    Join a sailing club then sign up to crew on someone else’s boat. I did that and inside of a year I was given a S2 6.7. Did a bottom job, replaced the running rigging, light maintenance on the outboard and some general cleaning. For less than $2000 all in I got a boat that’s great for day cruising and learning how to handle a larger boat! Not a 33 footer and not gonna take me to the Bahamas I know. However it proving that nothing is more expensive than a free boat… cause it’s making me want a bigger boat!

    Good friends help their buddies out, especially in times of need. This seems a well maintained if an old design that will have an old style layout. Not a racer but not meant to be other than a cruiser. I like the keel configuration for a cruiser. Someone will be very happy with this deal if they know what they are looking for and this boat fits the bill for them. Sweet!

    Nice boat. The construction details are almost the same as my Allied Princess 36. That isn't surprising since Allied built the Luders 33 too. This boat will be a good sailer, but will seem small by modern standards. It will get you there. I suspect the hull is solid glass and that there won't be any blisters. My 72/73 Allied has no blisters. The deck is likely balsa cored so some people may be worried about wet core. However, on my Allied the upper skin on the balsa cored deck is almost 1/4" thick, so the core is not really needed.

    • @dalewhite7775
      @dalewhite7775 Месяц назад

      Have an Allied Seawind II. These hulls will still be around in another 20 years and more. Don't get why insurers are trying to phase them out. Balsa cored decks are only a problem when deck harware rebedding maintenance is neglected. Epoxy seal the thruholes and no more worries.

    Excellent pedigree for the asking price. It's ironic that people will put 25k into a used car but get all conservative about a 10k boat. It's a sweetheart deal and if not your cup of tea then you can flip her for something else. I have a preference for center cockpit and aft state rooms IE: Hans Christian 33 but that's just personal choice. This is a great deal and a decent inventory. An afternoon sail would be all it should take to close the deal. Thanks for the showing.

    Looking for a place to comment or message you, not necessarily about this video. Maybe you could do a video about the costs of boat ownership and sailing. I mean you buy a boat, then what? Expensively you can pay craftsman and marinas, but what about long term affordable boating? DIY repairing and the ins and outs of locating anchorage areas to save on those expensive dock and mooring fees. Everyone says anchor out, but no one says where to find those spots and how to safely do it. I’ve been on docks and moorings for years, but now I want to challenge myself and anchor for next season, but I’m realizing just how much I don’t know about finding anchorage spots.

    Thank you for sharing. Actually, I never thought about buying sailing boat ⛵ before, although the thought of sailing tickled my fantasy for many years. However, this year I thought to look for what would cost to have one and I noticed that you can have one for like 1000$ up to like 1000000!
    Anyway, my comment here is about when you said this boat is old and slow. I wonder, slow comparing to what? Whatever advice you can give to me I'll take it. I already applied for a docking spot in the marina where I live and I'm looking forward to buying my first sailing boat soon. Thank you🌹

    That's a good looking sailboat! 15k seems very reasonable for something in that condition. I bet those cockpit lockers are massive! The large fore and aft overhangs of the hull may slow it down a bit most of the time (due to the shorter waterline length), but that should also ease the motion if the waves pick up right? Looks like the rudder is keel hung with a cutout for the prop: pretty bulletproof there as long as the rudder tube doesn't leak. Looks like a good cruiser.

    I'm not that surprised when I see well kept boats. Even the concept of returning from left for dead doesn't deserve to be bashed. I've fixed everything from a calf with an infected knee to an unwanted Wurlitzer to a car that spent two decades buried in a chop shop to a rental plane that got partly stripped. I don't feel this hesitation around boats, and I just bought motor parts today. There may be a trailerable sailboat sneaking up on me and I don't know it. It's nice to have a diesel and a DSC radio sitting around.

    I live near a decently large landlocked lake in the southern U.S. and I’ve spotted several great boats that would be perfect for a solo/couple making a run through the Bahamas and Antilles. The problem is that, while they’re incredibly inexpensive compared to their counterparts already in salt water, the cost for the transport to splash on the coast makes it a bit too prohibitive.

    • @nickthedick3742
      @nickthedick3742 Месяц назад

      There's one I was looking at land locked in Nashville. Great deal but the $10k it would cost to get it to the coast puts it in a more normal price range for the model. However $3k would get it transferred a few miles to the Tennessee river and sail from there. You only need to get it to the nearest navigable waterway. That could save you a lot.

    • @nickthedick3742
      @nickthedick3742 Месяц назад

      My hypothetical there was a 37' boat, but I actually bought a trailer for my 27'. Like sailboats the trailers are hard to sell so they have a buyer's market too. One can get non commercial wide load permits in several states. You might be surprised what you can do yourself. Many boats up to 30' are within modern pick-up towing capacity.

    I totally understand why people sell boats "cheep". They are a huge commitment of time and money. They start looking shabby if they sit around. Sell it fast and moved on!

    Dont buy any boat without a full survey. The boat featured here is too old, built before the fiberglass improvements of the late 80’s.

      You do not know anything about fiberglass on boats in the 60’s.
