      @@puppups16 LMAO please fact check the average monetisation statistics for a 10-20 minute RUclips video which accumulates an average of a million views (these figures based on Cristine's latest RUclips videos on her main channel).
      (this is all speculation. I haven’t seen their bank statements and I am making these estimates based off of information available to the public. I don’t know the intricacies of Cristine and Ben's financial situation.)
      I’ll save you the effort - the average is around $1000-$1500 USD per video. Cristine is making about three videos a month lately therefore we can estimate she makes $3000-$4500 USD. The median wage in the USA is ~$2998 per month, according to worlddata.info, so according to our estimate Cristine is making equal to or slightly more than the average worker from her main channel.
      When you consider her second channel, both podcast channels, Holo Taco and her crime statistics part time hours, I'd guess that she’s receiving above the US median wage per month. My point is that Cristine and Ben are not millionaires. I’d imagine they have enough money to live comfortably in a nice house however they are still working citizens who have to manage their finances and find avenues to diversify their income like any other person in any other occupation.
      Cristine and Ben have been very smart with their finances over the course of years and they have risked a lot of time and money in RUclips and Holo Taco. They are in their financial position now because they did the maths and they took the risks and the risks paid off.
      All that said, this is just speculation. I don’t know anything about Cristine and Ben's finances and neither do you.
      Sincerely, a nerd with too much time on her hands.

    I was working from home for over 4 months. The first 2 months were alright. But because the space for rest became the space for both work and rest, it took a toll on my mental health. I found myself overworking (started work immediately after waking up and ended work at 3am) and I was also working on my Master's during weekends. I got extremely depressed, anxious, and burnt out. I cried almost every day. When my company emailed all employees that we can go back physically, I went back immediately. It feels great to have separate spaces for work and for rest.

    If you need to leave your gov job, don't keep it just because of the role model reputation you've given yourself and the idea of disappointing people or something. Even in this comment section there's lots of "I love the fact you still work a day job, it is why I watch you" which must be SO hard because the more that piles up the more pressure you have but whilst the sentiment is definitely still there, it has to be said that it wouldn't be stupid for you to leave. Not like some youtubers who have a few viral vids and then leave but it is a blip. You said it yourself - six years. A nail polish business. You've created your own stability. I've always associated with you because I work for the UK gov and share your views on the importance of education etc but yeah I totally wouldn't be able to juggle the commitments you have, I guess it is a matter of reflecting on the one that gives you the least fulfilment and cutting down on that one, whether that is your day job I don't know. Go easy on yourself. Much love!

      True! Just a few days ago I saw someone insisting (and calling people who disagree stupid) that a RUclipsr who barely has two million subscribers and is barely eighteen must’ve moved out of her parents house and has her own mansion now bc she is a youtuber. Later they said that if she lived with her parents, she was the one paying for the whole thing because she’s a youtuber.(And this youtuber has said that she wants to wait before moving out many times so I don’t get where that person got their info from) but they yelled and me and others for disagreeing with them which was crazy, especially since there have been many people who come out and say roughly how much RUclips pays them and it’s really not a lot.

    @ShadowsofAka 3 года назад +20

    The ongoing situation and having to work at home seems to affect a lot of people negatively; I know many who have suffered a decrease in mental health, myself included. I don't even work - I'm a university student, and at first I, like most others, took the changes in stride and laughed at the awkward zoom classes and such. Over the past year I started becoming more and more depressed though, since I can't stand being stuck at home for such long and monotonous periods of time, and I lost more and more motivation. I think the thing about having separate spaces for work and rest comes into play here too: since I was expected to do all my work at home I quickly started feeling anxious and guilty every time I *wasn't* working, which ended up stressing me out so much that every little school-related task intimidated me. I cried many times and sometimes even taking out my laptop to open up zoom was enough to make me panic. It makes me feel stupid and weak, since it isn't like anything horrible happened to me and it's just having to stay at home that I can't deal with, but I also know I'm not the only one experiencing a development like this and that comforts me a little. After all, it's quite a particular and serious situation we're all in, with a life-threatening pandemic causing schools and workplaces to shut down and putting many people in lockdown. Anyway, sorry for venting, let's hope everyone gets their vaccinations and this'll be over soon so everything can get back to normal 💕

    • @carcharodon9827
      @carcharodon9827 3 года назад +1

      You’re definitely not alone in this. I stress over any task my school gives me, big or small. I feel guilty whenever I’m not working on something school related as well. My anxiety has definitely gotten worse because of all this. But we are not alone. There are millions of other students through this as well. It’s definitely hard and an awful situation, but hopefully soon we’ll be safe enough to ease back into the normal life.

      Two things: first a reminder that you're not stupid, weak, or any other negative for being stressed and upset. That's just being human, especially in a situation like this. Second, the pandemic and all the stuff associated with it are definitely things mental health professionals are classing as traumatic events, so it's even more understandable and acceptable to be in a really low place mental health wise, especially by now. I hope you take time to be gentle with yourself where you can because you deserve it.

      @@tweetthang96 Aw thank you for this reply, you're too sweet. being chronically ill, I love it, but as a student, I hate it. I feel like professors get away with putting so much less actual effort into teaching because they have other things to worry about. Not blaming them but it's hard to go from classes where the profs were engaging with the students to "read the textbook and spend 90mins of a 3hr class discussing it with other students." I work at a public library in charge of the Young Adult collection. I was hired two weeks before we closed the library and had to work from home for awhile. I really did not like it and felt like I was just floating/drowning trying to figure things out. I give everyone props for making working from home work because I struggled and was happy to get back inside the building even if we were still closed to the public.

    idk how it works in the states and canada but where i live you have to work a certain amount of time to be able to retire and get payed when you do get retired, so im wondering is it the same in the states/canada and is youtube considered a job?

    • @ilovejoshramsay96
      @ilovejoshramsay96 3 года назад +4

      In Canada It depends on the job. Sone company’s pay into a retirement plan so part of your pay checks goes into a plan that you can access at 65ish. Some jobs don’t have that and you have to pay into an account on your own, But you don’t have to do it. If you work independently like RUclips, you would have to saved your own money to retire in a tax free retirement account.

    I work admissions and marketing for subacute and LTC facility. Sadly, the governor decided to keep admissions rolling in and my corporate office chose to not require a negative COVID test until end of April 2020-it was scary to go into work everyday and know that we were in the middle of the fire. Corporate worked from home, of course they make the final decision on admits - when you are in the building, you feel so much more responsibility for the people coming in and the LTC patients that you want to keep healthy and safe.

    I actually think this is a really good thing. Christina and Ben are thinking ahead to the Future RUclips isn't probably going to be around forever and so while they are making a lot of money on RUclips their governmental jobs will allow them to have retirement funds 401K benefits for when they retire I think that's a much better thing to be teaching people on RUclips like yes you can monetize your hobbies this is really great we are very lucky to have this but we are also very grounded in reality and know that eventually we would like to be able to retire and do our passions outside of RUclips really I respect that so much more than someone like Jake Paul flexes how much money has but has no idea about saving or doing anything with that money that isn't just for RUclips
