I heard this song for the 1st time 3 years ago. There was a wedding across the woods from my house. The live band took a break so someone DJ'd for 30 mins. This was the 1st song played. I heard it in an echo coming through the woods. It was the most beautiful song I'd ever heard playing on the breeze. Thank you Maggie. You are super talented. I love every song you've put out. ❤

Probably so, but as someone who mixes and masters everyday, I think there's too much mixing and mastering in the world and not enough free and fast moving creativity. 😊 I don't know why so many sing like they're drunk these days (My suspicion is it's partly insecurity about the words), but hey it's working for them so whatevs. This is a pleasant and sweet recording i'd say.

You wouldn't necessarily hear the difference that a few hours of mixing and mastering makes, especially comparing that video footage to the actual audio.

Hello.. I don't mean to disturb you. But, would you mind sharing what you made of those lines..? What's your takeaway.. When you say 'it's says everything yet nothing. Feel free to not respond. Thank you.
Forgive me but how could you say something so ignorant about someone else’s art? Songs are poetry and poetry is so subjective, that line means something to the artist and to the listeners who interpret their own meaning. It’s almost like she’s breathing that person away in her own mind, “and now breathe deep I’m inhaling, you and I there’s air in between” there is air in between her and the subject of the song, she’s emotionally detaching herself from that person. That’s just my interpretation, like I said the artist’s could be completely different.
'You and I, there's and inbetween' wouldn't really work. Anyway, so air... plenty of that around. Full of invisible sub-atomic particles dancing around us and also not. Air... it's so vague
Back in 6th grade, I had a songwriting class and our teacher showed us this song as an example for the lyrics! We were learning about rhyming words and stuff, it was really fun. Although, I didn't do very well in that class because I wasn't interested in making music (I eventually left that school-) I'm still bopping my head to this song lol.
Yes! I heard it for the first time during the master class and I’m like I was amazed the second time hearin it amazing I have Adhd and I could hear eveything single detail it’s amazing

