Wait, I am genuinely confused - does he not use in ears? I couldn't see any in his left ear, but I can't imagine him being that tight without hearing the band through them?
He’s swinging it! Such a fluid drummer that makes it look effortless. At 55 and after playing for 35 years I can only hope I’m still rockin it like NickOwwwwwww! He’s the man
The way that Ryde blocks those two Tom's like that. And when he does his rolls, his stick control is so precise that he never hits the underside of the Ryde on any upstrokes while doing a fill. Nice getting that behind-the-kit view. Learned a lot. Cheers 🍻✌️🇨🇦
I love watching guys like this at this point in their careers. I’ve seen them live twice, in 1990 and in 1999…ish. When I watch guys like Neil Peart and Nicko (the two that come to mind) when they were really young vs playing the same song at 50 or 60, what I notice is they get the same sound and play the same notes with SO MUCH LESS EFFORT. This looked like he was just chilling. 30 years ago he would have been much more animated to get the same end result.
@@markcoomber8222 ohhh! Yeah though it's amazing how well these guys are doing in their late 60s, and early seventies. Hoping I can catch a show before they go.
Nikos drum techs have really kept his sound consistent throughout his career with Maiden. They sound the same now as they did way back on Piece of Mind.
I know every drummer is different but damn every time I see nico and how his drums are set up, reminds me of a beginner drummer setting his kit up for the first time. Lol
I always thought it was pretty weird looking but it fits his style. I still wish you could see him when they play live. You just get a glimpse of his scalp every now and then. Nickos awesome!
Must be nice just chilling behind of wall of Drums for 2 hours and pretty much in your own private office and let the other blokes stand and run around all night dealing with the crowds as you finish your part and collect your 100k for the show 💰 Nice job , Iam jealous , lol
@@richardhullah2974 well let's see ? Maiden is probably pulling 1 million per show In ticket sales , Merch and royalty rites for the promoters using Maidens music for the air time to promote the shows . So 100k for each band member per show with the rest paying off the road crew and all the staff working the stage hands and the caterers , Manager , Lawyers , etc is about the amount it would take to sustain such a tour , Did I mention fuel too $$$$ Is not so off the mark💰
@@ludedude5228 I guess it all depends whether the earnings are divided equally between band members as well. There is a long history in touring bands where members and ex members claim they were underpaid or even not paid. Oh yeah these are the guys who hate the weed smokers who made their lifestyle possible. They are definetly and with out a doubt legends of the rock world though, gotta give them that.
How he can hit those 2 mounted toms to the right that are partially covered up by the cymbal is beyond me. I know he is so used to this setup of course.
Somebody give this legend a proper drum cam immediately.
No ear monitors, just the bass poppin on the wall monitors beside him. This man is a legend. I love you, Nicko
and he play barefooted

@@pascalschulz5894 No! He has a wall of monitors beside his drum. He plays only with it
How does that ride cymbal not touch the drums???
@@briandavis2885It’s very tight so it doesn’t move and it’s about 2” away from the drums
An absolute legend! Nicko rules! UP THE IRONS 🤘
A true master of his craft, completely in his element, making it not only look easy, but effortless! UP THE IRONS!!
Love nicko

@Orvil he would be referring to himself when saying he's 55, not nicko.
@@thecapedcrusader1372 Right. But, Nicko's still rockin' at 70.
I just love this guy. Could sit here and watch him play for hours. And I don't even play drums, I'm a guitarist
I am also a guitarist!.. Not a very good one, by the way! .... I tried to be a drummer.. but couldn't do it.. Guitar so much easier!
One of the best drummers alive or dead… period!!
Crazy set up. But he is so good. He makes it look effortless.
This man is just something else... Absolutely amazing 🤘

There is s video, where he tells that he sometimes hit the ride.
Nicko is just BAD-ASS!!!
🤘 Niko Mc Brain, the BEST drummer EVER

When I saw then in September and saw the camera on Nicko playing early on in the concert, the first word that came to mind was "effortless"
He’s 70 !

Great snare sound
Still rockin in his 70s

No hardhitting. Just economic drumming. Love this laidback style.
more more more drum cams pleasssseeee thank you cheers from Aussie land .
Phenomenal performance!
I'll never understand why Nicko has his ride over the toms - or how he can hit them positioned like that.
He said it’s because hes used to playing with an elevated hi hat, that’s why he has it like that
Economy.

Need more drum cam from the mighty nicko
I cant get over the way he dont sit into the kit...and still kill it!!!👍👍👌
Melhor música da banda 👏👏👏👏👏👏
This ride 🤪
70 years young.
Crazy how he can do those frequent fills on the toms, and never accidentally hit that ride cymbal covering half of the head.
I love his kit.. but there's no way I could ever play with his ride like that. I would get my sticks caught up on that tom that's mostly covered!
Vertical ride is actually nice, really helps with playing fast.
But having toms hidden = nope
EL MAESTRO NICHO!!!!
Makes you realise just how much ground he’s lost with the stroke. He’s doing great but has a long road back to this kind of form
Tom No 6 is virtually covered by the ride. Wonder how it gets a clean strike?
The most special Drummer
Andi like a iron maiden wow❤️❤️
Legend
outstanding
Wow, his ride is in such a weird position!! Well, it works for the Beast!
Maestro!!!!
Need more double base super cool love iton maiden.
Impresionante la forma de colocar el plato ride!!😮
Everything looks so easy for him :)
I’ve never understood that ride cymbal eating up half of the surface of those two toms
He said in an interview once he has it set up that way cuz hes used to playing with an elevated hi hat
Old school sounds... clearly compensating.
NICKO is not human!!!!! He’s an Octopus w/ only two arms!!!!!;);)
How can he hit the third and fourth toms with that ride cymbal in the way?
How the hell do you hit those 2 toms buried underneath that ride cymbal???
Love him
Still don’t know he gets to those toms with the inverted ride 😂
Nicko: a beast kick pedal!
Single pedal at that doing triplets and doubles!!
How in the world is he hitting the Toms that are hiding behind that Ride Cymbal?!?!?!?!?
