    That is a winner! Middle and treble position was a killer tone. That’s why they were called Les Paul killers.

      The middle pickup has been fitted by a pro, for sure, going by the routing. It seems to be wired direct to the switch and when the switch is in the middle it's bridge and middle. Some great sounds.

    I bought the Yamaha SG 1802 a year or so ago and let me tell you people of the Tube, the build and craftsmanship that went into this guitar is top notch. It gives any Fender custom shop guitar a run for it's money and no mistake...

      I played one of the 1802 in a shop a wee while back, lovely instrument.

    Lovely guitar, and definitely worth the money. I seem to remeber a story about Scott Gorham telling off Midge Ure (when he filled in for Gary Moore) for playing a Yamaha SG. I don't know why, they are such cool guitars.

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  3 месяца назад

      Yeah, it's ended up playing and sounding fantastic - always a risk to by something based on 8 pictures, from the other side of the world. But this one is a winner.

    thats is really gorgous dunsy....the vintage japanese guitars are just class all round.
    I have a tokai love rock that is just stunning (even though its apparently MIC) i modded it up and all that jazz.
    it was some of your videos that turned me onto looking down that avenue...so thanks dude👍

    Never saw a 3 p/u version. I remember the guy from Big Country played one! Beautiful guitar. Good luck

    Bargain, What a fantastic guitar for the money. I've always been a big fan of the SG series and currently own an SG1820 LTD. I do fancy a more vintage SG so will be checking out Zen Market. Great video 👌

      Did a bunch of sound tests with it this week - plays and sounds killer. Definitely worth checking out to see if you can pick one up, but always factor in the extra costs as a "bargain" can end up being pretty costly!

    I'm on 14 parcels and one in waiting ! All arrived with no damage whatsoever. I expected some tears and skuffs but no all good. Shame the guitars arent always in as good shape as the discriptions say ! Anyway that a great guitar Dunsy. Its in real nice shape and worth the effort !

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, it's a tricky one relying on 7 or 8 pictures and not seeing what the frets are like, or the condition of the truss rod. I'm actually blown away by how well preserved this one is for a 1977 guitar (checked the pickups to get the correct date). It's not showroom condition, but it's crazy good for this age.

    Very impressive, sir! Happy for ya! It looks a bit thicker than an average Les Paul, am I imagining this? Sounds good! Now I definitely want one!

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  3 месяца назад +1

      Maybe a wee bit thicker - weighs in at just under 9lbs, so not too bad at all.

    Never seen or heard of a three pickup version of the SG500. I'd imagine if you were going to mod one, you use something other than Yamaha pickups even back in the day. Great score, they are ripping guitars, Les Paul killers indeed

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  3 месяца назад

      Definitely a more recent mod going by the looks of the routing - middle pickup is from a 1978 SG2000.

      Most definitely - seems to be wired direct to the switch and in the middle position it’s bridge and middle pickup. It’s been put in there by a pro going by the routing job.

    taxes, fees, duties, licenses, permits, registrations, the list never ends…not to be a downer but it’s disgusting how deep the govt has their hands in our pockets…and people still defend the “legalized” theft…nevertheless, sweet guitar Dunsy…well done👍

      Yeah, and the "Admin" money that Parcelforce stick on is a bit galling too. There are definitely bargains to be had doing this kind of thing, but careful factoring in of all the costs is required.