It is refreshing to see an artist express themselves exactly how they wish, versus falling into the cookie-cutter mold. If I had four thumbs, I would put them all up!
I'm fortunate I met Maggie Rogers before my group realized how talented she had become and how bright she performed on stage. As for how I got acquainted with Maggie Rogers, when I worked as a hotel receptionist, she stood in the hotel where I worked. She performed this song at a modest venue in my city. After that performance, she appeared warm and engaged the audience in conversation, and afterwards, talked to me and my colleague. It's worth standing around for the energy. I'm fortunate Pharrell spotted her spirit before her songs attracted the global spotlight.
Without a doubt one of the most beautiful, deeply meaningful songs I've ever heard. Unique sound paired with an experience we all can connect with. Beautiful.
MrChrisMDong ... it’s a meme. I don’t really talk like that lol. It comes from obviously made up stories from tumblr where the story teller invariably receives a slow clap standing ovation and someone hands them $100. This song feels like that moment when you go for a walk and the nature around you is so perfect, so unconcerned with you, but also feels like it was staged just for your viewing. And you start to fill up all of the parts of you that felt deflated and soon you overflow with tears of relief and gratitude that you get to experience life, that you get to be you, that you get to feel this deeply, that you always have the opportunity to change and grow and evolve. You will always be shedding your old self and growing your new one. And you can’t tell if you’re feeling intensely or softly, but you’re just relieved to be so thoroughly connected to the disconnection. It’s probably what animals feel, and for a little bit you get to be an animal too.
I just found out about Maggie yesterday. There is a real warmth to her music. Her voice is so beautiful. She has a levity to her writing but also oscillates between this real light, float-like quality to a more grounded, folk chorus. I like the way she juxtapositions the two, they work real well together.
I loved the fact that Pharrell was amazed at her voice in her school. That video is so genuine that she didn't even realize he really loved the demo. Definitley different sounds from anything I've heard. I can listen to her voice forever. Very melancholy and dream like.
AHHHH MAGGIE YOURE TRENDING THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!!!! It's still so crazy to think that five years ago we were in the same choir and now your low key/high key famous! I'm not surprised at all but it's still so crazy how much can change in so little time! Can't wait for a full album! Sending lots of love and congrats
I am someone who listens mostly the 70s & 80s because im really disillusioned with modern music. But this here is different. Finally something good and fresh!
Maggie - thanks for creating and sharing your beautiful song. Thanks also for subtitling it so beautifully. As a parent to a son who is heard of hearing, enjoys music, but struggles to hear the vocals, this matters more than you know. Thank you.
Oh Maggie, every time I watch this, I’m thankful for her creativity and artistic vision. It’s so refreshing. Gives me hope for music, art, and frankly life. Thanks Maggie!
I listened to the Pharrel Masterclass and I was suprised by Pharrel's comments. There are artists who combine folkloric with dance music really well. I just feel Pharrel was so blown away by her natural talent and the total completeness of the production values, he just couldn't think quickly enough to actually say that - he just didn't say a lot because he was in shock!
Here after the Pharell clip with her, never heard of her but had to check it out! From the comments looks like lots did 6months ago too! Pretty good to have it recommended twice in 6 months!
The more I listen to the song the more I love it.. I think it talks about how she left an abusive relationship, and She felt like a total different person after it ended and was completely over it... or at least that's how I interpret it! I love it!!
Not necessarily abusive, but a relationship where she clearly was not being herself but rather trying to please or be what she thought that other person wanted
This song came out the first time I left my home Alaska after graduating, recently heard again, just left home again and moving away for good, this song still gives me chills.
Love her voice, there’s something really calming and relaxing about her voice and personality, since the first time I saw the Masterclass vid I’ve watched it easily 20 plus times and still has the same calmness, also how naturally beautiful she is, that smile 😱👌 keep doin you maggie!
I have literally just stumbled across Maggie, wow. I cannot believe how she takes me somewhere that I have never been before, ever. Just incredible how I feel when I hear this song 💚
I love this. I see how this was inspired by her experience studying abroad, I also think she was letting go of someone and using the experience hence - you and I, there’s air in-between 👏🏽👏🏽smart and beautiful lyrics
Wasn't she in a video with Pharrell where he listened to this song and told her how amazing it was? I swear I've heard this song/seen her before but I've never witched this video before
I don’t remember where I first heard this song, but I think it was on SoundCloud randomly when it first came out. But listening to it again 3 years later fills me with nostalgia
Maggie, you are amazing - your spirit, your voice and ear. I admire your strength and am always brought to a stillness when I hear you coming through headphones; you're authenticity stands apart from the increasingly vapor-based culture of our country. I'm so thankful for you. All the best to you.
The fact this is 5 years old and didn’t blow up on the hot 100… Billboard.. can we pull a Lizzo and get this to chart? Imagine the Kygo remix of this!!
The progression of the strength of her voice, the airy tone of the chorus and the mastering of this song are an absolute masterpiece!!! When I first saw this and heard her say, “It could probably use a couple more hours of mixing and mastering, but it’s okay for now,” and then heard the song, I was in shock that she thought it needed anything else !!!!
Maybe to you but this song is great in many aspects to a lot of people, that's what's great about music to us as humans. Certain songs will influence people in different ways and inspire us to act or think about things in a different way. So what might not affect you might affect a lot of other people.

I like the way she juxtapositions the two, they work real well together.
haven't stopped listening to this in weeks. so empowering
simply beautiful and authentic
Eileen Shan Zou authentic? lmao
Are you new in alternative music?
She's so F BEAUTIFUL !!! Simple timeless....
This song is very very different from what i usually or people hear..she deserved that grammy nomination
Darn right
Oh my god I love those trees! That setting!!

