ago and had never heard it before. Instantly had to grab my guitar and learn it.
I LOVE Akira!
His solo's were like Yngwie, VH, Moore & Schenker, mixed into one.
His riffs were always like classic Accept, with that awesome mid paced chunk.
He was Better than ALL of them as far as technique and composing~
Akira has some of the heaviest rhythm tones out there! Love those early Loudness albums! Thanks for the lessons!!
His tone was so heavy and tuned straight up...none of that drop tuning nonsense...amazing!!!!!
Saw Loudness at Le Spectrum in Montreal believe it was in 85!🤘🏻
Wayback in the year 1987 when I was a young guitar nerd, I saw Loudness open for Yngwie Malmsteen as main support with TNT as the opener. I did not really care about YJM and I knew that Ronnie Le Tekro was very good, but I went to see Akira and he did not disappoint. I think I still have one of his guitar picks around somewhere; a little jazz three sized with his name on it, but spelled “Akilla”.
It was cool!
Akilla, because Japanese cannot pronounce the letter R.
I got to do a show as a stage hand with Loudness at Cardis in Houston around 1986. Amazing band and amazing fun times those were. Enjoyed the times and their music and still do.
Akira Takasaki!
What a monster guitarist!
He reminded me a lot of what Eddie was doing back then.
Great stuff!
Thanks again!
I still have “Thunder In The East” on vinyl...Akira was the dude that introduced me to this little known guitar brand called ESP...they were from Japan and you never saw them in the states...I wanted one so bad...ah, those childhood memories!!
Akira is King
Akira!!!! Today im sure I will have a sleepless night ...
Saw them at the Hollywood Palladium and a week later at the California theater in San Diego with Warrior and Malice. Like Hell, The Lines Are Down and Heavy Chains were always my favorites.

Great lesson , when I heard Loudness way back in 81 I was stunned by Akira's playing , just as you said a 'monster of a player'....Cheers
"The lines are down" is hands down their best song imo. Thunder in the east is a masterpiece.
Awesome dude. Akira.. EVH with Wolf Hoffman riffs
Feel very fortunate that I got to open for LOUDNESS at Dante's in Portland around 2010 or 11.
I saw that show. Summer of 11. I used to practically live at Dante's. Sad days for Portland music...RIP Chris Newman
Wow. No shit man.
Thunder in the East had a huge impact on me. Heavy great album with wicked guitar playing! Thanks 🍺‘ski!🤘
Hey! Mr. Remüs!!
@WAYNE FG
From Buffalo I’m a Zappa Freak & that’s my favorite song from him.
I saw Loudness back up Motley Crue in 1985 ... Akira was the better player that night but Motley Crue owned the arena ... Akira’s solo spot was incredible ... the first time I saw a player using looping for backing tracks to solo against in a live setting ... up the irons mates !!!

I like how you always put up the framed LPs in your videos specific to your lessons brah. Very informative channel!
Akira deserves much more recognition than he has gotten in America. Few guitar players with his shredding talent have the ability to make interesting music for decades the way he has. Most run out of ideas after a few albums. Absolutely, you should do more lessons that focus on Akira.
The first riff sounds like Accepts "balls to the wall"! nice video!

Indeed and you can't forget Takayoshi Ohmura who sometimes plays for Baby Metal.
I saw LOUDNESS and I’m here
I want you to know that I love your channel and think you are very talented. I wish I was younger so I could learn more from you. You’re Awesome
Your Right Hand Technique really is Impressive!
Love Akira Takasaki!
Love me some LOUDNESS!
I was introduced to Loudness with the "Live-Loud-Alive" album and was blown away! Akira is still one of my favorites to this day! 🙏🎸🤘
Merci David, vous rendez hommage à Loudness, et c'est beau ! Mais Thunder in the east mérite un épisode complet !! S'il vous plaît,pensez y !

