Ai is always goofy and smiling, she's always smiling in every situation and her eyes are softer, this Ai feels a bit too serious and stoned-faced to 🤔🤔 if it wasnt for the bunny accessory on her hair, i would not recognize her as Ai....
I agree that in a few scenes, Asuka(the actress) could've acted a bit more energetic, but honestly, it's probably just the direction they wanted her to take. Since it's a live action and not an anime, there's a limit to how over the top your acting can be until it feels forced and cringe. I don't think there was any better actress for Ai other than Asuka Saito. Just like Ai, the actress was once the center of the biggest idol group in Japan, she even made it to the dome. Check a few clips and the wiki of her, and you'll notice similarities between her and Ai personality-wise, not to say their looks are quite similar as well. The acting on Ai's death scene was also top-notch, I didn't think it was gonna hit, but it even brought me a few tears to my eyes.

@@Vanillie261 Oh, it's actually a TV series with 8 episodes. A movie will release in december, finishing the story. I'd recommend checking the live action out, it's actually quite good, though not on the same level as the anime/manga.
I wish Airi Suzuki had been younger so she could have played Ai (though I think she looks young enough for it to have been fine). Besides their first names being similar, Airi bore the similar role of being the front, popular one in her group--even having almost an entire single with lines just for her. Her personality and drive aligns with how Ai presented herself, and her facial structure is pretty dead on too. There's a video of Airi singing one of B-Komachi's songs. She just oozes Ai vibes.