Thank you.
Man I love simple videos like this. Compliments the song so well
Why’s it “simple”?
It's anything but simple
"complements"
@@padrelaw nono lol
Yeah it's a rare video nowadays, it's simple and really fitting
Oh Maggie, every time I watch this, I’m thankful for her creativity and artistic vision. It’s so refreshing. Gives me hope for music, art, and frankly life. Thanks Maggie!
I listened to the Pharrel Masterclass and I was suprised by Pharrel's comments. There are artists who combine folkloric with dance music really well. I just feel Pharrel was so blown away by her natural talent and the total completeness of the production values, he just couldn't think quickly enough to actually say that - he just didn't say a lot because he was in shock!
@Maggie Rogers love it Maggie. Heard it first time today and it's amazing
This song deserves 1 million views!
Maggie is so underrated..
I agree, she's talented.
Alain Bruno 50,000 views away bro... It's almost there.

Here after the Pharell clip with her, never heard of her but had to check it out! From the comments looks like lots did 6months ago too! Pretty good to have it recommended twice in 6 months!
My mom use to play this song on car trips to Colorado or camping. And now I love this song so much. 💕
Woooow you're mom is one cool mom
Flipper Awee thanks, I’ll tell her you said that she would really appreciate that. ❤️
The more I listen to the song the more I love it.. I think it talks about how she left an abusive relationship, and She felt like a total different person after it ended and was completely over it... or at least that's how I interpret it! I love it!!
Rosio Martinez it was inspired from a hike in Alaska...
Not necessarily abusive, but a relationship where she clearly was not being herself but rather trying to please or be what she thought that other person wanted
What a beautiful song, it makes me feel so much, every time
This song came out the first time I left my home Alaska after graduating, recently heard again, just left home again and moving away for good, this song still gives me chills.
Alaska will always be home....
I’m from Palmer as well. No place like AK
Love her voice, there’s something really calming and relaxing about her voice and personality, since the first time I saw the Masterclass vid I’ve watched it easily 20 plus times and still has the same calmness, also how naturally beautiful she is, that smile 😱👌 keep doin you maggie!
This is cooler than I ever imagined. Thank you!

I love this. I see how this was inspired by her experience studying abroad, I also think she was letting go of someone and using the experience hence - you and I, there’s air in-between 👏🏽👏🏽smart and beautiful lyrics
Listens for a second or two...thinks for a moment more and tells ones self assuredly.....she's perfect!
Righttt??
Thank you Francisco from San Francisco for bringing me to this gem of a song!

Wasn't she in a video with Pharrell where he listened to this song and told her how amazing it was? I swear I've heard this song/seen her before but I've never witched this video before
Yes.
Joseph Frank thank you lol, I am glad I got it right! Good for her that she's getting out there!
boomboom122 (stepha g) yes she was!
boomboom122 (stepha g) on Reddit right? That's how come she blew up
Meursault I found out about her because some clickbaity site got a hold of her video and it popped up on my Facebook feed.
Beautiful, angelic voice! This girl's a STAR!!
Im in love with your voice!! This song. Has never been skipped❤ even when im with the homeboys🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can't be the only one who gets emotional when I hear this song.

Sammeee
Sameeeee
I don’t remember where I first heard this song, but I think it was on SoundCloud randomly when it first came out. But listening to it again 3 years later fills me with nostalgia
Maggie, you are amazing - your spirit, your voice and ear. I admire your strength and am always brought to a stillness when I hear you coming through headphones; you're authenticity stands apart from the increasingly vapor-based culture of our country. I'm so thankful for you. All the best to you.
Ahhh Maggie x x You are a goddess and this had me smiling the whole time. The future is here.
Véronique Rachel Gervais
The fact this is 5 years old and didn’t blow up on the hot 100… Billboard.. can we pull a
Lizzo and get this to chart? Imagine the Kygo remix of this!!
She is gorgeous. Her voice makes her more gorgeous.
Saw a contestant sing this on The Voice tonight and loved it. Excited to find this new artist..... new to me anyways. ☺️
yay I viewed it under 2800 views. this is going to blow UP! Love it Maggie!!!!!!
literally nothing special about this song btw