Epic.
Soldier of Fortune still ranks as one of my favourite albums of all time, it's ridiculous plus the songwriting, in general, is awesome.
Thanks for expanding on Akira’s technique... really insightful and informative. I’ve been a huge fan of his style and tone since hearing TITE, back in the 80’s. I’m my opinion, a number of his riffs and solos are some of the best ever put out there

I, came to see the show.
Your first Akira video was the one that hooked me on the channel! Love Loudness!
This is a great channel....always something to look forward to. Many thanks.
I have been waiting for this one! 🤘Akira is a monster
Lightning Strikes is a Great album too. They opened up for Motley Crue during Theatre of Pain tour.
Note: Dub the chords with the side of your thumb while picking, you'll get that Mid/hollow tone sound.
Thanks B🐓!
Great lesson again! Akira is a monster guitarist! Loudness rules!
Great lesson Dave. I remember them getting some airplay here maybe on the 1st couple of albums? They were pretty good and knew how to write for the times. Glad you caught some creative nuggets from this band to share with us. We appreciate it.
I remember seeing the video to This Lonely Heart as a teenager. I was blown away. Was a fan from that point.
Big fan of Run for Your Life....great playing!
Another great video. Akira Takasaki is an awesome guitarist and one of my favs. Would love to see a video on Magnus Henriksson or Chords from Eclipse if you're up with more recent stuff. He's got some amazing skills.
Great lesson. One of the two or three metal guitar players of that era that really stood out to me.
Amazing!! Let's look to let it go & Crazy nights
Loudness rocks! Thanks for doing this lesson David!
To me, Akira’s music seemed to be a fantastic blend of Van Halen, White Lion, Dokken w/o copying them. Superb lesson! 80s Hardrock forever!!!!!!
So good, thanks for this, more please 🤘

@@ChangGang I heard the same thing and didn't have to go to a jam packed Joe Louis arena to see them two days later either. Loudness was really hustling playing local venues in between their motley shows.
Bring on the LOUDNESS!
ROCK ON DAVE! 👊 🎸
Love it! Played Crazy Nights in a cover band back in the late 80's 🤘
The trick to this riff is to really slice into those chords... especially that quick opening A to F# (that harmonic growl is the key to Akira's tone).
I can't believe I've never heard of them in the uk. Some great riffs to learn, and band to chack out. Thanks.
YES YES YES! I LOVE these guys!
Great lesson! That clean piece at the end was actually used again on Hurricane Eyes, on the intro to So Lonely
Nice! Another great one, thanks for the lesson bro 👍👍🎸
Can you do a chordplay of Wasp?
I was lucky enough to see Loudness for my 21st birthday in Tokyo at the Budokan and hang with the band after the show. Mike Vescera was the lead singer at the time. Holy Crap. Right on.
LOCK N LOLL Baby!!!
Some of the best ever.
RIP Munetaka Higuchi
a very creative drummer as well
Your tone is awesome today. That guitar sounds great!
Wok & Woll!!!!! Great lesson..... Loudness KILLS.
Aw Dude...that was so wrong...but funny!!!!!
There are soo many Other ryhthym parts that Akira incorporates which makes him probably the most underrated rhythm player of All time~

Hell yeah! Any chance of a King Crimson chord play?
Well done my friend. As always.
ah dude...I dig Loudness! Nice riff lesson! Thanks.
WOW!!!! This is awesome!!!!!
Awesome 👍, underrated guitarist and band!
Great band that I forgot all about somehow. Weird. Thanks for the reminder!
good stuff !
Awesome as always David!!!! Glad you did this!!
Skid row or savatage please!!!
And Voivod, please!
Savatage would be sweet!
Gary Holt
the change in sound after the soldier of fortune and on the prowl albums is rather drastic ;) overall it suddenly sounded like they went after Pantera
Thanks i totally forgot them Loudness great band.
AKIRA!!!!!!!!!!
Hell yeah!!!
MORE LOUDNESS please.
The guitar tone on TITE is second only to VH1 as far as I'm concerned.
The Japanese Paul Gilbert
Tried some Loudness a few months ago and didn’t really feel it. Now Anthem, that’s a band right there.
Loudness lead licks part#2 lesson. Check out the solos in the band name FISC. The guitar solos are not bad I like the diminished scale run the the song toyko nights by FISC
Could you please do ANTHEM? Guitar player Akio. Very Good player and Tone!
M-Z-A!
Loudness is an amazing band, Akira is great. You should check out X Japan, in my opinion the best "metal" band out of Japan, they have some amazing songs
Loudness is one of my favorite bands ever best album is shadows of war
Akira-san, oishii desu!
Those were great riffs! Have you checked out Zak Wylde latest videos. It’s great to see legends keep on rocking. We need to keep rockin! You should start writing some stuff !
How about a lesson highlighting Joe Holmes!
👍
