Watching this tonight, barely 12 hours from running my first marathon. Very inspirational! Great work putting this together and thank you for doing so and most importantly CONGRATULATIONS!
What marathon? Athens? Thank you for checking out my film and for your kind words. Massive good luck to you with your marathon... I hope you have an awesome experience :) I always like to hear others experiences... let me know how you get on :) All the best Scott
Kishere Film thanks Scott! I am running the Madison Marathon in Madison, WI. Won’t be as gorgeous as Athens I’m sure but will be great nonetheless haha.
That’s nice of you to say ... I was very aware of the salt on my face from sweating during the run. I was pleased my hair looked good though lol. Thank you for checking out my little film :) Scott 🏃🏻♂️🏃♀️🎥
Kishere Film We’re all pretty salty at the end! You guys made me want to run Chicago again (I already put my name in the ballot 🤞). I hope you two are still celebrating your amazing accomplishments 🍾🎉💪🙌
Love your films Scott! Having done New York with you in 2018 and 4 others marathons, I am really missing the motivation to get up and run and being able to look forward to the next one! Your films bring back those memories and inspire me to keep going!
Scott and Kat - just seen the vid - and loved it. Scott - you overtook me when I hit the wall after mile 16 - recognised you from your NYC and London vids. So impressed with both your times. Can't believe you cope with type 1 diabetes and run marathons. I scraped in under 5 - so was chuffed. Wonderful that you both have running in common. Fingers crossed I can run NYC this year. Keep it up!
Andy Fuller-Lewis Pleased you enjoyed the video Andy!! If you see me at another race say hello :) Type One can be a pain but I use it as motivation a lot of the time. It is great that Kat and I enjoy running together. Don’t get me wrong, like everyone else there are days we struggle... Especially through these stormy weekends, we kind of motivate each other to lace up and get out. I hope you get to run NYC this year. We are running the NYC United Half in 3 weeks. Good luck with future races :) Scott
(tear wipe) Great stuff. Congratulations to you both, Scott and Kat. A great end to what seemed like a terrific trip. Excellent work by you both. I hope you are looking forward to your next Marathon adventure already. Cheers!!! Enjoy the memory of your triumph.
Thank you!!! Yes it was Paula Radcliffe ... she put a tweet out that she watched this video. I will share that tweet in my RUclips feed!! She was very nice and it was awesome of her to wait by the finish line to hand runners medals :)
Well done lads!! Nice video. I completed my first ever marathon in December on my own with no crowd or finish line just me and pure determination in 3:47 the last 10k was the toughest. What was the hardest section for ye in this one? I can’t wait for normality to return and will add Chicago to my list!
Congrats!! That is an awesome finish time running the marathon on your own. I did my own marathon too on a very hilly route during a storm, probably not the cleverest of ideas on my part lol! It was a great sense of achievement when I completed it though, mainly because I didn’t let 2020 stop me. I also raised some money for a local charity which gave it extra value. I am with you on the last stretch, somehow I had managed to set a course with the biggest hill (which felt like a mountain) in the last 2 miles. Chicago was great ... it’s a fairly flat course, I would say mile 24 onwards was tough because there was a lot of head wind. Chicago is known as the Windy City though. Also there is a slight incline in the last mile which you feel. I would totally recommend! Keep me posted if you do it 👍🏻 Keep safe :) Scott
Your video is amazing - such an inspiration! Would you be able to share what was the song that was playing while Paula was medaling you? You also mention that your blood sugar was 7.6 during the race. Does that mean that it was somewhere between 70-110? Thanks for sharing your story and showing that someone with DM Type 1 can run marathons!
Thank you so much Strava buddy :) The music for my films I licence through a website called Artist. You may be able to find out the name of the track on there... If I find the track I will let you know. I am not sure what the conversion is in blood sugars is for this reading. I can occasionally have a hypo mid-run but I deal with this with sports gels so that was a reading I was happy with for sure :) Stay safe in these surreal times Scott

Wonderful!! Congratulations to you both!🙂
Congratulations, you guys! Amazing times and what’s even more impressive is how fresh you both look at the finish line!
