@@Eli_the_baker oh that's awesome to hear, I'll probably buy it instantly lol I have some watches I can dress up, but that art deco vario face with the reverso design would be perfect one sided and thinner
As an owner of this piece, I can confidently say it’s not too thick. The slab sides make it look thick on video, but in the metal it’s a great size. It honestly makes my Tank feel almost too thin. Most people who pick one up will agree.
I ordered the Versa a few weeks ago and have to say what a stunning watch. For me it's not a compromise, but the best buy for a rectangular watch. Greetings from Germany.
As a Reverso owner (inherited from my Grandfather) I can assure you that their (JLC) design does not prevent smudging on the crystal while actuating it. As for this watch I think it's great. They did something different that evokes the sprite of a much more famous watch ( I also see a little Tank DNA in there) which is homaging doe right IMO. I did notice on the macro shots some sloppy painting on the bule hands. While I think it's unreasonable to ask a brand this small, charging this little, to actually bule the hands I would personally see regular polished hands instead of sloppily painted ones. Going back to the Reverso, what you are paying for is not the swapping around mechanism, it's the fact that a singular movement is driving everything on both sides of the watch (assuming we are talking about a Duoface) I think that is a really important part about the Reverso and is the real reason to be impressed by it, not the case swapping gimmick. Given that, this watch is just the gimmick and to me, while I do like it, not particularly impressive. However a very fair argument would be to say that all watches in the modern era are gimmicky given the ubiquity of digital, atomically accurate radio controlled clocks that we all carry around in our pockets now adays. Regardless it's always good to see something other than a diver and you did an excellent job in showcasing it.
Not sure I'm a fan of this particular watch, but It's nice to see watchmakers try new things. Hopefully, it inspires more watchmakers to experiment with the concept.
Although the watch is termed aJLC Reverso homage, actually the Vario Versa design mimics the Cartier Basculante than the JLV reverso. Thanks for another great vid.
Thank you for the video! i was seeing tank shaped watches on the market and was interested about some of them, but the nice ones are sooooo expensive! Nice watch , i would wear this and probably try it with a bracelet.
ah actually, my girlfriend loves - almost exclusively - affordability and square cases! This is the first watch we got as a "his and hers" piece. Hers is the purple dial with gunmetal reverse face, and mine the same with red. We love our pieces and like to match whenever we have a dressy occasion to go to!
The only change I would like to see is the addition of a seconds hand. Otherwise, this would be my top pick for a dress watch. Also, thanks to Mrs. Just the Watch for the wrist cameo!
Nice one, thanks for sharing. Just had a look - they have several color combinations so you don't need to go "casual" on one side, like silver & black, gunmetal & white, gunmetal & blue, etc.
I would prefer to not needing to remove the watch from my wrist in order to swap the face like the Basculante or Reverso but at this price bracket, it's a winner.
wow!! I like it!!! you did a review of a Nodus sector watch a while back, I think it was you, and as a result of the review I bought one and am very happy with it!! Thanks!! Bless the Name of the Lord, bro!!!
Looks like they've done a great job with this. And the company being called "Vario" seems a perfectly appropriate reason to make it. When they update to a more sophisticated logo, and make tweaks for a version 2 (they must've definitely learned a lot putting this together) this will be amazing
I bought one on first release Dave & it’s eye catching. The so called thickness does disappear when worn. Honestly it’s no real bother to clean as you rotate to each face. Yes a real Reverso would be fantastic but yep the price of owning one is quite a financial hit!😱🤩
I bought the gunmetal / blue one. I really like it, very cool and unique watch. My only gripe is that the strap is a little short... The website warns that it "may not be suitable for wrists over 7.5 inches". My wrists are right at 7.5", so I thought maybe I'd be fine, and it's okay, but It's all the way extended to the last hole. They offer a longer strap by request, but it's black, not the color coordinated blue. I'll eventually order something longer...
it’s a paid promotional video. Vario probably gave him a prototype - a watch they didn’t mind getting rid of. that color combo has long been out of stock and is no longer in production.
Also, on the white dial watch, the printing wasn't great. A bit of mis-registration between the base color and the minute track, and some defects in the printing around the 8:00 mark.
Unrelated: Is there an affordable mechanical watch with a mechanical hourly chime? If so, would you please do a video on it? If not, thems the breaks, but I appreciate your consideration. Cheers!
This was a really nice review that answered many questions I had about this ⌚. I have only subscribed to your channel recently but think that you would be a formidable ⌚ journalist.
Maybe they could make a only one face watch and create an enamel or other material case back like in the Reverso. I think is a bit too thick but otherwise a gorgeous watch. Vario is very good company. Love their designs. But I checked their website and seems to have runned out of so many watches.
How come most of the color variations for the vario versa are sold out on their website? Are they all limited editions? Will they stock more. The color I am interested in is out of stock.
Vario, like most microbrands, tends to do limited production runs. They sometimes do a second run of popular models and colors but more often they'll release new colors.
Thanks for getting back to me! I haven’t been collecting for long and did not know this. Thanks for the information. I will keep this in mind. Love your videos!
It's a nice looking watch but it's far too thick and clunky and actually looks like a prototype in my opinion. It's a tank watch that actually looks like a tank. OK , the reverso is expensive at around $9,000 but it's a work of art. I don't see any design genius in sticking two quartz watches together. Also I wonder how stable it will be after the metal wears away from switching the faces over.
Thick, barely nice (at least one side is cool with blue hands), both regular quartz watches sandwiched together, nothing special about it (for me) and justify the price. Thank you for reviewing.
I think a single face version of this would also be quite cool and much thinner
Yes! If the non watch face could be engraved it would lend itself to customization.
They are making a single face automatic one, don't know when it's coming out tho
@@Eli_the_baker oh that's awesome to hear, I'll probably buy it instantly lol I have some watches I can dress up, but that art deco vario face with the reverso design would be perfect one sided and thinner
Agreed. I love the reversible aspect, but I really have no use for a double watch face.

I like this as a dress watch for someone who travels a lot. I am in the US and bought this for a wedding in Europe. It is nice.
Slick but Thick.

How it flips and the location of crowns reminds me of Cartier Tank Basculante.
I agree this is more of a Catyay than Zhezher Le Coot
JLC reverso is one of my holy grails that i know I'll never have.

Thanks for this review, I've been planning to get one of these so it really helps to see it in more detail. Love Vario, they're a great brand.
Ok, that is legitimately cool. This is a very nice alternative to the JLC.
Nice design. Now I'm going to wait for the mechanical version.
Oh wow. This is very cool. I’m torn between wanting a thinner single dial or having this cool reversing dial. Either way thanks for showing it to us!

Exactly my thought. When I saw the price and knew what Vario brings to the table, I decided I might "need one of these"

Adding a date complication to both sides would make this even more appealing.
Cool watch and a nice review. Im impressed with your presentations, always impressed. Thanks

Thanks again for your review! Love your T-Shirt!
That’s a badass T-shirt

It's beautiful. I know Rotary makes/made a "Reverso" as well.
👍👍👍 Nice Watch and Elegant Watch introduce by Dave - JUST THE WATCH 👍👍👍
Very beautiful watch and thanks for your video and review of this watch ❤❤❤
When they make a single face version, I will buy one.
Hi dave have you had this watch for a while? I thought the white and purple dial has been out of stock for some time
Looks great, and not a bad price for its novelty
9:20 In the design world, they would describe them as 'skeuomorphic' screws, rather than 'decorative'.
The dual-time function would make more sense if one movement were a 24 hour clock (or there were an am/pm indicator).
Very cool especially for the price ! Cheers
Like this watch! Great review 👍
is there any reversible watch of other brands ?
Nice, thanks for showing
i would love to see the same mechanism on a round case… imagine that
Interesting timepiece! I wish it were a bit bigger, but otherwise, it’s a nice conversation piece. Thank you!
Took a while but there you are... I love mine don't wear it enough..
Someone should try this with a conventional dress watch and a smart watch reverse.
8:00 there's a mark on the minute track above the 8 batton and it also appears to have some 'blue' on the cannon pinion. are the hands melting?
it’s a paid promotional video. Vario probably gave him a prototype - a watch they didn’t mind getting rid of. that color combo has long been out of stock and is no longer in production.
That is one serious looking microphone.
It's not polite to comment on a man's microphone. 😮😊
99% design focus on case design, 1% effort on dial design
Also, on the white dial watch, the printing wasn't great. A bit of mis-registration between the base color and the minute track, and some defects in the printing around the 8:00 mark.

The Belcanto is the cheapest I'm aware of and that's like 3k

It seems more like the Basculante than the Reverso. The small size in two dimensions makes it look extremely chonky in the third.
Changing the batteries could be a pain 😅
6:40 TWSBI Eco 👍 6:41 Pilot Metropolitan 👍
thats a cool shirt

Ivan is working on a single face auto!, The leather band is to small for bigger wrists.
Rotary has a reversible watch many years back but too bad it is no longer available.
Thats cool...
Sold out everywhere...😢
Do you know when they'll be back in stock? Ty
Not my thing but it is cool.
Thick, barely nice (at least one side is cool with blue hands), both regular quartz watches sandwiched together, nothing special about it (for me) and justify the price. Thank you for reviewing.
Sorry to say this, but it's a very much a "knock off" of a Titan reversible/flip watch. It was relatively cheap watch too.
It doesn't make any sense that you must take off the watch to flip it.
1. Gotta take it off to flip it, unlike the real one.
2. Quartz.
It's cute, but overpriced for quartz, and misses the Reverso's utility. Sorry.
Its cool, but reminds me too much of my ex. Thick and kinda akward.
More like a basculante that ate too much pizza
NICE WATCH THICK BUT LITTLE SMALL BUT I WOULD ADD ONE TO MY COLLECTION JUST WANNA SAY THANKS
looks cool but fat, and changing the batteries has gotta be a challenge for most.
And too small IMO.
it’s like the same size n thickness of a Lego brick…
Have a lot of respect for Vario, but this just feels like poor value & a bit of a gimic. Nice review tho, Dave.
Speaking of poor value, look at how much JLC has raised the price on the Reverso over the last 5 years. It's insane.
That’s a no from me dog.
meh, quartz, who cares
Awesome video ❤!!!
